  1. I would like to make a motion that TGO sponsor Hexhead to set the agenda, control when bills are brought up and voted on and just the overall schedule of the Tennessee General Assembly next year. Any objections? ...sorry Hex....just had to.
  2. As with most bills...it has long since been amended since introuduced. Again as with a few the amendment(s) completely re-write the bill. It basically removed places that serve alcohol from the list of off-limits places for LEO carry.
  3. So you don't think those that represent speical interest groups with large amounts of monies available to them to lobby elected officials should have to be registered so we can know who they are?
  4. Ok...we had a poweroutage here... What happened to HB0898? Since that bill would allow off-duty LEOs to carry where alcohol is served......I was thinking that if it passed, that would be when Todd might bring it up?
  5. Well....McDaniel moved that they suspend the rules... So they are now not acting under the rules of the house. I'm not sure, but I think that may be the first step so Curry can bring up a motion to override the veto.
  6. You also can't allow smoking even if you wanted to.... So there is no doubt the state can impose thing upon private property ownwers whose property is open to the public if they choose to.
  7. It does seem that if you can get one of the rarely issued permits in some of the may issue states, there are a lot fewer places off limits than in many other states.
  8. You don't, if it is just you calling or visiting you elected officials. It is when you are compensated and or represent a group that you may have to register depending of several factors.
  9. Well...that is interesting... But also can't help to think that the digging into this and publishing it comes from the TFA's efforts to find out who the LEOs where at the veto and the overall anti- mentality of the media. But....just another reason to have all your water foul in a linear posistion. (Ducks in a row)
  10. The consent calendar is usually voted on as a whole. Everyone has already "consented" to voting aye for those bills, that is why they are on that calendar.
  11. Already posted....this thread closed
  12. Well technically that is correct. You can't use deadly force anywhere unless you are in imminent fear of death or serisous bodily harm. The difference about being in your home is, the law presumes you are in that fear. So you do not have to later prove you were like you may on the street. The DA would have to try and prove you weren't. This part was actually pretty good... But the last part is definetly misleading......sad....
  13. As the discussion in this thread has pretty much become an extension of http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/21893-governor-phil-bredesen-vetoes-hb0962-restaurant-carry-bill.html this one will be closed.
  14. TGO David: Great letter in post 13 Great post in post 21 Hexhead: Great reply and clarification in post 25
  15. The first proposed rule change was to allow to allow carry in National parks in states that allowed carry in their state parks. BUT!!!!! that is not the final rule change that went in to effect. The final rule change that went into effect said if you could legally carry in that state, you could carry in a National Park in that state unless otherwise prohibited by law. This is also what recently passed (federal) law said. The Federal goverment has somewhat done like the state goverment did. It is legal by default to carry in National Parks, but states can pass laws against it.
  16. Parks bill & Long gun bill both sent to the Governor on 6/1/09.
  17. Probably didn't pharse it as well as I could have.... Sort of meant I didn't know if the buses were posted....although I have never heard of any vehicle or mode of transportation being posted, but in some places...who knows???
  18. AFAIK my guy Rep Halford is still out sick and won't/can't vote either way.
  19. Right now all public (city, county and state) parks are off limits. This bill would allow carry in state and local parks, but would give local governments the opportunity to ban carry in their parks. Sort of like they can ban carry in city/county buildings by posting a sign if they like. There is no state law against carry on public transportation. I'm not sure of any local regulations in Chattanooga...maybe someone closer will chime in shortly.
  20. Before my family got a little more spread out, used to have a big ol' time both my brother, their wives and kids and me and my kids, grilling, chilling a little adult beverage. On fireworks each group usualy had a pretty good stash to start with, but seems we always ran to town and got some more. Not really sure how things will work out this year....but at least it is on my weekend off....
  21. See the last few pages of post in this thread.. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/21893-governor-phil-bredesen-vetoes-hb0962-restaurant-carry-bill.html
