What a shame. But the comments are pretty funny!

SEE ALL open sight. Anyone seen or tried one yet?

Oops. Didn't see that on my phone. Thanks. -
Thank you. Edit: Oops. That was a sticky already, wasn't it?

SEE ALL open sight. Anyone seen or tried one yet?
Clod Stomper replied to jaxjohn419's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Wish they had a pic of the sight picture on the website. I'm intrigued by the concept, but I'm too "frugal" (cheap) to shell out 100 bucks on something when I can't even see how it works. -
It does seem pretty clear. If you ONLY own AR or AK pistols, don't have a stock in near proximity, basically. Oh Shoot, could you provide a link to that SCOTUS decision? May be something I'd like to print.

I have an old-school Mini-30. I can attest that the accuracy was pretty hideous. Slung up and in prone, the point of impact would wander as the barrel heated up. It was predictable. It would print a "J" shaped group at 25 yards, moving 2-3 inches in the process. That is up to 12 minutes of angle! Being a tinkerer, I couldn't help but spend more time and money than the carbine is worth to improve the accuracy. I had the barrel cryo-treated. That solved the lateral POI movement. I had the barrel shortened and threaded and added a muzzle attachment. That helped the vertical stringing. Before I did those things, I added a "stabilizer bar" under the barrel. That also helped the vertical stringing. After the mods, I didn't put the stabilizer lug back on. It seems to be acceptably accurate now. That's with Wolf ammo. I suspect that if I handloaded some good ammo, the groups would shrink more. I'm not a benchrest shooter by any means. 4 MOA is barely acceptable and 2 MOA is plenty accurate as far as I'm concerned. But 12 MOA just will not do. I'd rather have a shotgun. I need to dig out that old Mini. I haven't messed with it in a while.

Ejection port door hinge clip
Clod Stomper replied to Dustbuster's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Don't tap it. Press it on. Same goes with roll pins and taper pins. Like stated above, use needle-nose pliers for the C-clip. For roll pins, try Vise-Grip or Channel-lock type pliers. Wrap with tape where prudent. Always try to PRESS rather than HAMMER. It took a lot of skint finishes and lost parts for me to figure that out. -
Aim Surplus has some Odin Works barrels. They're about the same price as the AR Stoner, though. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=816&name=ODIN+Works+Stainless+Steel+Barrels I just bought the DMR 18" with rifle length gas port. Haven't shot it yet, but it looks good. The gas system length has nothing to do with rifle or carbine buffer, spring and tube. That will depend on which stock you want to use. And yes, the buffer tubes are different.

Aren't there some newer polymer plates that are the best of both worlds? Lightweight and don't shatter.

Chrome molybdenum is the composition of the barrel steel itself. Chrome lining is a relatively thin layer of hard chrome inside the chamber and bore of the barrel that is much more durable than steel. So, yes, it can be both.

I actually knew that. I was meaning to poke sarcasm at the dumbarses in the legislature. But my words not work good two-day. My bad.

That's ridonkulous. So if this passes, the carry permit becomes concealed only? Psssh. Have these empty suits absolutely no common sense? Wait... that was a silly question.

Try this site too. I haven't dealt with them, but they've been around a while. http://bulletproofme.com/

Did you make that? Or did I miss the brand?

I have not. I guess most things Alaskan would be foreign to me.

That doesn't look like any walmarts that I've ever seen.

I guess I was wrong about the swarm. I'm not a beekeeper. I do know that I've been stung by, and have seen others stung by, aggressive honeybees when I was tens of yards away from the hive on a nice hot summer day when they were really buzzing around. Just wanted to mention the potential for future stings if they stay in the porch. Thanks, Will

SMOKIN' Deal @ PSA on an already cheap upper!
Clod Stomper replied to musicman's topic in General Chat
To be honest, this is only a slightly better deal than the $300 uppers that include BCG and charging handle (this one didn't, I don't think). Add in a BCG and CH and that goes up to $289. If you already have a homeless BCG laying around, this was a screaming deal. Otherwise, the $300 deals are almost as good. Since I DO have a homeless BCG laying around, I'm pretty disappointed that I missed this deal. -
They may not bother you now, but later this summer, they will "swarm" and you could get stung just by being in the vicinity. BTDT. If you were closer, I'd pay a real beekeeper to get them and bring them to our farm. My Papaw used to keep bees and there are one or two hives left, but it would be nice to have some more.

Different scenario, but I'm in Knox County, just outside the city limits. Last year, I had to shoot a coon that was trying to get into the doghouse with my MIL's dog. It appeared to be a case of distemper to me. I notified the county, just in case they were interested in an infected animal. Nope. Only if it had contact with anyone. The only contact I had was scooping up and disposing of its carcass. I even told them I shot it. They had no interest. YMMV, of course. Especially inside the city limits. But probably not.

I think a Con-Con is an extremely bad idea. I'm not convinced that it can be limited to one or two amendments. I fear that the entire Constitution will be up for grabs. When were the first 32 Con-Cons held? As far as I remember, the only Constitutional Convention in this country happened in 1787 and it replaced the Articles of Confederation with our present Constitution. I have little faith that that would not happen again. Yes, it could get worse. Much worse.

Until a few days ago, I'd never heard of it and then I get a couple promo emails and it seems to be everywhere. Apparently, it's a new way to attach accessories to AR free float (or other, probably) tubes. What accessories? How does it work? Is this the latest tacticool fad or a new standard? Here are a few different manufacturers I've found. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-KMR13-Free-Float-Handguard-p/bcm-kmr13.htm?utm_source=Copy+of+KMR+Launch&utm_campaign=RMR-Proctor-Multitasker-Newsletter&utm_medium=email http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2852731674/product?cm_mmc=pe_weekly-_-specials-_-specials_prospects_20140318_1-_-AdBlock09 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2922114288/noveske-nsr-keymod-customizable-free-float-handguard-ar-15-aluminum-black http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2344327754/midwest-industries-k-series-free-float-keymod-handguard-ar-15-aluminum?cm_vc=ProductFinding

Good score. I wish I had bought a Finnish Mosin when I had my C&R. The Finns Took a robust rifle and made it a real shooter.

I think that's a tank. If so, count me out. I go nowhere without my Abrams.

Cool. Thanks. We do have a books a million. I'll check there. Otherwise, I'll pick one up from David at the next show. I don't think that's until May, though.
