  1. I like cheese, I like eggs, I like pie, and generally like all the other things in quiche. But you mix them all together, tastes like doo doo. When my wife and I first got married we made a deal. We would both eat anything the other one cooks except she won't eat polish sausage and kraut and I won't eat quiche.
  2. I don't know about the pack behavior of the groudhog, but I do know that if you take I-65 North from Nashville and continue past Rivergate. The next exit is Long Hollow Pike (my exit). Get off the Long Hollow Pike exit any day between 3-5 PM and look on the shoulder of the off ramp. There will be approximately 5-10 fully grown groundhogs rooting around in very close proxemity to one another. Are they a pack? I don't know but they certainly appear to have some social relationship to one another. Will they attack? Don't know that either, never had experience with one attacking, only running. I do know that they are as succeptable to rabies as any other mammal, though.
  3. My grandparents had a dog (shepherd mix) that came home with a groudhog in its mouth damned near as big as him. I don't think there was a part of the dog that wasn't bleeding. But he killed the groundhog.
  4. Any idea what the price point will be, and how long until they're actually on the shelves?
  5. Perfectly rational. Would have done the same thing in that situation. The OP was a little vague, leaving a bad impression for those of us who love to hunt, but are very conscious of the impact. If there weren't guys like me, groups like Ducks Unlimited and Wild Turkey Federation wouldn't exist. The fact is without guys like me, there would be nothing to hunt anymore, we damned near wiped out all of the game before some hunter-conservationists stepped up to the plate. That being said, we need to be very mindful of the wacko leftists who want to take away our heritage with regards to hunting. They'll seize on any opportunity to paint us as cruel and inhumane in order to make us all vegan tree huggers.
  6. Oh, great, now I'll have to buy a new Glock. Can't they just leave well enough alone? They keep improving on things and I'll be broke in no time flat.
  7. I guess I'm fully feminized because my wife and I have season tickets. Makes for 6 guaranteed "dates" every year, which I like because I still like dating my wife after all these years. The dirty little secret is I actually like the plays. Being well rounded is always a good thing. I can listen to everything from Mozart to Metallica and everything in between, except rap. Full Metal Jacket is one of my facorite movies, but My Fair lady is one of my favorite plays. As far as Phantom coming to TPAC, the budget is kinda tight so we're limited to 6 B'Way shows a year, not counting The Rep. The board tries to give new plays every year instead of bringing back old ones. BTW, if anyone wants my tickets to The Color Purple, they can have them. I have absolutely no intention of going to that one. I'm still scarred by the book. I had to write a term paper on it when I was in college. It's nothing but a lesbian propaganda book (the book is far more graphic than the movie).
  8. I've also never seen anyone complain of reliability problems with the conversions except those who've tried to use the wrong magazines for the caliber. The original magazine will not work with 9mm!!!!
  9. Every post made on any site, including this one, in one way or another pushes one's convictions on others. It's the whole point of making a post. We share our experiences with others. Some of us have different experiences and by sharing them we may all learn something. That's why forums are popular in the first place.
  10. I guess the point was somehow misconstrued. I absolutely believe in hunting. I absolutely believe that there are critters that fly, swim, walk on four legs and even two legs that need to be exterminated, and I'm perfectly willing to do so. But when you go around exterminating things just because you don't like them, you can cause more trouble than originally anticipated. There may come a time when we all wished there were more groundhogs around. Why? Because we're f***ing hungry. If you use your resources when you don't need them, they may not be there when you do. That was the point that was instilled into me as a child. It's no different from saving money during the good times 'cause the bad times will someday come. My grandfather is fulled blooded Indian (we don't use that native American crap in my family, we also never lived on the reservations or took any government handouts). Our people were almost completely annihilated from the planet because people shot buffalo from trains just to let them rot on the prairie for fun. I say hunt, I say protect your property. I just say do it with a little respect and dignity.
  11. These kinda things are almost always started by the wives. They watch too much Oprah and read every left leaning liberal magazine they can get their hands on. Then they put their husbands up to making demands on their behalf as if it was the husbands idea. seen it way too often.
  12. Whole Foods is fine, so is Trader Joe's. Both have all the organic stuff you can think of. But since you're a Hendersonville man, why not just shop at Publix. They have organic choices for most anything you would want. All that being said, read my above post.
  13. Let me tell you a true story about organic. It's the main reason why I was pretty much off here for a month starting at the beginning of October. My wife, her sister and I went to a fancy cafe that touts it's food as organic. We all enjoyed a nice Greek Salad. Well within the week, 2 of us were hospitalized and almost died, and the other very sick from Salmonella poisoning. The dirty little secret is that it is grown in the stuff that is the namesake for Penn & Teller's show. Feces has a nasty habit of having lots of bacteria in it. Vegetables grown in said feces, suck up the bacteria through the roots and into the vegetable itself. While most bacteria is harmless to humans, there are certainly some notable exceptions, Salmonella being one of them. You can't wash it off and can only kill it by cooking it (who ever heard of cooking lettuce). These type of outbreaks were very common until the advent of modern growing techniques. While people want to believe that any and all disease it contributable to our food and water supply, the truth is both are safer and contribute to fewer deaths than in the history of the world. Just think of it, we live longer than ever in the history of mankind. While I never bought the organic hype due to my science background,$50,000 in hospital bills and being out of work for 1 1/2 months will probably keep me from ever eating organic vegetables again.
  14. Ever thought about buying the Glock 27 in .40S&W and geting a conversion barrel? The mags are the same for .357Sig and .40S&W just change the barrel. You can also get a 9mm conversion barrel but you have to use 9mm mags for it to function properly. Basically 3 guns in 1. hard to beat that kind of versatility. The drop in barrels for the Glock are economically just a hair over $100.00 per, much cheaper than in other firearms.
  15. I guess the part that bothered me was the fact that it was done with a bow and arrow and the excitment he descibed about him "flopping around in circles" (his words not mine). It's those kind of desciptions that give those bastards from PETA ammunition, and I surely don't want them to have any more. If I need to kill an animal for destructive reasons, I can think of more humane ways of doing it. I've taken out many squirrels that were getting in my attic and opossums in my crawlspace, but always used a firearm and dropped them on the spot, safely and humanely. If I couldn't get a safe shot, I just didn't take it and the offending critter lived to fight another day. I guess it's just the way I was brought up. If I had shot a groundhog that had not done any actual damage, when I was a kid, my dad, or grandfather would have made me dig into the burrow until I found it, field dress it and I'd be eating it for supper. I shot a blue jay with a bb gun, once as a child. They don't taste like chicken.
  16. Yeah, those carry versions of the 1911 are POS. BTW, I took my Colt Defender to Jeff when he was at Specialty Arms and he basically told me to get rid of the damned thing, which I did. Jeff does good work but only if he has a good weapon to work on.
  17. Am I the only person who only kills for a reason (food, danger, property destruction, loss of liberty)? I'm certainly not a lib, or against hunting but have never enjoyed the sight of something dying.
  18. I always hated glocks. Then one day, went out and bought a G27, for no particular reason. I think I may have been temporarily possessed by Satan, himself. I took it to the range and absolutely hated the way it shot. Then as I was about to sell or trade it I went back to range and shot it some more. All at once I realized I was addicted to this little POS. I couldn't help myself, I just kept wanting to shoot it more and more. Now, it's all I'm carrying and I'm thinking about getting it some brothers and sisters. These damned Glocks are taking over my mind, my house and my wallet. Someone please help.
  19. You would probably have to actually go into a place that serves alcohol and get caught in order to have standing before the court. Then you would have to appeal to conviction (assuming there was one) in order to be heard by the court of appeals. Then and only then could you argue that the order, written by Bonnyman, was erroneous and your conviction should be overturned. You can't just go into the court and say you want to overturn the order because you "haven't been harmed" by it. At least that's my understanding of the process. The original plaintiffs had standing before the court because they could argue that they were being forced to do something. In this case, placing a sign on there front door and that the were suffering monetarily by such a requirement. These things, at least theoretically, constitute "harm". Now I belive all their arguements were BS, but it was enough to get a hearing. I would have a much tougher time getting a hearing because I wanted to go armed into a bar but couldn't unless I actually did it and got arrested for it.
  20. I have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving (I almost died from Salmonella poisoning and was hospitalized for quite a while), and I hope you do too. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
  21. Evidently you have to do the same with a pie. I'm taking two pecans to the family gathering today. Hope they enjoy.
  22. I know you have strong feelings about 2A, we all do. I'm not telling you to change your ideals. I'm just trying to help you get a good enough GPA to get into law school. And if your wanting to be a big Constitutional Law guy, it better be a very good law school. Most state school guys end up as local litigators or doing wills and divorces (not that there's anything wrong with that). My point is you need to get the degree first and foremost, then you can have an opinion and champion whatever cause you like. I see on your profile that you are a ex-military guy. You wouldn't disobey an order because you didn't agree with it, would you? Take that same approach with college. The professor, more or less, is your comanding officer. You need to do what they ask in order to get your degree. That's how I made it through college and I'm sure that I'm not alone. One little caveat though, if you're ever nominated for the Federal Bench or run for public office, someone will find your college papers and use them against you. That's just how the world works.

    Bad News

I absolutely agree with you. It's usually easier to get Type 1 diabetics to exercize and eat properly because they've generally been doing it their whole lives or at least since they were relatively young. Type 2 diabetics are generally much harder to convince to make drastic lifestyle changes. This is primarily due to the fact that the wrong type of lifestyle is the culprit in the disease. If I have a 350lb man who is newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, it's almost impossible to get him to eat properly and to go to the gym. With morbid obesity, the disease perpetuates itself. As one gets larger, exercize becomes more difficult, so I continue to to get larger because now, not only am I taking in too many calories, but I'm burning fewer than I once was. It's similar to the whole jazzy scooter situation. I am large so it's difficult to walk. I buy a scooter so I get larger. Now it's more difficult to walk than ever. I have made an invalid of myself.

Good to hear. You wouldn't go to a dentist if you were having open heart surgery.
  25. This is what you need to carry your badge in, Samuel L. Jackson style. Damn, I can't get the Brown "Bad MOFO" wallet to copy on here.
