  1. Just one stage or multiple. Any idea on round count.
  2. It will be interesting to see the format. I emailed for info and got a response but it was kind of generic. Not sure how up to speed they are on actual three gun as far as commonly established scoring and divisions. Should be fun regardless.
  3. Depends on your shotgun and choke combination pattern.  In general, whatever choke allows you to knock down 4-6 inch steel plates from 10-25 yards while using 1145fps 7.5 or 8 shot.  In general that is going to be a light modified or modified choke.  How close no-shot targets are also factors in to the decision.     I use a light modified choke 95% of the time.
  4. Very good shooter.  Nice and accurate.  I like it.
  5. I sat there last night waiting to place my order for my next fix.  Got it.  Just have to wait for August now.  3 gun is a powerful drug.
  6. Sounds like fun but unless you have some kind of rules pertaining to parking, no one will ever take you serious as a club.
  7. Simulators of this type are fun and can  be beneficial.   But it is not firearms training; it is shoot/no shoot discretion training.  Even in that regard, it only works well if there is someone there who knows what they are doing and can properly debrief each scenario.  Otherwise, it is a big video game that is fun.
  8. Good match today. Cold but a good match. Had a chance to talk to a couple of TGO members. Nice talking to. You guys.
  9. Who is not going is more like it.  It is too close for all the local 1 gun shooters not to go.
  10. The Vortex is popular. It is a nice scope. Much of its popularity comes from being $1000 less than the Swaro Z6i.   Before true 1 power variable scopes became available, the ACOG was very popular. It has quickly become displaced by the 1 power variables. Much like the 1-4 scopes being over taken by the 1-6 scopes. In my experience, I have seen more people up-grade to a quality scope over any other piece of gear. They usually start with an entry level 1-4 power, or even less versatile scope, and usually end up with a 1-6 variable. I haven even seen someone start with the Vortex 1-6 but only sell it to get a Swaro Z6i. Are such high end scopes necessary, not at all. Do they help, most certainly.
  11. Peace.  What have you done?  What were you thinking?  I think I warned you.  There is no turning back now.  IDPA is like crack.  It's addictive.  Just wait till you try 3 gun.  It's even worse.  It's like meth but you get to keep your teeth.
  12.   63rd.  About the same as last year.  I crashed and burned big time on stage two, was 220th on it.  Had I shot it conservatively, I would have placed in the upper 30's.  That's the nature of the game.  Hade two stages were one bad shot moved me over 50 positions for the stage.  It was still fun.  I am just ready to go from 30-50 second stages of the Pro Am to the 1-3 minute stages of the Blue Ridge.
  13.   I love the challenge and the fact that the past two Blue Ridge matches have been my best.  Yes, I will be at the match in Dec.  Looking forward to it.
  14. You need to check out the Blue Ridge next.  It is not as festive or big since there is no AM side but it is a great match and my favorite.  The Pro Am is like a drag car race.  The Blue Ridge is NASCAR.
  15. The fun begins tomorrow.  Walked five of the pro stages today and they will be fast and furious.  Nothing long range at this match. Max distance is around 340.  This match is made for speed. Looked like more vendors this year and the JP side match looks fun.
  16. It really is worth the trip.  The who's who of not just the 3 gun world but the shooting world in general will be there.  It is just too short a trip to pass up.
  17. There are several three gun shooters in middle Tennessee but there are ten or less dedicated and serious 3-Gun shooters in the area.  I know I was very intimidated by the variety of equipment and rules when I started.  it is really not that bad though.  I would be more than happy to provide any assistance in learning the game of 3-Gun/Multi-Gun.  You would have to provide the range.   Just send me a PM and we can discuss my experience and what you have in mind.
  18. The instructors there are known more by their reputations in the police and training communities than they are by after action reports.  Many of their students are working police officers with little time or care for AARs.  Very much a word of mouth school.
  19. Look into the offerings from PRI, Personal Responsibility Inc..  They are a well established school and offer excellent instruction.  They do not do much marketing but stay busy by referrals from previous students.

Try Academy Sports.  That is where I got mine at the end of last month.
  21. Surefire G2 LED or similar Surefire model in a Viking Tactics mount.
  22. Palmetto State Armory has CCI AR Tactical .22 - 40 gr.- 375 round bulk pack in stock for $21.99.
  23. I was a fun match and MGM went home with at least two fewer pieces of steel. More than one gun got left behind on stage 8. We had a squad member leave his and have to retrieve it the next day.
  24. I hate that I missed the Kemp sighting at the match today.
