Arizona to allow carry with no training.
Fallguy replied to walton6467's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If you get an AZ permit then you have gone through the course, so I don't see any reason why any state that honors an AZ permit now won't continue to honor it. An AZ resident (as can anyone) without a permit can still OC in several states that allow OC without a permit and CC as well in AK and VT. As already mentioned AK issues permits even though it is not required for carry their...AK permits are honored in the same states that TN permits are honored. So I think this is great for several reasons. Again as already said, if they want to travel and carry out of state, they can simply get a permit still. -
Sorry, no clue. Hopefully TGO David will weigh in soon.

TNCode09 Tennessee Code for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store It is download and once on the phone doesn't require an internet connection to use. I really like the overall idea, but the screen shots seem to show an example of a very old code. Not sure if the app is updated and he just hasn't updated the screen shots or what. Also you can call me ignorant, but I'm still new to the iPhone, iTunes, apps etc... and I really don't see a way to contact him to ask. Also there are comments asking for it to be updated, but I know it wasn't until Sept or Oct last year before Michie updated their online version, so I could see how it might take that long for the app as well....so then that begs the question would you have to buy the 2010 version or would it be a free update to the 2009 one? Anyway...what are y'alls thoughts?

Really hate to hear about this.....will try to always keep mine close... As far as AT&T goes....I have been with them for nearly 10 years, back when it was Bellsouth Mobility around here and except for one incident, have always had great customer service. Back before unlimited texting plans my daughter ran up $400 worth of texting on top of the rest of the bill. I called them up and basically said I just don't have it...they wiped $200 of it off and allowed me to pay the rest over two bills.

AFAIK ever since the carry law was first put into place signs (properly posted) carried the weight of law. In fact when 39-17-1359 was first on the books, the notice didn't have to be posted, just announced. I don't really know but I guess this was to appease those that simply didn't want to allow firearms in their places and to create a great deterrent for us to abide by that. As far as the "Gun Busters" sign be legal, it wasn't until the recent restaurant carry law passed. This law also amended 39-17-1359 in an attempt to better define what a "legal posting" was. Originally the bill had exact wording that was to be used, however this would have made the posting on several government buildings invalid and would have meant a cost to change/replace those signs (including some that were permanent or would have been very hard/expensive to change). Bills with a fiscal note (especially firearms bills) can be hard to pass. So it is my understanding that the "International Circle and Slash" symbol was a comprise so that a property could be legally posted regardless of the wording of any sign.

I always check Handgunlaw.us when traveling out of state. Here is the FL page http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/florida.pdf which says restaurant carry is legal, but in the off-limits places it does have.. any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose; So as others have said, restaurant OK, bar area or bars in general Not OK

I don't think you will find any law specifically about pepper spray or its use. I think it is going to go back to the self-defense law 39-11-611, specifically part ((1) that says... So the questions on the use of force (pepper spray in this case) will be.... Was it the minimal degree needed to stop the attacker or at least not greatly more than needed? Did you reasonably believe it was needed? Was the attacker using or attempting to use unlawful force against you? Just my opinion anyways....

Have done it myself

That is what the post above yours said......
-
But if you did that in front of him......it could be taken in a threatening manner......

To answer the questions about showing you gut to prevent an assault, I think the simple answer is No. In TN it seems you can't really do that unless you would be justified in using it. If you were to show him your gun, you could be charged with assualt if that action put him in fear of being harmed. AFAIK AZ is the only state with a law that allows the display of a firearm to try and difuse a situation.

I think that was his point......

Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
Fallguy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
To add... Most of the time what is most effective and what is easiest to teach to the masses aren't the same thing. As any who may be CPR instructors may know...most of the changes made to how to preform CPR for the lay person have been made to make it easier to teach and/or easier for the person to remember/preform, not to make it more effective. So I wonder how much (at least in some situations) that was is defined as COM by is some is just to make it easier for the person to hit the target and not necessairly the most effective kill shot. -
Center of Mass (Human Body) Definiton?
Fallguy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Guess I've always taken COM to mean any where below the neck and above the belt, while primarily meaning/aiming for around the sternum. I also thought it was a term used more just to mean don't aim for the limbs or head, since those would be smaller targets. You sometimes hear why didn't he just shoot him in the leg or arm. (To make him stop coming toward you or drop the weapon) ...and I assume head shots were/are discouraged because in the rush of the situation it would be a hard target to hit. But my experience/education is no where near those that have heavily debated this already....but I just wanted to be included... -
Not that I remember. I believe discussion about carry anywhere in public without a permit would have stood out and been widely discussed on here..... Also just something for all to remember, while you can use deadly force against an animal in self-defense.....the burden of proof might even be higher than against a human considering the shooting of animals is one reasons Park Rangers were so against the bill.
-
But would a posting actually make a differences?.....
-
The news media doesn't know anything about lawful carry in TN. Since most other states issue Concealed Carry permits (because OC is legal without a permit) they think that TN must issue conceal carry permits and only talk about concealed carry. There is no legal requirment to conceal in TN, including state parks.

could the guy in the background of this picture use deadly force?
Fallguy replied to Ghooge2008's topic in General Chat
My only point was that LE has encountered guys with guns in their hands (drawn) and those committing armed robbery and they didn't always just shoot right away. Do I think you could shoot DV in this case and be justified? Sure...... Do I think you could shoot him and some renegade DA charge you? Yes as well. -
could the guy in the background of this picture use deadly force?
Fallguy replied to Ghooge2008's topic in General Chat
A drawn gun and committing armed robbery are not justifiable grounds to use deadly force in-and-of-themselves. There could be other things going at the time that would be, but...maybe not as well. However in this case, I think the argument could be made either way. I think a lot of it would depend on where you are and the political climate at the time. -
agent charge in shooting in US Virgin Islands
Fallguy replied to wipfel's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have to agree...a non-goverment agent can't shoot someone because they don't want to wrestle or take an a$$ whoopen either. No matter who you are, you have to have a resonable fear of imminent death or serioud bodily harm. If you have that fear, just because you may have additional trainging doesn't automaticlly make your shoot unjustified. Of course I have no idea of the political climate on weapons etc... in the Virgin Islands, but it is probably not much better than NY or CA and that probably has a lot to do with it as well.
