  1. FO sights that are sized and installed correctly should not fall out under normal use. I have several thousand rounds through my M&P Pro with Novak sights and have never had a problem. If something does happen to the FO it takes about 1 minute to put in a new one and costs almost nothing. I change my FO every few months just to keep it bright. Back to the original question: My Pro came with green front FO but I changed to red and like it better, at least for outside shooting.
  2. Had a great time. Yall did good.
  3. As much as I hate to disagree with everyone else, I am going to. If it makes you feel more comfortable to carry without one in the chamber then do it. Its true that the 1-2 seconds it might take you to rack the slide could be the difference, but then again, if the choice is defending myself a second slower or not at all I know which I would choose. When I first started to carry I did it with the gun cocked but without one in the chamber. After a short while I was more used to the concept of carrying and not once did I check my gun to find the striker down. After that I went fully ready. Your the one who has to feel right about it, do what you want.
  4. The shoot was a lot of fun. I think everyone enjoyed it. The videos are great, well done.
  5. Scores posted on the MCTS Home page.
  6. Randy shot in ESP. It was good to see you again Allan. Rick
  7. BUG matches are great for anyone wanting to try out the shooting sports. There is no drawing from holster and no on-the-clock mag changes.
  8. It was a fun day wasn't it. Eight good stages and wonderful weather.
  9. I don't use it any more, but Unique will load each of those calibers just fine. I'm sure there are others, but if you want to stick with one powder for everything you listed it wouldn't be a bad choice.
  10. I wouldn't consider the grip safety to be protection from a child discharging a firearm (if that is what you mean). Many have debated the usefullness of the grip safety. For me, I like it on my XD40. Is it safer? Who knows. What I do know is that it can't hurt and you never even know its there when shooting it. How ever you decide, I wouldn't let this be the deciding factor.
  11. Don't take this wrong, but make sure there aren't any 380s in there.
  12. Tough to go wrong with the XD line of guns. I have an XD40 that I shoot a lot. Great reliability and accuracy. The gun shoots better than I do.
  13. I have always used CCI primers in my Lee Pro1000 but have been forced to use Federal lately. I have slowed down and been more deliberate in seating them. So far no problems through about 900 rounds. I'll be switching back the first chance I get but for now I've got my fingers crossed everything continues to go well.
  14. Very true. I loaded some 147gr Precision black bullets to 1.135 and about every 10th round wouldn't allow the slide to go into battery on my M&P. I shortened them a touch and now they work fine. Titan, I wouldn't consider 9mm to be a bad caliber to start with at all. It isn't really a high pressure round (like .40) and there is a lot of information on the subject. What powder are you using.
  15. More than just bullet weight determine the best OAL. For a 124gr bullet like you are using, my guess would be to start at around 1.125". This is just a guess from what you have posted and not a recommendation. Do a little more research before you settle on anything.
  16. The XD is actually considered SAO.
  17. It rained the entire trip to Gallatin and I figured when I got there the shoot would have been cancelled. I got there and was surprised at how many showed up (14 shooters). It was my first time at their range and I had a great time. A bunch of good guys who put on a good shoot.
  18. The Music City Tactical Shooters steel shoot scheduled to Saturday May 2, 2009 has been canceled because of bad weather. See you next time and sorry for the late notice.
  19. I keep Federal HST 124gr +P in my 9mm.
  20. There is some stuff on our website geared to new shooters. Take a look and see what you think.
  21. They are fun guns. I have a Winchester 94 30-30 that I got 30 something years ago. It has always been a good shooter.
  22. It took about 80 days for mine to arrive in the mail.
  23. I load the exact same loads for my M&P9 Pro that MemphisMechanic listed. The 147s and 124s shoot great.
  24. Titegroup is a very good powder. It measures very well and goes a long way. It is a fairly hot powder that I personally wouldn't use with lead but it works great for plated and jacketed bullets. I use it for loading 165gr .40s and 124gr 9mm. It works well for both full power and reduced loads. It burns clean and isn't overly flashy or loud. It has quickly become my favorite powder.
