  1. You got that right! And never trust anything you have not personally tested. I recently purchased a new AR 30 rd mag, I planned to check it out at our 3-gun match, it fed but did not drop free like it should. I removed a bur on one of the spot welds and it is fine.
  2. !2 gauge shotgun with pistol grip firing 3.5" magnum shells one handed! Damn near broke my hand.
  3. I carry an old 2nd Gen. Glock 22 loaded with WW 180 gr JHP. With 16 on tap and 15 in spare mag I don't think I'll ever find myself short on ammo! It is so ugly I'll spare you guys the pic. On occasion I will carry a .38 spl S&W 649 bodygaurd, and when I can't carry a gun I pocket a Kel-Tec .32. The .38 is full of 135gr GDHP and the .32 is FMJ only. Any of these pistols should do fine in a bad spot, but I would prefer the Glock for its power and capacity.
  4. Get rid of that nickel plated sissy pistol and get yourself a Glock.
  5. Left the old man in the dust at Oct. 3-gun! The look on his face was priceless. He takes this stuff way more serious than I do!
  6. Thanks for the plug et45! Everyone is welcome at Clevelands IDPA match, all we ask is that you put safety first and have fun. Beginners are given the help they need to enjoy the game, and oldtimers who screw up get laughed at. It is all good clean fun. We would even let retired IDPA members without a card and with illegal gear play with us. (et45) We do have a safety meeting at 9:30 for new shooters, please be there for that. The schedule etc. can be found at www.rangeissafe.com
  7. The TN State championship is on the same day as CHRPCs local match, that means the "Big Dogs" will be in Manchester shooting for trophies! This is another chance for us no talent shooters to finish on top! Whatta ya say ET45, you coming out of retirement for this one?
  8. Been reloading for 26 years, don't do rifles rounds anymore, but load .38, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .45 Colt by the bucket full using a pair of Dillon 550s and the RCBS reloader special I started with.
  9. Welcome, you'll be right at home here.
  10. I shot this match last year and had a great time. Getting to shoot a fun match and helping less fortunate people around the holidays, it don't get much better than that. Come out and shoot this event if you can. The folks at ORSA are a fine bunch to spend the day with as well.
  11. Hey! Some of us second string shooters have to stay home and run the local match! Besides I still got home in time to see UT humiliate themselves.
  12. No such luck! Postal Match not sanctioned from on High!
  13. The results are up! 2144 shooters that is a big match! I finished 2nd SSP-EX out of 156 shooters and 20th overall out of 2144, not bad for an old man with bad knees.
  14. I thought IDPA= I Don't Practice Anymore. At any rate we need some new blood since some of our old has beens have quit.
  15. All guns are cordless drills
  16. Toss all that A-Merc brass it is not worth a darn for loading. The Federal mil-spec brass can be a pain as well, it has crimped primer pockets and is hard to reprime. It is marked FC and has a two digit date (FC 96) etc. The regular Federal brass loads fine. I have not had any issues loading S&B brass Rem, Win, Fiocchi etc. My .45 ACP collection has just about every brand known to man and it works fine. I spotted a piece of military brass dated 42 and I think it is the oldest brass in the bucket. I picked up some brass marked "Top Brass" recently, I had not see it before but it works fine. For rifles it is more critical to have good brass than for straight wall pistol cartridges, that is one reason I don't bother loading for rifles.
  17. Go Braves and take the friggin Falcons with you!
  18. I used to hunt rabbits with mine, nice clean kill and with FMJ no meat damage. Beats picking shot out of them, I don't think hunting with FMJ is legal though, and I don't hunt anymore anyway. I would guess that with the right bullet the AR would be fine for the little white tails that inhabit east TN.
  19. So far there are over 1,800 shooters who have participated in this years postal match! That is a big match!
  20. I carry a Glock 22 almost all the time with one spare mag. = 31 rds. that is alot more ammo than I would expect to need, but then I hope I don't ever need as much as one. When I can't carry the Glock I carry an S&W 649 Bodyguard with a Kel-Tec P32 ready for a Bronx reload. The only time you can have too much ammo is when you are swimming or on fire.
  21. I have not seen the photo, did not even know it exsisted. Would like to see it though. But yes that would be the gun. I remember when wearing surplus camo to matches was OK
  22. That is a good idea. When I take my girls shopping etc. I make sure that I am the first one out of the car to have a quick look around for any threat I may have missed while pulling in to park, that way if I decide to leave in a hurry they are still in the car and buckled up. When we return to the car I am the last one in so I can keep an eye on our surroundings while they get in and buckled up. It is a simple thing to do and it soon becomes second nature. Seeing and avoiding a threat is always better than shooting.
  23. Before this gets too wierd, lets get back on the topic of GUN lube.
  24. If seeing Deliverence makes you leave your gun at home I ain't going rafting with you! ( When I take my kids to the wilderness I would be not be doing my job as protector to go unarmed)
