I've been to the outlet near Ann Arbor MI several times. I used to travel near there for business. If we finished early, I'd wander around Cabelas to kill time before my flight. I've bought a bunch of stuff from them and so far, all the "Cabelas" brand stuff (mostly clothing) has been of excellent quality. Cabelas makes Bass Pro look like a Dollar General. Gander Mtn is 1/4 the size with 2x the prices.

What he ^ said. Honestly, double the price is worth it. I've had a set of Infinitys in my car for nearly 10 years. They still sound excellent. Crutchfield is great for telling you what will and will not fit. Their prices tend to be toward the high end. The best option is to put high pass filters in-line with the speakers and add a powered sub. Door sized speakers simply aren't big enough to throw much bass.

Shooting pests (Squirrel, Rabbit, Etc) in Knoxville with an airgun?
peejman replied to a topic in General Chat
Growing up, I planted a large number of squirrels with a Crossman air rifle and then .22 CB's. In the city, in a subdivision. Our house backed up to a wooded area so there was a good backstop. Depending on your proximity to other houses and how noisy your rifle is, I wouldn't sweat it. There's plenty of squirrels to go around. That isn't possible in our current house. We have more rabbits than squirrels so I put a 24" high chicken wire fence around our small garden. It appears to work fine. And yes, an outdoor cat also works well. -
If you want rain barrels, why spend the money on food grade? Tractor Supply sells several rain barrels. We have a 50 gal barrel that was $90. One good downpour fills it up. I'd plan to boil or otherwise treat any water prior to drinking.

where is the coolest place leave loaded gun in the car
peejman replied to lsp408's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The lowest temperature area in the car (not necessarily the coolest ) is in the trunk if you have one, or somewhere on the floor out of direct sunlight. -
I've tried Makers... too sweet. If there's one called Knob Creek, I think that warrants a try just for the name. I'll try to remember to look around during my next liquor run.
-
This is the primary reason why I posted in this thread... I was trolling for suggestions. Now, if only I could find a liquor store that sold those beverages in small sizes so I don't have to spend $50 just to try them... If Mike FAILS me for that admission, I want to be the bus boy.

I'm guessing you were there in the middle of the day? Regardless of the zoo, the animals hide on a warm, sunny afternoon. The best times for actually seeing animals are early am, late pm, or on a cool, overcast day.

If "ground down" means what I think it means, no it can't be re-threaded with the same threads w/o shortening the barrel. Pics would help.

Most of their staff reviews discuss that very issue. The 4 person tents should sleep 4 people comfortably, if somewhat snug. Most have vestibules and such for gear. If you're backpacking with the family, I suspect you'd be happier with 2 smaller tents rather than carrying one huge one. If you're car/truck camping, leave your stuff in it.

Crown Royal. I would like to try some of the higher-end bourbon and cognac brands just to see it they're worth the difference.

This means they're scared of us, which is how it should be. I think a little civil unrest at election time is a good thing. Maybe it'll scare a few of our representatives into doing what we want. Personally, thought of the military being used against domestic civilians is a bit IMO. I think all the publicity surrounding the bank bailout, healthcare bill, etc. has done the USA a great service. Far, far more people are more aware of what's going on politically and are asking questions. The herds of ignorant sheeple are being reduced. Elected officials are becoming accountable again. That's a good thing.

Welcome! I used to work at TRW there.

Apartments suck. Neighbors in a campus apt had a party so big, they sold t-shirts after the fact with the description from the campus police report to help pay the fines. After school, people above me had regular drunken domestic disputes and harbored a fugitive for a while. It's fun when the SWAT team knocks on your door at 11pm and tells you to stay inside. It really is funny when your neighbor opens his window and starts playing the "Cops" theme and you hear the SWAT guys hiding in the bushes laughing. I currently have two unpleasant neighbors in my subdivision. Neither are noisy or otherwise annoying, just exceptionally unfriendly. The other neighbors are very nice.

Nah, they're lots of fun. Most of the time. A coworker with 2 in highschool and 2 in college made a very insightful observation in this regard..... "God made teenager's attitudes what they are so that it'll be easier for the parents to kick them out later."

Dad spanked me several times (all deserved) with a big wooden paddle, I think I turned out ok. I've swatted my 2 yr old on his diaper for being especially belligerent a time or two. It gets his attention right quick and he immediately apologizes. The assistant principle at my middle school had a very, very effective method. Thankfully I don't know this from personal experience, but I witnessed it enough times to know I wanted no part of it. Deterrence works.... Mr. Gooden had an aluminum paddle with "speed holes" drilled in it hanging on his wall. If a paddling was deemed necessary, it went like this (boy or girl). He'd make you walk the halls and follow you around, paddle in hand, for several minutes. All the classroom doors were open so everyone knew what was about to happen. At some point he'd tell you to stop and assume "the position"... hands on knees with head a couple inches from the lockers. He'd wind up and let fly, the impact would make your head smack the lockers. You had to count licks. If you were blubbering too much to count, he kept going until you did. More than 3 licks was rare. It'd make even the toughest, studly-est football players cry. Then you'd have to walk back to class while stiffling and knowing that half the school had heard you crying.

The Rain-X stuff works, or try some different style glasses. Look for some where the lenses don't touch your face, particularly across the top. The reason they fog is the heat and moisture from your face can't escape.

My son turned 2 in Feb. We've got locks on all the cabinets and toilets. He loves playing with cell phones and screams bloody murder when we take one away. He also loves to play in the tub and I wonder a bit how much water damage is being done while he happily splashes water everywhere. I usually end up nearly as wet as he is. He loves to "help daddy" when I'm working on stuff. That typically involves grabbing my tools and running away laughing. Chase is his favorite game. Though I can tell he does actually like to help and is learning some simple instructions... which reminds me, we think he threw away my wife's watch. Fun stuff.

You mean there's people besides Tiger playing? I assumed that everyone else would've conceded the title to him by now...

All this sounds similar to my wife. I started her with my MKI (bull barrel, target grips) and she liked it. I'll brag and say she shot a 3" group at 7yds. Then I let her shoot my PT145 (probably a mistake). The HUGE difference in recoil shocked her (it nearly jumped out of her hand on the first shot), though I'll give her high marks for continuing and emptying the mag. On a later range trip, she was hesitant to shoot my P85, but liked it once she tried it. She hasn't really decided on a pistol for herself, but is leaning toward an XD9sc. Regarding the comments about difficulty racking the slide... you're not doing it right. The trick is to hold the slide stationary with (at least) the last 3 fingers of the left (non-shooting) hand and drive the gun forward hard and fast under it. It won't work if she does it slowly... it's got to be a fast, aggressive motion. Once I convinced my wife that she wouldn't hurt the gun and made a few other comments to get her fired up, she racked the slide on my PT145 with ease. At which point she said... "oh, that was easy." A little googling tells me this is a fairly common problem. OE wood furniture or Tapco stuff? I'd just use a pair of needle-nose pliers to bend it back, but do so carefully. You'll likely have to disassemble the rifle to bend both ears. You may also use a small punch/drift to deepen the bosses on the ears. I think the lever should move freely once disengaged from the gas block. If it wobbles, you may need to re-buck the rivet to tighten it. Here's a good reference... +1. I have to pry the level up on my yugo. Seems a little judicious bending is in order.
