The new Remington semi-auto shotguns (the V3) are getting high praise.  Took 4+ years to develop.  It is being sold at an attractive price point and is American made.  Maybe a Remington turnaround.

If you have an extra day the J.M. Davis Firearms & Historical Museum in Claremore, OK is worth going to.  Over 20,000 firearms on display along with 1200 German beer steins.  Free admission.  You will get tired of looking at firearms as there are so many.  I went to the museum when I went to the Wanamaker show.   One of the workers there told me that Davis collected so many firearms that he kept in a hotel he owned that workers had to going down through the ceiling of one room to get into it as firearms were packed so tight the door couldn't be opened.   To me Wanamaker's Show is the only gun show worth going to these days.  But I am an old geezer that grew up in the time of the 1960's Tennessee Gun Collectors shows and like the older guns.   The drive out to Oklahoma is not that bad.  I still drive out there each year to hunt doves for three to four weeks in Lawton at 68 years old in my 1998 Ford F-150. 

Carl sold his store.  It is now Shooters Supply in the same building.  There was a story about it in the Times Free Press in the last three days.

Any recommendations on a good gunsmith(s) to do action jobs on Smith & Wesson revolvers and general gunsmithing work on shotguns and old .22 rifles in the Chattanooga area?  Any information is appreciated.

I am 67 years old and wear Perry Suspenders every day.  Ordered several pair from Perry in different colors and all are the Big and Tall size.  Very comfortable.

Totally agree with Possumslayer.  Dislike (no hate) any kind of payment (even at 0% or 0.9%).  As long as I can keep a truck mechanically sound, reliable, safe to operate and it serves my needs I see no need for me change trucks. 

I have a 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab with 220,000 miles on it that I bought new.  I drive it out to southern Oklahoma every year to dove hunt and end up putting about  4,000 miles on it while out there.  Truck has been well maintained, kept inside, has never been wrecked, has no rust, bed was sprayed when it was new, has a bed liner and has only done a moderate amount of towing.  Just your basic F-150 with air, power windows and door locks and cruise control.  Live about 30 miles out of town and drive this truck at least once a week.  I like this truck and have about decided to get the truck mechanically rebuilt when something major gives out.  The interior would only need new seat covers and cushions.  Current paint is fine even with scratches.  I just plane like this old truck.  Just want to keep it mechanically ready to take off across the country if I want to.    While out in Oklahoma got to ride 100+ miles in a 2015 fully Loaded Chevy pickup.  Rode great, comfortable and had every accessory know to mankind.  The reason that the outfitter had the loan of the this truck was his two-year old loaded Chevy pickup had a small part go out in the transmission and he is good friends with the dealership's service manager.  The "small part" and its installation cost  $1000.  I decided then that the high cost of a new truck was not worth it.  Have I said I just like my old truck?

Also Kings Discount Drugs in Chipley, Florida is both a drug store and sells firearms.  Been there several times when going to Panama City Beach.

Saw one back in the late 1970's/early 1980's on the "Trace" road that runs down the middle of LBL. It was just south of the Kentucky line. Went across the road right in front of our vehicle. All three of us (wildlife/fisheries trained biologists) agreed it was definitely a mountain lion. Reported it to the then TVA Biologists on site and they said several mountain lion sightings had been reported. Also a friend over in Cannon county came face to face with one out in high grass in their pasture. The cat went one way and he went the other. This was in a valley where there were several herds of sheep. The coyotes were a real problem. For the week that the cat was seen around the valley no coyotes were seen, heard or any sheep killed. As soon as the mountain lion was no longer seen, the coyotes returned.   Check out cougarnet.org/confirmations. No, this does not in any way concern older women. Confirmations of mountain lions all the way to the east coast. Read in the latest Dakota Country magazine that the core of three populations of mountain lions in the Black Hills of South Dakota have reached saturation and mountain lions are being forced out. Probably has been going on for years. One cougar was killed in 2008 in Chicago. Genetics proved it was a 1000 miles from its Black Hills home. Very interesting.

If you are heading out to Yellowstone in October you need to check to see what park restaurants, hotels and park entrances/roads are open that time of year.  They seem to do off-season road work at time of the year.  Cody, Wyoming is a great town to visit with three great museums including the Cody Firearms Museum.  If you go to Cody from the park, I would highly recommend traveling the Chief Joseph Scenic ByWay.  Beautiful.  The Grand Teton/Yellowstone parks are a great vacation experience.

Bought an H&K VP9 at this store.  Had a very good buying experience (even my wife enjoyed talking "revolvers" with the salesperson). It seems that several of the salespersons are retired law enforcement.  Accessories and ammo prices are way too high.  I let my wife use the free range pass so she could shoot her S&W 649.  She enjoyed the experience.  We both wished they had a better selection of revolvers (we are "old people" approaching our 70's who love our revolvers).

My wife and I are going up to the Grand American Trapshoot next week and will be coming back through the Tiptonville/Reelfoot area.  I would appreciate any recommendations on a good fish restaurant to eat at up in that area.   Superposed

Obama won't lower the flag on the White House or any federal facility to honor these brave men.  Yet he lowered the flag to half staff for Nelson Mandela's funeral (not even an American citizen)  and couldn't wait to put rainbow lights on the White House when gay marriage  was legalized.    To quote Wisconsin County Sheriff David Clarke (an African-American and Democrat) talking about Obama: “Everything that he does just comes up wrong. I’ve never seen a president like this–that everything he touches tends to turn to crap,” he added.   I just hope Obama does not come to Chattanooga.

Does anyone have any experience with this 10 mm ammo brand/load or any of the Sig Sauer Elite Performance ammo?  I noticed that it is the cheapest 10mm ammo at Cabelas in Fort Ogelthorpe.  Any information is appreciated.

I referred to the .40 caliber as a bear caliber tongue-in-cheek.  He has a 10 mm Delta Elite.  I wish there was some way that we could find out what organs, etc. he hit.  The bear didn't go far as he could see the other two bears looking at it after he got inside the house.  Glad he wasn't hurt by the bears but it may be a different story with the bees.  He said they were very mad.

This is Me!!

I had a call from my stepson last night.  He lives outside of Sevierville on the side of a mountain and raises bees as a hobby.  He got home yesterday before dark to find three black bears (a sow and two almost grown "cubs") turning over and raiding his hives.  He tried to scare them off but one of the "cubs" came at him in an obvious attack.  He pulled his .40 caliber Glock and shot the bear 4 times at close range.  The bear went down in a heap.  The game warden that came to check out the situation said the bears are on the move looking for food.  The game warden was quite surprised the .40 caliber pistol dropped an almost two-year old bear like it did.  The bear was carried off by the game warden.

Bud's in Sevierville doesn't have that great prices on their ammo.  I was up there three weeks ago and the golf/gun store has a better price on the Blazer brass 9mm than Bud's.
