  1. Yep...almost worth a butt whippin...lol Really looking like the 10 day window could extend past June 1st though.
  2. That looks like the wording of Senate Amendment 2... If so you can look at the history page of the bill and see that Senate Amendment 2 was withdrawn (as was Amendment 1). It was Senate Amendment 3 that was passed as stated in a previous post.
  3. Passed with this amendment. Basically says there can not be a round in the chamber of the rifle or shotgun unless you chambered a round to use the weapon in self-defense.
  4. Just the benefit of not having to give a thumbprint when purchasing a firearm.
  5. As far as while in the car, asked to get of the car or getting out on your own making a differenc on public intoxication....are y'all getting this from some court case? When I used to ride with Sheriff's Dept back home and a driver was arrested for DUT to be honest it was pretty much standard practice to arrest everyone else in the vehicle for PI if they had even the slightest hint that they had been drinking. (Not say that it was right, IMO it wasn't, but that is just the way it was done.) This may have been mainly because though, that since the driver was being arrested and no one else in the vehicle was sober enough to drive, the vehicle was going to be towed...and therefor then these passegers are now on the side of the road. Now the agency my brother works for...if the passenger can have someone come get them within the amount of time the stop will take, they will usually let them go with the other person. FYI...
  6. Unless everyone in the car is still drinking or using drugs...how do you know there adults or any adults for that matter, contributed to delinquency of the minor/driver. I would think the act of providing the alcohol or drugs or the providing of a vehicle would the be the contributing, not simply riding along. Just because they were in the car with him, doesn't mean they were the ones to provide him with any of the stuff.
  7. Welcome
  8. There is an exception for gun shows. 39-17-1311((1)(G)(iii)
  9. It was signed by the Governor of 5/13/09 HB0070/SB0474 Just remember it only allows for the use of deadly force in protecting property as long as you are otherwise authorized (self-defense) in using deadly force. You can not use deadly force just to protect property like in the great state of TX.
  10. In general a bill becomes law on the date stated within the bill, regardless of when it is signed by the Governor. You are correct about this bill, the date is June 1. To answer the other part of your question...I'm not sure. I have wondered what would happen if June 1 was within in the 10 days he has to sign it or let it become law and it has not been signed yet. Looks like he would need to get it tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest to keep that from happening.
  11. The bill's status page does not show it sent to the governor yet. It has been enrolled and is ready for the House Speaker's signature then the Leader of the Senate's signature, then it will be sent to the Governor and the 10 days start.
  12. Still find it hard to believe they found 1000 people to ever sign up for those in the first place....
  13. No problem....
  14. As of today it is illegal to carry in any local, state or federal park in TN. The law 39-17-1311 doesn't seem to make a distinction anywhere in it as to if part or all of the park is closed off for a private function. Had it not been in a park though I think you would have been legal (as long as you weren't cosuming) for two reasons. It was outside and was a private function. As of today the law is... You were not within the confines of a building and it was not open to the public.
  15. I just barely remember that tape, don't really remember what was in it...but at least it was brand new at the time I watched it...lol
  16. Ok...but I'm still curious as to what is required by the state?
  17. How much about carry and self-defense laws does the DOS require be in the safety class? Now I got mine just shortly after the law went into effect so I know some things may have changed, but I don't really remember us covering anything about the laws. I mean they call is a "safety class" So I thought the whole purpose of it was to learn how to safely handle a handgun. The state figuring that some wanting/getting their HCP may have never touched a handgun before. Now I know there are many good instructors that cover some of the legal aspects and the law (although some incorrectly ) but is it part of the curriculum the state sends/requires?
  18. I think you are right. OMG....did I just say Mike was right?!
  19. I tend to agree....I doubt very many, if any, chain restaurants will post. Of course there could always be the guy who owns his own place and is so anti that he will post and not care what effect it has. But I imagine those places are far and few between.
  20. You'll know they are a pro business if they have one of these signs...
  21. There is no TN law against carry at a "public gathering" like in other states. May want to see this post.
