Open Carry in TN and laws about showing ID
Pain103 replied to sschrick's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
More than likely if you were asked to produce a HCP and you were open carrying and you refuse to produce the HCP you would be detained for unlawful possession of a weapon. If during the investigation they determined your HCP was valid and decided not to proceed with a charge then they will contact TDOS and have your HCP suspended. This is just a possibility not a set standard or a recommended way to handle it. -
Open Carry in TN and laws about showing ID
Pain103 replied to sschrick's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You must present a HCP permit if you are asked for it while carrying a firearm in Tennessee. So if you are just walking down the sidewalk OC and a LEO requests to see your HCP you must supply it. The few people I have actually seen walking around OC in general I didn't even look twice about them. Actually most permit holders produce it during a traffic stop voluntarily when I ask for their driver's license even though they do not have to. Don't worry even I have to show my creds/ID if some officer actually sees my firearm printing from my shirt. It happens it's quick and painless. -
I'll check my pile o junk. I should probably have some old glock holsters I don't use. I'll let you know.
-
If you can do it rapidly and by muscle memory then do it. I don't use IWB or supertucks so I have full grip when I draw. I draw the same as I do in my duty holster except no thumb retention device.
-
What kind of firearm is it? You may just find someone with an old holster that doesn't need it.

Yep, most guns aren't too bad once you figure the pieces out.

Carrying on private property?
Pain103 replied to IggyBcool's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The others answered it but read the laws for yourself. It's your responsibility to know the laws so you don't break them. Check lexisnexis for TN state laws. -

Recent Gallup polls on guns and ownership.
Pain103 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It all depends on the location. If 5,000 people from say Illinois answered and only 10 people from Tennessee it's going to be skewed. Guns are a normal part of our society down here. Most of us were shooting guns before we were in school. -
39-17-1307 (e) is the TCA code you are looking for. (e) It is an exception to the application of this section that a person authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-17-1351 is transporting a rifle or shotgun in or on a privately-owned motor vehicle and the rifle or shotgun does not have ammunition in the chamber. However, the person does not violate this section by inserting ammunition into the chamber if the ammunition is inserted for purposes of justifiable self-defense pursuant to § 39-11-611 or § 39-11-612

For a college class I would do a speech on why I dislike liberals and democrats. Now that would get somebody in a pissy mood.
-
Sounds like maybe your sights aren't mounted on the same level as your Eotech.
-
Do they regulate what model of back up/ off duty gun you can carry? I would assume from your post you're good but some places are weird about what firearms they allow and don't allow.
-
What does your departmental policy say? How long have you been a jailer at Sumner Co? To me all glocks are the same except for size of the gun and recoil from the different rounds. I would say go for a 27 especially if you are ever planning on going to the road then you will already have a good back up weapon that can use the glock 22 mags if needed.

The typical sentence/ plea deal for anybody with this charge in Davidson County is DUI 1st reduced to reckless driving dismiss the other charges and forfeit handgun. So I wouldn't be surprised if this at most what he gets. If he is a hardcore republican the Nashville Libtards might want to make an example out of him.

That 762 may fix his stupidity permanently if somebody pulled that trigger. But the real question is did you buy it?

The contempt for Dr. Ron Paul by the media
Pain103 replied to sigmtnman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I like some of his views and stances on topics but just something about him I just think I don't know about this guy. I'm not counting him out and haven't decided who I'm voting for yet. I'm going to do some more researching on him to see maybe if I just don't know enough about him. I agree on the media thing I think it has to do with he's not marketable on the media market. He really doesn't have the give and take during an interview maybe it's just he doesn't feel the need to BS like the rest of them. -
Guy stopped by cops while OC'ing - pretty interesting
Pain103 replied to piercedan's topic in General Chat
No you have no duty produce ID for a LEO if there is no reasonable suspicion. You are not even required to keep ID on your person except for a Driver's License in possession while operating a motor vehicle and a HCP in possession while carrying a firearm. Yes you must present a HCP to any LEO who asks for it if you are carrying a firearm. Concealed or Open doesn't matter. Refusing to do so can result in loss of HCP. You have no duty or legal obligation to inform about carrying a weapon but as many others said it isn't a bad idea. I personally prefer someone I stop to tell me, but if they don't I don't get bent out of shape. -
Well even if nobody can get you hooked up with a ride have a good anniversary. Make sure the wife is happy you know a happy wife is a happy life.

If you carrying your firearm and you are a HCP holder you must present it to any LEO who asks to see it. No, an LEO can't just walk up and demand ID for no reason they need reasonable suspicion not "probably cause" which I assume you meant probable cause. Probable cause would be the level of needed for a search which is higher than reasonable suspicion. That is TN only I don't work it any other state so I can't comment on what they do. Now operating a motor vehicle yes you are mandated by law to have in your possession a driver's license. If you fail to have this you can be cited and even arrested but typically at most it is charged as a traffic offense on a traffic citation. THP is the only agency granted the power by statute to stop and inspect for a driver's license. I haven't heard of any of them doing this in a long time but maybe it happens in other parts of the state. -
Is CC permitted at Predators Games

What are you going to sue them for? -
"There was no attempt to talk him out." Obviously he didn't want to talk if he had a freaking knife.
-
You could if done properly. But why would you give someone even more reason to bash your window and take your firearm?

I don't really endorse many things but after shooting this stuff I love it. Federal Premium Law Enforcement ammunition 00 Buckshot with flitecontrol. This stuff at 25 yards stays packed, it looked almost like a slug hit it. They also sell the personal defense version which all I can tell is the same thing with a different box.
