    Round 2

Man, it feels like I havent logged into TGO in a year! Really though its only been 3 months. Between college, family, and work I truly dont know whether I'm coming or going sometimes! Anyways I just wanted to drop in and share some good news with my fellow TGO'ers. The news that the wife and myself are expecting our 2nd addition to the family in July! Our 6 year old daughter is ecstatic about it, but has already declared she WILL NOT be changing any diapers. Lol, hope everybody is doing well!
  2. Thanks raildog! I shot at and missed one last weekend so I feel better now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Culled this guy out of the gene pool this morning! Perfect morning to be out there. About a 15 yard shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Well, for the time being anyways, I am going to use Allstate just to keep things simpler. The quote they gave me was right on with what I was thinking. I may go "shopping" after the first of the year though, just to see what else is out there.    ETA: I've come to realize that this subject is so subjective. I've googled reviews for all the companies represented in this post and guess what turns up. A very high number of MOSTLY negative reviews shows up for every one of them. I got to thinking then about how most people in that scenario will only write a review on this kind of thing if its negative. They are upset and mad and angry, and want the world to know it, so they get on the mighty internet to tell the world how bad or evil this insurance company is because of so-and-so. The will to review something positively goes away if the experience is good or acceptable. The bottom line is that in the two days I've been researching all this, I've actually read wayyyy more negative things about all these insurance companies, than positive.
  5. By any chance does anybody here have Allstate home insurance? I have used them for my auto insurance needs for several years. I've only filed one claim and they handled it well. I have never used them for homeowners though, and need to find somebody for my new house we are moving into on Oct 9. I was thinking about combining home and auto to get the discount they always advertise. Anybody here ever filed a home claim with them? Just looking for recommendations. Thanks
  6. My family is actually in the process of moving right now. Thankfully, our new house is 4 bedroom, which was a requirement when we were looking. We either had to have a 4 bedroom or 3 bedroom with a bonus room to use as an office area for me, which is where my safe will be going. The thought had crossed my mind to put mine in the garage, but I quickly talked myself out of it for the reasons everybody has listed here. The garage for me just did not seem like a very secure area, and every time we would go on vacation, I could see myself worrying the whole time about how vulnerable my stuff was. Between being inside, anchored to the floor, and the security system installed on the house, I will be able to rest easy.
  7. one thing to note, is that with Good Guys, they only cover damages up to $300. Meaning that if they break something valuable of mine, i.e. TV, I would be up a creek. However they offer additional insurance that can be bought (I'm assuming from a third party) for around 55 bucks for $5000 worth of coverage. What are your guys' thoughts on this? Is this normal in the world of moving companies?
  8. So the first estimate I received was very reasonable at less than 1k including moving the gun safe. This is from a very well reputed company (good guys). We may not even bother with getting more estimates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Im conflicted between renting out a 24ft uhaul for a few days, getting some friends to help, and not being as rushed, or hiring movers. I guess it wont hurt to get a couple quotes anyways. I can guarantee you that if I do hire they will have insurance, I tend to have bad luck anyway, and thats just what I need, for some nut off the internet to drop my tv or something else valuable and break it and be screwed. That or have them steal something.
  11. Yeah yeah, I know. Unfortunately its just what has to be done. These guidelines are actually what my realtor told me to do. We HAD to sell our house before we could buy a new one. We needed the funds out of the equity we have in our current house, in order to help for the down payment on our new place. We could have moved already, but I didnt want to pay two mortgages until our house sold, which for all I knew at the time, couldve been another 5 months. This is one of those "gotta do what you gotta do" scenarios that pop up in life from time to time. On the other hand, we are getting what is pretty much our dream home, so that makes it not so bad!   Great tips, thanks for all the advice! We have only moved once in our life, and that was back when we were living in a one bedroom apartment, without a kid, into the house we are in now. We didnt have much stuff to move either, so that move wasnt to bad. Now we have A LOT more stuff, and a 5 year old, so this one is gonna be tough. Your advice was well received!
  12. I was in school, 10th grade. We were sitting there in a science class and my math teacher, Mrs. Smith slung the door open and said "Turn on the TV!" My whole class sat there in disbelief and we all saw the second plane hit together. Shortly after that we were dismissed to go home. The images I saw on tv that day will be in my head till the day I die. I'm proud to be an American every day of my life, but I can remember how much more pride I had at the fact in the following days. In my lifetime, that was the most I had ever seen the American people come together.   On a side note, I can not believe it has been 14 years. People who were born the year it happened, and obviously dont remember it, are one year shy from being how old I was when I watched it happen on tv.
  13. Thanks. Gonna look into this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yeah we are going to pack the small stuff like dishes, clothes, etc. id really just like the furniture, appliances, and gun safe moved, so all of it lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Well we are finally under contract both on selling our home, and buying a new one. The last 3 years or so of my life have revolved around this, so needless to say we are ecstatic. October 9th is going to be an interesting day to say the least. We close on selling our house at one title company, then go to a different title company to close on our new house immediately after. The moving truck has to be loaded up and ready to go that morning before our sell closing. On top of that, we have two dogs, a cat, and a fish tank we have got to figure out what to do with in the midst of all that. We will probably board the dogs and cat for the day, but at this point I have no clue what we are going to do with the fish.   So, considering all of this, I am thinking of just hiring movers to take care of our stuff. I have never hired movers before and haven't the slightest as to what to expect. I need some info from you all, hopefully from ones that have hired movers before. Im not really sure how the whole process works. Should I just call several moving companies and get quotes from all of them? Should I start that process right now? I should note that there is a gun safe to be moved as well, I'm assuming they will charge extra for it, but the question is how much? What price range am I looking at here to have all my stuff including the gun safe moved to my new house about 25 miles away. $500-$1000? $1000-$1500? This just seems like one of those things that if you can swing the cash, it would be worth every penny. Any and all info you guys can give me on this subject I will appreciate. As well as your experiences with movers in general. Was it worth it in your eyes? Would you hire movers again or do it yourself?
  17. I can relate man! I just got done with my 10.5" SBR and already planning the next! I really want to do a pistol caliber sub gun style sbr, like an MPX or Scorpion. Very addicting stuff.
  18. I guess I shouldve specified the title was in reference to some of the ignorant comments people had posted in the comments on that web page. Some people were trying to play the race card because the guy who designed the firearm said the bible verse was added to (paraphrasing here) hopefully keep the rifle out of the hands of extremist terrorists who would use it against americans. 19. I only hope they will sell it as a stripped lower too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Any of you guys seen this yet? I actually really like it. Some of the comments are hilarious.. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/09/04/florida-gun-maker-produces-assault-rifle-never-to-be-used-by-muslim-terrorists/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Ive always had really good luck with heli coil kits. Ive had to use them several times on atvs and every single attempt has been successful. I even heli coiled an aluminum head on an Arctic Cat dvx 400 sport atv, where the cam cap bolted in to the head, and it held great, those motors rev to the moon too. They are kinda costly at around $50, but come with everything you need, drill bit, tap, threads, all of it. Good luck.
  22. That would be nice indeed. You the man David Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. Nice jeep! Offroading is a hobby of mine as well, but more in the atv sense. I used to off road a 4runner on 35's, but found out real quick how expensive that hobby can be and ditched it. It was a ton of fun, but every time I went in the woods something broke. I have a Brute Force 750 that I take out as often as I can, which is not much at all between everything else. Who wouldve thought that having a family, working, and going to college wouldve been a lot of work? I have to MAKE time to do the shooting that I do, which like offroading and playing golf I dont get to do as much as I want to! A-friggin-men
