I really don't think any poachers will follow the laws about what they shoot the animals with, I mean come on! They are law breakers to begin with! It really ticks me off that the TWRA puts responsible hunters in the same category as poachers!

I was at a neighborhood watch meeting last night and a fellow who lives the next street over from me said when he took his handgun permit class the instructor told him he was going to have to register this guy as a "marksman" because he had all of his shots in the kill zone. Have any of you ever heard of such a thing? When I heard him say this my first thought was BS, but I could be wrong. Another reason I did not much believe him was he also said he had his "handgun carry badge" stolen out of his truck.

Was told today as of Oct. 6th I won't have a job...
andersmg replied to andersmg's topic in General Chat
Well I went to the local PD and sheriffs dept. today and put in my applications with each. I also talked to a very nice lady at our local employment office and put in my application with one temp. service. I was told of one place here in town that will be hiring before long and they hire thru the temp agency I went to today. I have a few more prospects that I will check on next monday. I am still working for now and I work third shift so Monday is the best day for me to go job hunting. Thanks again everyone for the kind words of encouragement! -

Thanks eveyone for the kind words, like was said it is a corporate thing, they pretty much spelled it out for us in the meeting, said they were trying to make the company more profitable. I can understand that, it is just hard to figure how "they" decided who to let go and who to keep. I have been there 24 years and always done everything asked of me, but they kept some who IMO are less desirable than I, go figure. -

I am looking into law enforcement, I have a couple of connections here and it is something I have always wanted to do. Wish me luck! -
We had a meeting thursday at the plant I work for, several of us were told as of Oct. 6th they were cutting 22 salaried jobs, ( I am salaried), and 110 hourly jobs. Just one more casualty of the economy. Yall keep me and my family in your prayers, I will be looking for employment starting Monday. If the wife didn't have the pretty good job she has I would be looking for a job in East Tenn.!!

Insect repellent containing DEET damage a firearm?
andersmg replied to TnShooter83's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I had a friend who ruined the wood finish on his 870 several years back with the deet bug spray. I have not had any personal bad experiences with it although when I use it I usually make sure I DO NOT get it on my hands, I still have to be careful not to get my arms up against the gun too if I am wearing a short sleeve shirt and have applied it to my arms. Most times I have on long sleeve shirts and spray the sleeves lightly. I think the problem comes in if you have it on your hands or skin and it is still in it's fluid state, if it is sprayed onto clothing it is much less likely to do any damage, at least from my experience. -
While in Tenn. since you have your HCP you are good to keep the weapon on your person with one in the pipe. Other states differ some from that but as stated you are good to go in TN with the gun on you in your holster, pocket holster, or actually where ever since you have your HCP. Hope this helps! Stay safe and stay armed!

I am not LEO, but I have thought about trying it myself several times over my lifetime. I was always talked out of it by my current wife. If I had it to do over I would be in law enforcement now. Don't let the chance get by you, I am 46 now and too old for any dept. that I know of. If you think you would like to do it then go for it!

I would suggest a a Kahr CW model. You should give them a look and hold and shoot one if you can. They come in 9mm, 40 and 45 caliber. I have the CW40 and it is my EDC for the summer. You can find them pretty close to your price range of $350...

I have the CW40 and PM9, both great guns and I carry one of them daily for summer carry. I have nothing but good things to say about mine. They do require a break in period before I would advise carrying.
-
My wife has the 24/7 pro compact in 9mm and she loves it, I like it as well. We have had zero problems with the gun so I can't speak of Taurus customer service.

I can carry my 27 or 23 in the same "shell"in my Mtac, no problem.

More first-person-shooter IDPA footage

Great videos! Thanks for sharing them with us! -
I can't comment on the P99, but I have two P22's and I used a small allen wrench and it was very easy to just push the lower pin out, I just went to my safe and tried it again to be sure. You might give it a try, if it is too hard to push out maybe mine is just a fluke...I don't know??

The range has a max distance of 25yds, and you can shoot almost any caliber you have. They told me it was built to even be able to withstand a 50 cal round, but I don't know if they would let you shoot a 50 cal or not, (doubt it), we just shot our 40, 9mm and .22 handguns, they did caution us on head shots, they did not say they were not allowed, just to be careful of your trajectory so you don't damge the baffles or track system. The system for moving the target was nice with a digital readout on the control panel. If you live fairly close by it is worth a try. It was $15 and hour for a single lane or you can share one for $20 and hour.

We went and tried out the new indoor range today at The "Great Outdoor Store in Jackson. It is set up pretty nicely, and seems they are trying to keep it safe. Yall go by there when you get the chance. They also have a techno hunt for bows if you need that kind of practice. LA 367sig added this to the range database here: http://www.tngunowners.com/dynamics/showentry.php?e=94&catid=4
