Gone ballistic, its not just that they have a gun its that the gun is pointed in your direction when facing the target. -
DHS supplier sells targets of american gun owners

LE agencies from across the country have been using these types of targets for a long time. It's nothing new. "No More Hesitation Targets were designed to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training. No More Hesitation faded background enhances the isolation and is meant to help the transition for officers who are faced with these highly unusal targets for the first time." from letargets.com I will agree that their targets are disproportionally caucasion males, followed by caucasion females, but they do have a variety of targets in both genders and multiple ethnicities. and a variety of decals to alter the targets from threat to non threat. Its hard to get your body to react a certain way when your mind is not cooperating, the no more hesitation targets are designed to assist you in realizing that a threat can come from anyone and to make it psycologically easier to pull the trigger if you have to. For any that havent read it Dave Grossmans novel on killing goes into depth about the psycological training involved in making it easier to shoot a person. I think i've read all of his novels but that one is definately worth reading if you haven't. -

Some would call it messed up, some would call it prudent. The goal is to get the officers to the point that they no longer see children, women, elderly etc. just threat vs non threat. Personally i don't have any problem with it. -
STAHD, from another stay at home dad thank you for correcting the "lady" i can't stand peole that do crap like that. For my part of the rant It seriously Irks me when im out with my little girl and people say aww your babysitting today. It's always the little things that get to me, but im a father not a babysitter. I left the Army after 10 years to be a stay at home dad and although it was a great ten years it pales in comparison to just a few months of time with my baby girl.

I was thinking of something along the lines of a RC airsoft apache

Due to customer response they have reversed their decesion. "While we thought we were doing what's right, this is your brand - and you told us in large numbers to change our decision," the company said in a statement released today. "You spoke. We listened. And we're sincerely sorry we let you down." http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/makers-mark-wont-cut-alcohol-content-192224565--abc-news-Recipes.html

You may have overpayed a little but not terribly so. TIC's you would have paid either way and technically you are supposed to pay sales tax on items ordered out of state just no one does it. then add in shipping and transfer fees and and that overpayment starts narrowing considerably. I've always been one of those guys that would prefer to buy local even if it does cost me slightly more just for the fact that i am giving my money to local business. It always helps to when you get to walk out with it right away as opposed to waiting for an order to process and ship. Congrats on a great gun

I think a good business model should take in to account the reality that the majority of your customers have a limited income and that it is better for your business if that income is spread around to multiple items that you carry especially if you are distributing for a multitude of manufacturers. I know ethical business is not necessarily always good business, but good business does not need to be unethical either.

The 21ft rule - fail "these officers did not have to get cut"
c.a.willard replied to mcurrier's topic in Training Discussions
if he would have had that rifle pointed at the guy instead of carring it in his non firing hand he probably could have beat it at 3 foot -
Heres a good video showing how to replace the spring. The video is for the wolf spring upgrade but the process is the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQB7Lu6rZU4 You can always disassemble it and find what is broken yourself and ask taurus to send you just the replacement part. Also trigger springs usually only run somewhere around 4 dollars. https://www.gunsprings.com has them available, your looking at around 7-15 dollars after shipping depending on shipping method. Dont know if you ever make it up to clarksville, but if you do and your not comfortable tearing it apart to find the broken peice i'd be glad to help. I am not a certified gunsmith but i have worked on hundreds of M9's

I truely hope they go under due to their handeling of the current market situation.

Its most likely just the trigger spring. The spring is very easy to replace on your own.

For the most part i'd suggest avoiding using a bag for this type of thing. It gets in the way, may snag on things and makes additional noise. more is not necessarily better but If you feel you absolutely have to have more than the gun and a flashlight than a decent LE duty belt would serve your purposes well and give you faster access. Also not sure if you already have a alarm system for your home, but if you do look into wether or not they offer a key fob remote with a panic button, It allows you to notify the alarm company/police without having to make a phone call. Whatever you choose to do do some dry runs with your chosen equipment to figure out what works well for you and what doesnt.

jonnin beat me to it. I was about to say have you removed the cylinder. There are frequently makers marks in the hidden areas.

Federal Government Urged To Patrol City’s Streets
c.a.willard replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thats no different than the authority of any other police agency. -
Ive said this before, I would not necessarily be opposed to some form of FOID that would waive the background check required and allow private individuals to transfer among themselfs. It would meet the intent of universal background checks and make the transfer process a little easier.

Machine gun fire from helicopters over Miami
c.a.willard replied to Solver's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thats the problem with assumming, theres no way from the sidelines we can know where these guys next mission will be. Its speculation as to what they were firing as well, be it blanks or nuematic guns. Granted it is for the most part informed speculation but speculation none the less. What is a known is that these guys require highly specialized training, that the local government approved this training, that the local police supported this training and that someone fairly high up in JSOC/DOD approved the operation. We also know that no one was hurt during the training and for all my searching i cant find anything confirming blanks were fired. If they were they were apparently done in a way that brass wasnt falling near citizens in the area or if any did fall and was recovered it wasnt reported. -

Carter I dont mind a regular civilian using a public venue to train in, if they go to the local government and police and get prior approval for the training and ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place. Thats the key peice of the argument that people seem to be overlooking. The local authorities supported this training excersize. They support it because it is mutually benificial. -

So what was the point of that last post? Were you trying to insinuate that someone is a sociopath? Maybe we can get off the topic of trying to insult others or comparing our intelligence and get back to the discussion and the merrits of each persons views. TMF, Myself and many others maintain that in order to effectively train tier one units must go outside the normal channels. This provides them with the most realistic trainig that they can get and prepares whem for their global mission. You seem to take issue that it is not a controlled enviornment and poses an undue risk to civilian wellbeing. My natural argument to that would again be that the local agencies and governments signed off on it, so obviously they did not see a significant risk there. Additionally anyone who has planned training will tell you risk reduction and midigation are a a major part of the training plan. It has also been argued that there are other areas these units could have trained. This is only partially true those large dedicated training areas are usually reserved by units up to a year out and therefore not necessarily available for a rapid deploying unit to take advantage of. Additionally those areas do not have true high rise buildings and the complications that come along with them. Finally that unit may have already trained in those areas so many times that it was beleived they had maximised the training available from that area and had to move on to new training grounds to change it up. Others beleive that the US military has no business training in US cities, to which i would counter that the US military has a standing mandate to conduct defensive operations for this nation. Depriving them of the ability to train in cities that would likely be targets if any type of enemy attack or invasion were ot happen would be depriving them of the homefield advantage. -
If its shipped into this state has to go thrugh a FFL here. If you go to Georgia to purchase it you can go through a FFL there. Federal law allows you to buy long guns from neighboring states via a FFL but not via a individual purchase.

Its done using hydrographics. There are a number of different shops that a quick google search will pull up. I don't know anyone personally that has used any of them so i cant make a specific recommendation.
