  1. Good choice. I got my M&P9 pro last september for 3 gun. It is awesome. I shot yesterday with it at the Henry county 3 gun. I am amazed how good the gun performs. Comfortable, easy follow ups, etc. I between 1000 and 1500 rounds thru it with only 1 failure to go to battery and if i remember right 1 stove pipe, otherwise perfect. It shoots low with 115gr. It shoots a bit higher with 124gr and best with 147gr. Even with 115gr i continually get 2 A zone hits. Mine is factory. I like it the way it is. I think i might get a magwell and mag extensions.
  2. It was small, to small to drive any distance. I happened to be in the area so i stopped. It had plenty of pistols, hunting rifles, some ammo, a few accessories and a little reloading supplies. It was worth it if you happened to be in the area. I found what i needed.
  3. I had a Rem 1100, which i just sold, and a Moss 930. The 1100, which is similar to the 11-87, has low recoil, reliable if you keep it clean and lubed. It is slower to reload, it requires more maintenance and is more expensive. The Mossberg 930's have low recoil, faster to reload, require less maintenance and are less expensive. You can read about my 930 in my earlier post. Both ran all ammo i fed them. I have about $700 in my 930. A generic 1100 will be $650+/-. After adding a tube extension an 1100 will be over $700. IMHO, the 930 is a slightly better option for 3gun, otherwise both are very good. If you get either and need a barrel cut or threaded, I used Rose Action Sports in KY. It cost me $65 incl. shipping.
  4. MSSA has USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, 3 gun, high power, lots of skeet/trap and much more. It is a further than 30 miles from Jackson, but well worth it. Matches are open to the public. Check it out here: Memphis Sport Shooting Association Henry County Gun Clup has some matches as well. Henry County Gun Club
  5. I don't have the SPX, i bought the 18.5" home security version. I switched out the 18.5 barrel for a 24 non ported vent rib barrel. I also added a +4 nordic extension, nordic charging handle and choate barrel clamp. I have put 200-300 rounds thru it. I have not had any failures. It is accurate, fast to reload and easy to maintain. Mine didnt need a break in. I shot winchester universal 7-1/2 shot, low recoil wolf slugs and high brass remington #5, all without issue the first day. I have read some older SPX's had some issues, but recent models are much better. Mine is for 3gun.
  6. Is rifle or pistol chosen for the entire match or do you chose for each stage?
  7. I can carry my 642 almost invisibly in a pocket with a small pocket holster. It wouldn't be a invisible as a LCP, but the LCR is a good size. With that said, i would prefer a LCP if i were to draw it to fire. If i thought i might have to shoot it out of a purse(if i were a woman), coat pocket, etc, i would get a hammerless revolver.

    Colt AR-15 9mm

a 9mm SBR is high on my wish list. I will probably start buying parts around Christmas.
  9. I like my MBUS set. I used them as true back up, so i dont use them much. But they seem to be reliable. Be warned. There are some chinese knock offs that are freeking identical. Buy from a reputable dealer.

    Need Another AR

I have been reading about the 300 AAC BLACKOUT (300BLK) . I uses standard AR mags and bolts. Just a new barrel. Same 5.56 casing with a 7.62 bullet. Wilson Combat is coming out with a 7.62 as well, but AAC has beat them to market and has a good bit of market share. If you dont like that, it depends on use. If you are shooting under 400 yards, 6.8spc, a lot of shooting over 500 6.5 grendal. The 6.8spc seems to has the best market now. But the 6.8 & 6.5 are both a lot more expensive than the 5.56 and the 300blackout may require reloading. I would not use any for a high round count, maybe for hunting, low round count stuff. I have known a few guys with the large caliber ARs, 500/458. They had very hard times with ammo and had a hard time selling them. I will stick with 5.56 until this wave of new calibers shakes out and one wins the market battle. So far i like the 300 blackout.
  11. The Taurus slims look good and seem like a good design, but i have read to many stories of issues. Especially with the sights being way off. That wouldnt be so bad, but Taurus CS is slow. You may not see it for months. The LC9 might be worth looking at.
  12. I had been using a Rem 1100 for 3 gun. It worked fine, but reloading was a small issue. I did have to keep it lubed, wet. I recently bought a Moss 930. This is a nice shotgun. a couple of hundred rounds down it with no issues. Except, i had the barrel threaded and the bead sight came off, but that was caused frnio the choke threading. The 930 is fast, light recoil, low maintenace and fast to reload. Today at a 3 gun match i put 2 slugs in a big jagged hole at 30 yards. The other slugs all grouped about 6 inches apart.

    AR Kit selection

i would look at del-ton, J&T Dist. first.
  14. my first choice would be a TRP springfield makes a hell of a 1911 and the TRP is a great springfield.
  15. Caster made some good points on twist. I would go with 1:7. It can shoot 55gr for plinking and home defense just fine, bonus it can shoot heavy bullets at distance thru wind better than the 1:9 twist. Daniel Defense barrels are cold hammer forged, some of the best barrels made. Maybe not as accurate as Noveske, but Noveske barrels are $450+ vs DD barrels are < $300. I would still give durability to DD. And M4carbine is another good resource.
  16. I think AR15.com is the best source for AR15 info. In each seperate forum there are stickies of tutorials, how to's, etc. you get 15 different answers, because there ARE 15 different answers. Colt is fine, but you spend more for the name. Bushmaster is ok, but they use some non milspec parts. S&W (which i have one), Spikes, Daniel Defense and Bravo are great and will range between $900 to $1300. Noveske, LMT, Mega are the "money is no object" ARs. If i were buying right now and had the cash, i would get a Daniel Defense V5. It is a midlength gas system, quad rail, light weight, etc. Great rifle. https://danieldefense.com/rifles/mid-length/daniel-defense-m4-carbine-v5.html
  17. PSA has a 3-5 day shipping policy because of all of the paperwork. My lower took all 5 days to ship. When i called that is what they told me. Otherwise the dozens of other orders i have made with them shipped within a day. I would call. Leave a message. I usually get someone on the phone, but if i dont and leave a message, they always call back.

  19. Come shoot with us this saturday.
  20. Are you sure it wasn't a S&W SD. They are around $399. They look very similar to th M&Ps.
  21. A friend shoots 3 gun using a 17 with a fiber optic front sight. It seem to work nicely. If you want to try USPSA major you will need full size 40 at minimum and good loads. I wouldn't compete with a compact or subcompact. Unless it is solely for practice with a carry weapon. I would only shoot IDPA with compact or smaller. I wasn't ranting, just thought the poll was incomplete. Once you clarified, i understood. Good luck.
  22. The UTG can be ok, but many are out of spec and the aluminum is very soft. YMMV. Mine was out of spec. YHM, Troy, Midwest Industries, Daniel Defense make some nice drop in rails. $100-160. Daniel Defense Omega 7 FF drop in rails are twice the price, $180-250, but are worth every penny in quality. They can be found on sale from time to time.
  23. I have been looking at this deal for a few weeks. You sold me. I just ordered a lower from PSA. After transfer it is $100 even. It is worth the hassle of a transfer, if you have a good FFL.
  24. The pivot pin detent and spring can be done with a hitch pin from Tractor Supply. Find one a bit smaller than the pivot pin. One with holes. Line up a hole in the hitch pin with the detent hole. Drop in the spring and detent. Use a punch or something small to push the detent down. Once the detent is low enough rotate the hitch pin. Use the pivot pin to push the hitch pin out. Once the pivot pin is in far enough, the detent will pop in place. We still launch one occasionally, but much less.
  25. he said he didnt want a conversion. I dont blame him. I dont like conversion. Not in ARs that i will be using for HD or 3gun. Besides the barrel twist is not optimal for .22lr. I vote for a S&W 15-22 MOE. It is a sweet rifle. This will be my next .22lr purchase. Hopefully summer.
