Tactical Response AR-15 / M-16 Armorer Course
c.a.willard replied to DHF's topic in Training Discussions
I don't think i could bring myself to pay 450 for that kind of course, unless there was a job i wanted that required it. If you are just going for the knowledge gained there may be some more cost effective alternatives. -

Goverment Shutdown blame game

The senate also submitted a budget that the house refused to vote on, or does it only count one way. -
Goverment Shutdown blame game
c.a.willard replied to bersaguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Or, since key republican leaders were just as much to blame for the shutdown if not more so; we throw the whole lot of them out and start fresh. -

c.a.willard replied to Ron Padilla's topic in Events and Gatherings
It's usually not that great of a show, that being said it is less than a mile from my house so I'll be going to see if i can sell one of my rifles. -

Not to hijack, but can someone please clarify why he must engrave it himself when the form 1 clearly states name of original manufacturer in block 4a and then in the instructions 2i it states again that the original manufacturers information goes in 4a. If an existing firearm is being modified into an NFA firearm, enter the existing serial number of the firearm into item 4g and the name and address of the original manufacturer into item 4a. Do not Alter or Modify the Existing Serial Number . If the NFA firearm is being made from parts, your name and address are to be entered into 4a and a serial number you create is to be entered into item 4g It would seem that since he is modifying an existing firearm there would be no additional engraving requirement.

I think its an indicator of which zeds were killed by the disease. If one recalls the walker they focused on a couple of times at the wall, it had similar eyes. It also looked way to fresh when compared with the others. Maybe this season we get faster more aggressive zeds

Old man's post prompted me to read the TCA again as it has been a while If you will note the third item in red, premises, which includes the land and any building on your property 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. (a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was: (1) Of an unloaded rifle, shotgun or handgun not concealed on or about the person and the ammunition for the weapon was not in the immediate vicinity of the person or weapon; (2) By a person authorized to possess or carry a firearm pursuant to § 39-17-1315 or § 39-17-1351; (3) At the person's: (A) Place of residence; (B) Place of business; or (C) Premises; (4) Incident to lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, sport shooting or other lawful activity; (5) By a person possessing a rifle or shotgun while engaged in the lawful protection of livestock from predatory animals; (6) By a Tennessee valley authority officer who holds a valid commission from the commissioner of safety pursuant to this part while the officer is in the performance of the officer's official duties; (7) By a state, county or municipal judge or any federal judge or any federal or county magistrate; (8) By a person possessing a club or baton who holds a valid state security guard/officer registration card as a private security guard/officer, issued by the commissioner, and who also has certification that the officer has had training in the use of club or baton that is valid and issued by a person certified to give training in the use of clubs or batons; (9) By any person possessing a club or baton who holds a certificate that the person has had training in the use of a club or baton for self-defense that is valid and issued by a certified person authorized to give training in the use of clubs or batons, and is not prohibited from purchasing a firearm under any local, state or federal laws; or (10) By any out-of-state, full-time, commissioned law enforcement officer who holds a valid commission card from the appropriate out-of-state law enforcement agency and a photo identification; provided, that if no valid commission card and photo identification are retained, then it shall be unlawful for that officer to carry firearms in this state and the provisions of this section shall not apply. The defense provided by this subdivision (a)(10) shall only be applicable if the state where the out-of-state officer is employed has entered into a reciprocity agreement with this state that allows a full-time, commissioned law enforcement officer in Tennessee to lawfully carry or possess a weapon in the other state.

If he doesn't come off of it, at least convince him to call trijicon and see when his was made. The tritium insert may still be under warranty, i believe they are supposed to have around a 15 year life. -
How has or will the government shutdown affected you
c.a.willard replied to c.a.willard's topic in General Chat
I normally subscribe to the same philosophy, When i seperated from the active component we had about a 5 month cushion. That we used until i could start school at the end of August. Once school started we were good to go financially and was just finally starting to put money back in savings. -
What kind of mag is that?

looks like a crack to me as well.

I was just wondering for those that feel like sharing, here is how i have been/will be affected. I got a call today that I already saw coming. My weekend drill for this month has officially been cancelled due to the shutdown. Normally not a giant deal, although the money is budgeted for my healthcare it is only a couple hundred dollars and under normal circumstances could skip a few creature comforts and be fine. However added to this is that i am a full time college student going to school on the post 911 GI Bill. It pays out a monthly BAH stipend that may or may not end come late October. That stipend is budgeted to the mortgage and the electric bill. It's looking like come the end of the month I may not have the funds to pay the bills, and will likely have to resort to selling off one of the collection. The PS90 will probably be the first to go.

NFA processing has been suspended
c.a.willard replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Unfortunately the 200 dollar tax goes straight into the general fund and then the budget for the NFA branch is allocated to them. In reality the NFA branch should be ran on funds from the tax, response times would be much faster. Instead there are only around 10 examiners doing every ones paperwork. Interesting fyi for folks who didn't already know, when DOJ suggested fingerprinting for trusts the document also included cost analysis for the NFA branch and how long it takes examiners to finish a stamp once they start working on it. I believe it was around 15 minutes of work per application for the examiners. There was also an article recently that said the NFA branch brings in approximately a million dollars a month in revenue and has been doing so since 2011. There really needs to be a law tying the number of employees at the NFA branch to the revenue it generates. -
Cheaper option for you is to swap the stock trigger springs for reduced power springs. JP makes a good set. Polish the contact areas of the trigger and get one of Dolomite's trigger kit set screws. It will not be a true target trigger, but it should get you fairly close and only be around 30 dollars out of pocket.

From my understanding is the Amber alert service was not shut down just the DOJ Amber Alert information website. Amber Alerts are primarily a locally ran conducted in partnership with the center for missing and exploited children (whose site never went down as another poster mentioned). The DOJ site is apparently back up and running now, but it was taken down due to a furlough of IT personnel. Leaving it open with no IT personnel monitoring it would have left the DOJ open for cyber attacks.

ACU: Pants: Fly Buttoned, Cargo pockets Velcro or button depending on manufacturer Top: Zipper in the front, pockets are all velcro BDU's: All button's. I would recommend the BDU's for your purpose. The Velcro on the ACU's wears out quickly and opening them makes a lot of noise. If you ever make it up to the Clarksville area there are tons of surplus stores that have plenty of serviceable BDU's for decent prices.

Where are you guys going shooting at next weekend. I was going to get some range time next weekend anyways so if you would like i can bring a shield to you guy's for her to try.
