  1. As you said the language seems conflicting for sure confusing. IMO, I think they can, but others think not and others are not sure and I can't argue against either of them. There is a bill in the legislature (HB1806/SB1622) to clarify this, however due to Rep West health it has been deferred to next year.
  2. Well carry in National Forrest is up to each state the way I understand it, I always here that TN has a law against carry in National Forrest, but I've not seen anything that specifically says that.
  3. Yeah...not sure why the links aren't working.. Can start here THOMAS (Library of Congress) then > Bills, Resolutions (left column) > Search Bill Text > Browse by Bill Number > (Under House Bills) 601-700 > Scroll down to 619 and click H.R.632.ENR > (Sec 403 for Effective Date) or (Sec 512 for the part about National Parks and Wildlife Refuges) But guess 15 months is the countdown on this one.... True enough..
  4. WOW......a little wind was just taken out of my sail..... If I am reading this right, Sec 403 says it is not effective untill 15 months after the date it is enacted. This will give states that wish to pass laws to prohibit or restrict carry in National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges, plenty of time to do so before it goes in to effect.
  5. I don't think that means buildings, but that whether it is a park or natural area or historic trail or etc... it applies to them as long as the place falls under the National Park System.
  6. I concur Also...any state could still pass a law against carry in a National Park or Wildlife Refuge or place certain restrictions it appears. This seems to only prohibit the Secretary of the Interior from doing any such thing...not state legislatures.
  7. Yes. IMO the part that says "the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State" means whatever is legal on "main street" is legal in the National Park and Wildlife Refuge. Unless there is a state law that has something about National Parks and Wildlife refuges to the contrary. Yes...in TN. But in some states you can carry without a permit, VT and AK...so in those I don't think you would need any permit. Also in many states you can OC without a permit...so it looks like you could OC in the National Park in those states without a permit. Also some states allow loaded long guns.....so again looks like in those states a loaded long gun would be ok in so far as whatever is allowed by state law.
  8. Here is what I found. So based on ( it seem it applies to all firearms (long guns and handguns) and to National Parks and Wildlife Refuges. So if/when TN passes allowing loaded long guns in vehicles by those with a HCP you could even traverse a National Park or Wildlife Refuge in TN with a loaded long gun.
  9. True bkelm18, but I'm still happy. So does this become effective immediately when he signs it?
  10. The 10 days are relevant to the extent he can wait till day 9 and veto it. So we can not know for sure if it will become law until he either signs it or the 10 days have passed.
  11. The state's website just says 10 days (except Sundays), doesn't mention holidays.
  12. Well I have bought new guns from a FFL and filed out form 4473, but I have not but a "registered" firearm either as TN does not have firearm registration.
  13. I think he may have meant the 30th is the last day he has to either sign it or veto it, otherwise it will become law, effective June 1.
  14. 39-17-1351(t) says an officer can disarm you if he "reasonably believes it is necessary for the protection of the permit holder, officer or other individual or individuals". Nothing in it prevents him from doing a stolen check on the firearm once he has taken it from you.
  15. Welcome
  16. Welcome
  17. Welcome
  18. First let me say I don't like the badges...but not for the same reason as most. But yes, carrying concealed and wearing a CCW badge, does not make much sense. But TN has handgun carry permit and some legally open carry and their badge usually says "Handgun Carry Permit"
  19. LOL...funny bunch. Sure I'll come to any court hearings...lol Because I do have a lot of times on my hands.....so much better than having a life....lol Good point Correct Me too!! Since I will probably consume at a restaraunt this one really helps me even more, like when I'm out on the bike. The seneate put local parks back together with state parks and passed it. Even made it legal by default in local parks, they would have to vote to opt out. Also they would have to opt out the whole park, not just parts of it. From what I can tell all signs would stay the same. The reason this is, is because removing or changing signs would cost money. Many of the legislators might not have voted for it with the fiscal note that would have created.
  20. The way I read Senate amendment 3 (which makes the bill) is that loaded mag can be in the AR as long as there is not a round in the chamber, just like the shotgun.
  21. Hard to believe it has been a year. I met her and Eddie one time......great people....
