You will be spoiled by its reliability, easy cleaning, and ability to take abuse. I have a few different pistols, but the Glock 9mm in general has not given me any issues.

I'd probably call a game warden and see if your allowed to put down the deer., the TWRA Gun Range has had a warden there everytime I go shoot so maybe give them a call. Don't want to get in trouble for doing the humane thing.

I polished my 1911 and 9mm a few days ago, have'nt tested it yet though. The Keltec Forum and google "1911 fluff and buff polishing" and a few sights with pictures and advice will show up. Jewelers Rouge and 600 grit sandpaper seem to be the main ingredient with slow and easy method. Almost everyone agrees that you want to polish and smooth the area, not remove metal. I'll be going to the TWRA gun range tomorrow or saturday and will post results if you can wait. This is my first polishing job so......

Since you got time, I'd keep my eye on Southwest. As far as packing, see if you can pack clothes and such on one carry on each and buy the sample size toiletries when you land, that way just print out the ticket before flying out and go straight to security/gate. No checking in will save you some time and headache.

I don't know your situation, or the date on your DD214, but there is a timeframe where you can reapply to get an honorable discharge. My brother in-law did that to pass the security check for his job. VFW and American Legion guys are the ones that helped him out.

Congrats on the enlistment, Active or Reserve? If your going Active, single and you'll be living on base, you'll have to store your toys in the unit armory. That can be a pain in the ass and leaving it with a friend is not a good idea. You'll be familiar with the M16/M4 platform because of Uncle Sam so maybe get the SCAR and have something different? I would have done that if I could afford it. Have a great time in.....

Try E-Bay and see if anyones selling the Army issued sleeping bag. It's three seperate pieces and water resistant. I kept mine and paid Uncle Sam a pro-rated price. I've had it since '97.....

Sorry, should have stated, when you turn in from the main road, they have a sale area at the back of the building. They go to lunch 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. You can buy anything they sell online and primers which are not listed in that room. No shipping/hazmat. There is no showroom, but if you know what you want to buy they'll get it for you.

Good range gun for teaching friends to shoot. Do I trust it as much as a glock, not yet, but has been reliable.

If I don't pocket carry the R9, then the G26 is my EDC in an M-Tac IWB holster. Get a good belt, find the right cant and you can take naps with it on. Very manageable at the range.
