  1. Will slings be required? Was the rules/scoring settled, IDPA vs IMA?
  2. I am hoping to be there as well. The stages look fun.
  3. If you schedule it on a weekend that does not interfere with the MSSA 3 gun, i bet quite a few of us would be willing to participate in a MC 3 gun championship.
  4. It is that time again. This saturday, Aug 20. See OP for link.
  5. I've had 2. The Miculek is the best deal at $29+/- at Cheaper than dirt. It performed well enough and is lighter than my current brake. Even though the Miculek did great with recoil, i felt it still allowed to much muzzle rise. So i got a SJC Titan. It is big, heavy and LOUD, but the rifle does not move. The Titan is around $90 new. There are a lot of good brakes. The flavors of the month are the Dynacomp by Spike's $90 and the Battlecomp $150. The are closer in size to the A2 flashider. I have shot the Battlecomp. It worked almost as well as the Miculek. Brakes have allowed me to cut my times for follow up shots (splits) in half. For one or 2 shots, it doesn't really matter. In big 3 gun stage the time saved in my splits can add up quick. Edit: I said the Titan is loud. When i shoot at a covered range, i have to use both ear plugs and electronic ear muffs.
  6. Del-ton has RIFLE KITS on for $465, not rifles. No lower. Del-Ton, Inc. AR-15 Rifle Kits - 16"
  7. To Cap: It looks rather generic compared to my other ARs, but i bet it will be more accurate. It wil be fun shooting irons for a while. Oh i just realized, some may not know what EE is. EE is the equipment exchange on AR15.com.
  8. Here is my new stick. More of a service rifle for matches. PSA lower, PSA lower parts kit, JP yellow springs Model 1 Sales A2 stock kit Spike's upper receiver PSA premium full auto BCG and Charging handle Cardinal forge carry handle off EE Armalite clamp on FSB Criterion (Kreiger) barrel: NM HBAR, 20", 1:8, wylde chamber, 410 SS EE handguards MidwayUSA remainder of small parts $812
  9. I've not owned one. I have shot a friends Mini-30. It was fun to shoot and had quite the penetration. for SHTF, i would get the Mini-30. Otherwise, neither. I would go AR. Currently ARs prices are very close to Mini's. ARs also have an advantage in modularity, accessories market, trigger, accuracy, etc. As for an alternatvie, what about the Kel-tec SU16? http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/rifles/su-16a/
  10. The show this past weekend was better than the last several. I enjoyed it. I found the small parts i was looking for without being robbed. I had to make myself leave without a Kel-tec sub 2000 9mm, Glock mag type. It was $319. That seemed like a good deal, but i have another project to pay for. Lets hope they stay this good. It wasn't perfect. There were some tables that had high prices, there was a beef jerky table and a few other wierd tables, but overall it was better.
  11. I shot a service rifle match a while back at MSSA. J.R. is a great guy. He helped me a bunch. I will be attending more of their matches.
  12. i've had a few small parts and an upper from DSA. All seemed to be softer metal than other manufacturers. I will not be buying any DSA AR stuff.
  13. the PSA sale is over.
  14. Yeah, a buddy drove 2 hours and the MD had already left. He didn't wait on stragglers. To bad. It is a fun place to shoot with a lot of good guys. I doubt i will be back either. If the MD would ever respond to emails or answer his phone, i might change my mind.
  15. 1st - The longer the FF tube the better. I would get 12" for mid or carbine and 15" for rifle. I like to reach way out. 2nd - Barrels - I dont think fluting is worth to much more money, but it looks great. personal preference. I dont buy flutes. 1:8 is the way to go. 4th - buffer spring - I dont see a reason for it. 5th - gas block - Both clamp and set screw can come lose. I prefer clamp on. Clamp on makes up for any tolerence slack. Just check it occasionally. 6th - mags - I like steel. any USGI are good. Just dont pay for the colt name. 7th - bolt carrier/bolt/firing pin - I dont see a need to match same as barrel, unless it is a match set for a high end barrel. Otherwise get a good full auto, pin shrouded BCG. BCM, palmetto state premium BCG, etc.
  16. I agree a 6.8 spc II will give you a more versatile platform. It gives you the options of uppers for all AR-15 calibers. If I were using a .308 for solely hunting at longer distance, i would rather have a bolt action. For practice and small game, the Ruger 10/22, Rem 597 or S&W M&P15-22 would be the options i would look at.
  17. I would have suggested a S&W 642, but it is a snappy gun. My next choice is a PPS. It light and thin, but it is heavier than the PM9, LC9 and PF9. Heavy enought to shoot all day without all the snappy recoil that wears your wrist out. Otherwise a Compact 9 double stack would be a good choice; M&P9c, Glock 26, Ruger(SR9c). All of the mouse .380's will be to snappy.
  18. I was in Goodletsville yesterday, drove right past your shop and never knew it. I hate i missed it. Next time i will not miss it.

    S&W m642 airweight

I too was ok with the heavy trigger, but my wife hated the 12lb trigger. The new Apex 9lb pull is still heavy enough to be safe.

    S&W m642 airweight

I got a 442 late last year for my wife. She didn't care for the 12 lb trigger, so i put an Apex carry spring kit in it. I liked it before, but now it has a much better pull, about 9lbs. This is my favorite pistol. I am glad my wife didnt like it. I have carried it quite a bit. It is lighter than my PPS and is very easy to conceal. It is great for coats with big pocket. Just drop it in. As you walking to and from your car, you can have you hands in your coat pocket on you weapon. You can shoot thru your pocket if the situation calls for it without worrying about the gun snagging in your pocket. Now with the lighter trigger, she may want it back.
  21. you can get tires next weekend. There will be some fun stages. If you are there, look me up. I will have the light blue jogging war stroller.
  22. 3 gun this Saturday. $10 for members, $12 for non-members. Sign in 9am.
  23. PSA lowers are good to go. I built a nice carbine with one. It went together perfectly.
