  7. I have loaded 7mm mag since I bought my Winchester model 70 in 1977. Have always used 160 or 162 grain bullets over a charge of 4350. Took numerous Mule deer with it out West. It's a really good flat shooting round. I won't get into the discussion about what round is best for deer. I just know it will work.
  8. Can't go wrong with the 870. Maverick 88 is a good choice if you have a tight budget. It's the same action as the Mossberg 500, barrels are the same etc.
  9. You can also rent HS gauges. Always check head space. I have checked 50+ and only found one that was out of spec (it was the bolt) but I always check.
  10. Couch Commandos can argue AR vs AK till the cows come home. Don't care Bring on the $300 AK and the $100 kits !!

    Remington R25

I thought DPMS made them for Remington.
  12. What he said and push out the 2 pins holding the trigger plate. If their is a shell caught between the lifter and bolt it will be free. This can be caused by "short stoking" the slide. Does the 870 have the flex tab lifter? It is designed to allow you to clear without disassembly. Put it back together, shoot another 1000 rounds.

You need 6 US made parts unless barrel is not threaded - then 5 US made parts. FCG - 3 Pistol grip - 1 Slant brake -1 Gas piston - 1 Mag follower - 1 or US mag - 3 PM me about the parts.

Tapco FCG - $30 Pistol grip - $10 Slant brake - $8 Gas piston - $12 Used AK stock - $10 Looks like around $70 Slant brake not needed if the barrel is not threaded or you don't want to thread it.

MAK90s are great AKs. Nice blued finish and built much better than most out there. The thumbhole stock has to go - way too small for my paws. I have "debanned" 2 without a problem. Used tapco FCG, pistol grip, gas piston and brake. That's 6 US made parts for 922r. The butt stocks had to be fitted but that was easy. Ironwood Designs makes nice US made wood, it's just more than I wanted to spend. The 223 had a barrel nut spot welded in place. That was easy, cut the spot weld and install brake. The 7.62 was the right diameter, just had to thread it.
  21. Check recent sales on a well known broker of guns website. I'd say $900-$1000.

    AK Build

Not hard with the right tools. Bare minimum you need a rivet tool. Modified bolt cutter works well. Removing barrel pin can be difficult without a press. Barrel can be pulled from trunnion with a gear puller and pressed in with a threaded rod. Pressing barrel with a trunnion support on a press is better. Shoot me a PM.
  23. The folding stock doubles as a tortilla press !
