  1. I'm a big fan of on your person.  day planners, brief cases etc aren't really any faster to draw from than a waste holster and take your mind off of moving, the big thing is being able to move and draw quickly.  The close range that you are describing is all about buying time, milliseconds count.  The more time you can buy yourself the better.  A good start is ensuring that you have a chair that you can get out of quickly, preferably faster than the other guy/gal.  With this being the case i would consider the possibility of switching out your clients to one that slows their ability to get up quickly.  With you being a psychologist i am assuming your familiar with the subtle clues that someone is about to attack.  Another thing to consider is the kind of angle you are at to the client.  I understand you cant go to crazy with angles, otherwise it's off putting to the client, but making things more of an oblique as opposed to more square will make the person have to move more to get a good hit. the average mans arm length is around 32-34 inches, with you being at 3 foot from the client you are in effect immediately within arms reach.  Learn to use this to your benefit and position your body accordingly.  If your right handed keep your left side slightly closer to the client, this allows you to use that left arm to exercise some level of control to include deflection of the bad guys firearm.   Understand there is a possibility beforehand that with a gunfight this close you are likely to be shot, being shot does not equal being killed.  if you can even just deflect the bad guy to a non vital area it still keeps you in the fight.  I would highly suggest avoiding getting shot, but the reality is that your mindset must be prepared for that possibility.  There is obviously much more to winning a fight at close range than the little i have posted, but it is late and i need to sleep..    Last bit of advise, Suarez International  offers a zero to five feet gun fighting class that i have heard nothing but praise for.  I have not taken it myself it is on my list of classes i need to save up for.  If your interested in their course i would PM Cruel Hand Luke and inquire about availability and course locations.
  2. A senate impeachment trail of holder is likely to never happen.  Even if it did gain momentum the most it would do is cause his resignation in lue of the senate hearings.  I for one would be okay with that outcome.  personally i don't think the senate would even give it the consideration it is due, but that is because they are as dysfunctional as any other part of our government.   The impeachment process has to be public record, and i honestly don't think the administration would be willing to have holder's ineptitude officially confirmed.  It would open the door to blame many others that have covered for his short comings.
  3.   around a shot and a half to two and between half and 3/4 of a can depending on the glass im using and lots of ice
  4. As long as there here we might as well argue about water rights instead.  Might be more productive. :stir:   In all seriousness though, it sounds like fallschirmjager got screwed over by an out of control security idiot and potentially a couple of cops that should have known better.  End result could have been a lot worse, glad it worked out ok for him in the end.  I will say this though, i know a lot of cops and none of them are out to screw with the decent folk, some end up doing it due to a lack of proper training and guidance.  It doesn't make it right, but it doesn't mean they should necessarily loose their shirts over it either.  Sometimes all that is needed is a little bit of education, which it appears the city took more serious after this incident.  It's still a win overall for the people who live there.
  5. How was my statement not true.  Both Hamilton and Madison wrote extensively about there fears of adding a bill of rights and that it could potentially be utilized by the government for usurping powers not intended for the federal government.  They also argued that by making it the law it gave the federal government the pretense to do so.  This is one of the reasons of why the amendments are phrased the way they are, it is to attempt to mitigate that risk.     Yes they are more difficult to remove and can not be removed as easily, however with enough popular support a amendment to the constitution can be removed.  It has happened before.   They are even easier to circumvent with enough political pull and popular support.  For evidence of this one needs to look no further than the over use of the commerce clause and it's use to circumvent the 2nd amendment.
  6.   There are some interesting discussions in the world of U.S. history about this exact thing.  Several of the framers of the constitution did not want a bill of rights for a different reasons.  One of the more interesting reason is that some of our founders felt anything put into the bill of rights is now granted by the government and therefore could be taken away by the same government.    From a legal standpoint dolomite's argument rings true, by passing the amendments they became codified as US law and laws can be rewritten or abolished by the government and the people it serves.
  7. I have a bottle of devils cut in the fridge right now, its pretty good strait, but i really like it mixed with cream soda.
  8. All the DD number does is tell them the location, date, and time that the card was issued.  It's a forgery prevention device
  9. Well now i'm a little disappointed.  I was at FT Leonard Wood Missouri for a couple weeks during August trying to figure out stuff to do on the weekends, had no clue about this being there.  I'm gonna have to make sure i remember this next time i make the trip.
  10. Makes perfect sense, I think you definitely nailed the cool factor.  Ive slept under many o green wool blankets there warm to say the least.   You may alrady know but if it gets stiff and itchy on you soak it overnight in cold water mixed with hair conditioner, it'll soften up again and the  itchynesswill be gone.
  11. Any reason you went this route as opposed to say a military 3 piece sleep system.  At the end of the day all that really matters is that this works for you, and it certainly has a nostalgia factor, but man 22 pounds is a hefty piece of kit.
  12. I know this is semantics, but why is this considered the largest caliber rifle in the world.  Traditionally a rifle is defined as a shoulder fired firearm with a rifled barrel.  If that definition is used the M70 and the Mikor MGL could both very well be considered to be rifles, though they fire explosive projectiles. They both have 40mm bores so whouldn't they be considered a larger caliber rifle than this.   Also back in the day didn't they make 2 & 4 bore rifles for big game hunting in Africa
  13. Welcome to the forum.    Don't take this the wrong way but why in the world did you represent yourself at the hearing.  I would think that with the experience you described in your post that you would know better than to ever represent yoursel   Besides the appeals process, i would say your only other option would be the LEOSA route.  Your agency may or may not provide means to go that route, most do.  Even if they do not their is a process for Tennessee residents that retired out of state to submit a packet to receive a retired ID for LEOSA purposes.  I am not sure of the complete details, but i know that guns and leather offers the Tennessee LEOSA firearms qualification course as one of their courses.  They are a sponser here and may be able to point you in the right direction if you choose to go that route.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbud8rLejLM   thought this was appropriate.  Warning may not be work safe.
  15. seems a bit far I'll have to take your word for it.  Assuming it's true, which i have no reason to doubt, do you know anyone who hunts pigeon with 3.5'' goose loads.
  16. There isn't a specific legal precedent set.  Though generally courts have upheld that below 500ft is the property owners since anything above is navigable space controlled by the FAA.  Obviously the drone was well below the commonly accepted threshold, or that guy is wicked good with a shotty.
  17.   You weren't wrong,  from what i have heard the truck pulls double duty.  Primarily doing the enforcement but also pulling a incident command center.
  18. Trailer free semi's can get 6-10 MPG, lets call it 8 for the average.  at 70 MPH they will burn a little under 9 gallons of fuel at a cost of 3.45 a gallon (rough number) that costs the department 31 dollars an hour to operate.  Each ticket is 50 dollars plus the court costs.  Even if they average 1 ticket an hour it still comes out profitable.  According to the article they made several stops in a matter of minutes.  Seems affordable to me.
  19. I would have a problem with it if they were actually wrong, the problem is they are not.  From a sociological perspective white males have a distinct  advantage in our society.  There is tons of empirical evidence supporting that conclusion.
  20. So far mine has been fed a varied diet with no issues.  90 grain frangible, 100grain frangible, 115 FMJ and JHP, 124 FMJ and JHP, 147grn FML, 135grn Hornady Critical Duty.    So far around 1500 total through it with about 75% being my loads and 25% being factory loads.  Ive had about 40 malfunctions, which seems like a lot, but all of those were caused by low charge rounds developing loads.    I've never had any form of malfunction from the gun with anything factory.
  21. From my understanding they got the truck from a seizure and it was painted by inmates.  They expect ticket revenues to more than cover the fuel for it, and it may actually make the roads a little safer without hindering non offenders with the burden of the cost.  I'm all for it.

  23. I'd put a serial number on it just incase it was ever stolen, you would at least have some hope of recovery though still small.
