  1. I'm pretty sure it extends the from date of expiration not payment for renewal. Your driver's license is the same way.
  2. I have never been to IL and have no reason or ambition to go. But if for some strange reason I'm there and get stopped he is going to hear I'm a off duty police officer my id card and badge are here. If I was only able to carry via HCP there's no way I would attempt to carry in Illinois or even try to lie about an unloaded weapon in the car. That's just my personal preference. I hate lying and hate to be lied to. I'm not even familiar with the laws up there but I think I'll stay down here.
  3. A department bought weapon isn't nearly as expensive as a civilian bought NFA item. Either way he did something stupid and should have his ass kicked. Now if it was because something stole them any normal officer would have reported that immediately.
  4. Which name did this troll go by previously? Anyway I'm glad the OP had a pleasant interaction. I'm sure you didn't enjoy receiving a ticket but that's just part of the speeding game.
  5. What an idiot. And I'm sure in true government fashion they will have a new policy or memo come out screwing the rest of the people who weren't doing anything wrong.
  6. Is it being considered civil papers or an actual subpoena? Sumner County would probably have to contact Rutherford and send a copy to be served. When it's served they return it back to original agency. They don't have to do this and Rutherford County may opt not to do it.
  7. +1 Also always helps to get a computer savvy friend.
  8. Good story. Love hearing about parents teaching youngins about firearms at an early age.
  9. Your lucky, back a few years ago it took like 6 months.
  10. That is a switchblade and is illegal to go armed with. It doesn't say that it has open vertically from the handle.
  11. They replaced it with the Ford interceptor. Doesn't look too bad but as with any new vehicle will take a few years to work the bugs out.
  12. That is good and gets the point across. Only thing I would probably do is take out the gunbuster at the beginning and maybe reword that to something different. Good job on it.
  13. I don't have an issue with it being in Nashville if it wasn't so trashy. I wish it was a better condition and they were able to keep the trouble out but they can't and it won't change anytime soon. Yes the state capital would be the ideal spot for a state fair but the condition of the capital of our state is going down the toilet.
  14. The state fair is held on Metro Nashville property not TN state property. I didn't stay long at all when I went will probably not go back unless it's held somewhere outside of Nashville.
  15. Spring assisted knives are legal. Just make sure your blade isn't over 4 inches lol.
  16. You can't carry at TN State Fair. If I remember correctly the fair is posted but probably improper. They were using metal detector wands to scan everybody. They keep a few Metro PD at the gate so no go for the handgun. I went either last year or year before and had to get one of the on duty officer's to tell the guy at the front gate I was good to enter with my handgun. You won't miss much if you don't go. After sunset it get's infested with thugs and gangs.
  17. I believe somebody else brought this up not too long ago. I think they determined they needed dd214 with training record of handgun training. It wouldn't hurt to take the class if your not familiar with the state laws but the class is made for average joe off the street to pass. I would call down to TDOS to get the answer straight from them.
  18. I feel I don't deserve any thank you for the job I do. Now the men and women serving in the military on the other hand deserve to hear that day after day. My point is there are say 700,000 LEO in the U.S. but you have one run in with one idiot or see a news story and then blam out comes the negativity to whole field. I'm not here to change anyone's opinion but like you all I come to this forum also to unwind, see firearms related topics, and see what goodies are for sale. To the OP I'm glad you had a positive interaction and sorry I hijacked your thread.
  19. That's funny. Have you seen the Betty White video from that NPR skit. Hulu - Saturday Night Live: NPR
  20. About as rare as finding a TGO member without something negative to say about Law Enforcement in general.
  21. I would have to told them to go pound sand.
  22. That sounds about right. Lol. Seriously though control of the vehicle is all that is needed and control doesn't mean operation. I don't jack with the people sleeping in their vehicle the way I see it was they were smart enough not to get on the road and be a danger.
  23. If you are incapacitated and the weapon is taken from you at scene I take it to the police department and lock it up in the armory for sake keeping. When you get ready stop by and sign the property release and you got your gun back. If you make it to the hospital they have safes and will probably have their hospital security lock it up. I have had to secure weapons from a crash scene and have had my weapon secured by hospital staff while being treated either one worked like it should.
  24. Got ya, it is hard sometimes to understand someone's tone or point they are trying to get across just by typed chat in a forum.
  25. That statement is full of ****. Really going to start playing that card. I've met several black citizens with HCP along with several white citizens with HCP doing my job. Guess what the color of their skin doesn't mean anything. Certain people looking for an excuse want to say that crap.
