I'm in Spring Hill, Tn for a week. What to do?
bigwakes replied to GhstFace38's topic in General Chat
There is the Charlie Haffner Memorial range if you brought a weapon. It's very close to Spring Hill. You might be able to get an hour in before they close. -
American Eagle Surplus Tracer Ammo (5.56)
bigwakes replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
10 cents? For the complete round? 15 cents is about the cheapest I can get even with surplus powder. Where do you get components that cheap? Especially tracers. -
He sued BP billions for the spill and I have yet to see where that money went. Maybe he started a Barrack retirement fund or sent some cash to his Saudi buddies. BP Says Fine Doesn As if cleaning up the mess was not enough they might be fined as much as 20 Billion dollars. You dont think they would ever pass that onto the consumer would you?

That's a pretty good price considering I just sold an M&P15 Optics Ready for $650 used.

Series 1 Tactical Handgun Course Oct. 9th in Dickson
bigwakes replied to bigwakes's topic in Training Discussions
I did get an email about an upcoming level one and I think level two class being held in Franklin at the Williamson County Sheriff's range. It's not listed on his site though. Services give Denny a call to get his pistol schedule. -
I'm so sick of alternate fuel vehicles. That's why gas prices are so high. Obama and his comrades are trying to artificially raise gas prices to make alternate fuel a viable option.

I had a 6.5 Grendel, but got too frustrated with ammo availability and price. I recently sold it and thinking about a .308 platform for cheaper and more available ammo.

Man guilty of causing panic with unloaded guns in Orem mall
bigwakes replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This guy was obviously seeing how far he could go. Now he knows. I would like to know what prompted his numerous mental evaluations in the past. It would seem that the judge had more information about this guy than the news story let on. Is it his right to carry a gun? YES! Is it his right to be stupid? YES! are there consequences for stupid? YES! -

Commercial Appeal has updated its directory
bigwakes replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The thing that pisses me off is CA employees are not listed. Phill Valentine had a guy research all the CA employees with the state database and the list and the few who do have a permit are not on the list. You can find out a name and address based on a plate. My wife was getting some harassing phone calls on her mobile. I started carrying her cell to have some "words" with the fella. A couple days later a car was driving past my house a couple times and my neighbor who knew the situation got the plates. I used an online service for $25 and got the name and address of the suspicious car. I never found out if that was the guy, but the calls stopped and I didnt go further with it. -
I have the 22, 27, 34, and 35. Best firearm and best round good job.

Yep. I can't see paying the $500 for conversion unless it was an SBR receiver. Then it starts to make sense.

Goodman's Gun Show this weekend @ Fairgrounds
bigwakes replied to Grunt67's topic in Events and Gatherings
I may hit it Saturday before heading to CHMR. -
My guess is your first ten rounds probably hit the X directly. If your shots spread after 100 rounds it has got to be a fatigue issue. I deal with that too. One thing that helps me is to go over the fundamentals of shooting in my head as I start each mag after fatigue sets in.

I agree that is one huge head.

Using there logic 33 round clips are only used for killing lots of people, then a 10 round clip can only be use for killing a few people. I guess they are ok with that. I'm pretty sure assault clips are clipped on bags of chips at the house to keep them fresh. Have you ever clipped those on your nose....... they can really hurt someone.

I shoot my AR in the pistol pit quite often. Never knew it wasn't allowed. I think things have changed since Charlie took the range over. He is a little more laid back about that kind of stuff. His only requirement I am aware of for pistols or full auto is hit the backboard or berm. I have shot at 100 yard there with pistols.

Nice. Did Aim give you a price break for "dealer pricing"? My card was charged today by the ATF. At least I know they got it. I'm more interested in dealer priced reloading supplies. Not planning on a C&R purchase just yet.

Poll: Best Handgun for Competition
bigwakes replied to Sandman's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
If you want CCW and competition gun I would get the 19. I have the G34 and G35 for competing. -
Very tempting.

I have shot the stainless CMMG. It shot flawless.

I don't see the point. No matter how they intend for you to carry. I just don't see how it makes sense.

I have been pulled over 3 times while carrying. All three times I handed the officer my permit and DL. One cop asked where it was and I said small of my back. He said don't touch it and we will be fine. The second time was on a highway at night and the cop came to my passenger window. He asked where the gun was and I said in the glove box. I opened it and he asked me to hand the gun to him. Being a little too cautious I asked if he would get it instead to avoid any confusion. He did and brought it back to me unloaded with the pipe round loose and mag out. He laid it on the seat when he came back. The third time the gun was in my center console and the cop asked me to put it on the dashboard where he could see it. I thought that was strange, but oblidged. All three times resulted in a conversation about firearms and no ticket. I always hand over my HCP even if not armed. Even that has gotten me a warning a couple of times. I have slowed down in recent years, which is probably the best thing anyway.

The Tea Party is on the right track. They made a large dent in the political landscape and I feel like it's a snow ball rolling. 2012 is gonna be big, I just hope they don't screw things up beyond repair by then. Hopefully Boehner will at least minimize the damage. Whatever happened to the spending freeze Obama passed that was to take effect this year?
