My LGS was at the last RK show I went to in Murfreesboro. I had been eyeing a new S&W M&P 15-22. They were marked down by about 10% to sell at the show. Same on several handguns too. Maybe that just means their everyday price is too high, I'm not sure. I do know that NOBODY else at the show was selling 15-22's cheaper, b/c I looked at EVERY table b/f I bought one.

This will sound like we are paranoid at my house, but we aren't: I have the ADT security signs, the system is hooked up to VOIP (internet phone) instead of land line, 2 big scary sounding dogs, 2-way deadbolts on all doors with glass near by, enough guns to start a small war, plenty of ammo, and everyone in my house is a decent shot. Wow, it does sound paranoid when I list it all out like that. The alarm was free for one year when we bought the house, so I'll let the monitoring lapse when the contract is due to renew. The rest is just good old fasioned common sense to me.

That's cheaper than my LGS (Specialty Arms in La Vergne) charges. They want $50, which I refuse to pay. At those prices plus shipping, I seldom see any savings over buying directly from the LGS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I mailed my forms on 7/28 and the funds cleared my bank on 8/3. Now I wait. Does this license allow you to buy C&R weapons at gun shows without all the usual fees/checks?

I don't have 1st hand knowledge of this range. I shoot almost every week at a TWRA range b/w La Vergne and Mt. Juliet. I guess I assumed since my local WMA range has a pistol range, they all did. My bad. I wish mine had a place to shoot shotguns

Is that a Leapers UTG bipod? Did you mount it on a swivel stud or with a barrell clamp?

Here's a good resource: Tennessee Gun Firing Ranges Archery Range Rifle Pistol Shooting. They list one in Crossville (FFGSC - Trap, Skeet, Rifle, Pistol, ATA Shoots, SCTP, PPC, SASS) and Cookeville (The Bend of the River Web Place <TITLE>).

There's a range I've heard good things about in Franklin. It's called Uselton Arms and has an indoor range (Uselton Arms Shooting Sports - Indoor Shooting Range - Franklin, TN). It's closer to you than Nashville. If Murfreesboro is closer, you might try OnTarget (Indoor Shooting Range Firearms & Concealed Carry Permit Classes - Murfreesboro, TN - On Target Indoor Gun Range). Starting on Aug. 15th, Yanahli WMA Firing Range is open on Wednesdays from noon to 6pm if that helps. It's run by the TWRA, so it's cheap and safe. Fee required: Adult (age 16 or older - $5.50 for 2 hours), Youth (under 16 years of age - $1.50 for 2 hours). Permits are Type 48 (adults) and Type 49 (youth). Directions: Located at 1780 New Lewisburg Highway. From Nashville, take I-65 to Exit 37. Drive toward Columbia. The range is on the east side of Fountain Creek and the south side of Highway 50 (Lewisburg Highway).

I assumed WC had holes to skimp on the meat.

I guess if I swillled a 6-pack a day, I'd drink something cheaper. I'm a light-weight when it comes to alcohol (2 beers at a time at the most).

Yuengling is my 1st choice, but I'll settle for Amber Bock if the store doesn't have it.

OnTarget is fairly nice, but I've had the exact opposite experience with crowds. I have waited 20 minutes for a lane before and my buddy would have to share until another freed up. I like Stones River Hunter Education Center better myself, b/c I prefer shooting outside. There's not a cleaner, safer public place to shoot IMHO and it's only $5.50. My next pistol will be a CZ 52, if I can find one when I have the money. Every time I get the money something else comes along before I get my hands on one. Most recently it was a S&W 15-22.

I try to find a new "what's the best .22" thread to read every week or so on one gun board or another. There are some great old debates and many new ones too. Some go back 7 or 8 years and the same 2 get the most nods when price is factored in, the Browning Buckmark and the Ruger Mark II (or any Mark for that matter). These 2 have stood the test of time and are in the same price range new or used ($350 +/-). In most of the threads I've read there a LOT of fans of both and their owners have mutual respect for one another. I have a Mark II with the bull barrell and it's a real tack driver, but I hold no bias against the Buckmark. You cannot go wrong with either, since they are steel and rugged as a tank. The weight of these 2 steel beauties is a big part of why anybody can shoot them well. Both will still be running when you teach your grandkids how to shoot.

From a logical perspective I agree with tntnixon, but only b/c of that tired-a$$ "any enemy of my enemy is my friend" belief. That's no way to exercise your rights, picking the lesser of two evils. Mostly I agree with the oldsmobile98 and the Mikes based on my principals. If you aren't satisfied with your choices, don't choose. I don't like Haslan too much, but if a bunch of us didn't vote for him due to our principals and the liberal gets elected by that margin or less. Will we have really won? Was sending the message worth it? That's how I've been voting since 1992, when I contributed to Bill Clinton getting elected by wasting my vote on Ross Perot (btw...I worked for him until Dell recently bought his company). Slick Willy got elected by plurality not majority, b/c Perot split the conservative vote. In all fairness Ralph Nader saved us from Al Gore too, though, in the same way.

Wherever you wind up, it's good to know where to get good chili...I think John Wayne said that, if not, I'm sure he was thinking it I like a velvety smooth rich sauce instead of brothy or soupy. I like pintos instead of kidney beans and tomatoes are welcome as long as they don't try to be the star of the bowl. I grew up with hamburger meat flavored chili (read: mostly made up of beans), so steak or shredded beef is wasted on my pallette. Laugh all you want, but the chili at Krystal and Waffle House is how I like it. I know how funny it sounds to name those 2 when recommending chili spots, but I make no excuses for how I like my chili.

I feel like a caveman. I just use a 2-sided whetstones and a smooth honing stone.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I once clicked it several times and checked my mouse to see if the battery was low before I remembered.

Tim, I think you guys do a great job up there. I knew you had a lot of folks in and out, wouldn't have guessed over 13,000...wow! I bring my kids all the time and appreciate the emphasis on safety. I see what you mean about silhouettes. Maybe it IS easier to say no than to judge case-by-case. BTW...this is Kevin from high school and I wanna know why knowing the boss hasn't gotten me any discounts or special privileges yet , LOL.
