  1. People are strange, every year we get some form of frozen precipitation that sends people into a blind panic buying milk and bread...or beer and cigarettes as the case may be. That same group of people also hit up the nearest...or cheapest gas stations as well. Most of you don't remember the oil embargos of the 1970's and its level of panic.
  2. Of course it's liberal initiated and spin doctored to generate attention and shock unknowledgeable viewers into believing the individual in the story is a representative sample of gun owners in America. TGO David's already addressed my own observations in viewing the story. As others here have said in the past sometimes gun owners are our own worst enemies.
  3. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/in-jim-cooley’s-open-carry-america-even-a-trip-to-walmart-can-require-an-ar-15/ar-BBwhlj0?li=BBnbcA1 I'll just shake my head and leave this for an example of MSM picking news stories....and whatever else you want to think...
  4. You been listening to the I guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20500 again or something?
  5. Unfortunately you won't find a lot of 13 year olds with a lot of common sense. Contemporary Darwinism generally doesn't afford a second chance.
  6. Stinkweed and sawdust....the stuff of hippie dreams...but then with the right illicit drug mix is probably ambrosia for the right crowd...
  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_United_States_bombing_of_Libya While this attack didn't take place on US soil the perpetrators targeted US Military personnel, to which the US responded. Most of us know that after this Khadafy was making a point to leave this country alone. Up until the current POTUS and SOS H. Clinton we just kept an eye on him. The rest is history.
  8. https://michaeltabman.wordpress.com/2013/04/18/international-vs-domestic-terrorism-a-primer/ There's a difference between domestic terrorism and international terrorism so when discussing use of military assets keep that in mind.

  12. You didn't blame it on FB, I didn't either, it's the users responsibility to have the good sense not to post imprudent information in the belief its safe to do so. FB is only a conduit in that it provides a social media billboard.
  13. Dang! That thing looks like a wrist flask watch combo...LOL...
  14. FB has led to a lot of termination of employments , broken families, criminal charges and crimes of opportunity against the careless. This stuff can't really be blamed on FB as its the users who post imprudently to it. Given all of this people still freely divulge the most private of information. As I've already alluded running a billboard for attention will generally draw the wrong kind of attention. And once again, people continue to be people even after being warned. Bottom line...don't be that guy...or girl as the case may be.
  15. The less you telegraph about yourselves and family on your vehicles the better because it becomes a mobile FB for those who would wish to profit by such indiscretion. I regularly see vehicles that tell me how many people are in a family, where the children go to school, where people work and worse. If I were a terrorist or criminal it would be easy to pick likely victims. But then people are going to be people and not be bothered by thoughts of badness happening to them and there's'.
  16. When you get the change go by either the Co-Op on WRB or Hardware City on RSD they're Case dealers and have some other items as well. You have to look pretty hard at Buck and others because a lot of Chinese stuff is in their product line, same for Gerber, most of the Case line I've seen lately is still Made in USA. It's bad enough I mostly look at European Cutlery now. If you want cast iron products for pouring ingots go to one of the Goodwill stores or some yard sales, it doesn't matter who made it if that's what your using it for.
  17. Well that particular cutlery store mostly sells China stuff so I'm not surprised to read about what you encountered. As for Lodge products, the last time I was in Rural King and TSC they had pretty good selections o choose from, otherwise go with Amazon or order directly from Lodge. Nice rifle you brought home there.
  18. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_World_Trade_Center_bombing The planners of the 9/11 attack were persistent and persevered so when you see 9/11 media coverage remember their was a previous attack which faded from the public eye in a short period of time. And yes, mikegideon is correct, the Twin Towers were selected for their symbolism. It was an attack intended to shock not only the United Sates but to shock the world, I'll not forget the jubilant dancing in the streets by celebrants of a different religion.
  19. Your opinions are pure and simply that. Both of you have a tendency to have outspoken opinions you expound on, I frequently disagree but also frequently make a point not to play along with your games. Sorry btq96r I don't have any safe spaces, I spent 30 years being spit on, assaulted, threatened and viewing the worst in people. So I'm a bit jaded, but I made a point not to bait people or turn my back on people inciting arguments. I have all kinds of negative opinions on subsequent actions of 9/11 and argued same in training. But I also don't feel the need to post memes or public criticism in a Memorial thread.
  20. 9/11 was a tragic day for our country with thousands of lives lost and many more lives forever affected, it also led to a fifteen year war against terror which shows no immediate ending. As someone else has already mentioned there are many other days for expressing your animosity for our country but 9/11 should not be one of them. It speaks poorly of those here who used this as a soapbox to show their antagonism and contempt for other viewers feelings under the guise of free speech. If you've got something negative to say then just say you disagree and keep on moving. Several of you have amazed me in that your still here.
  21. JCT 1911... Yep, dark beers and IPA are the least temp sensitive and have a richer flavor so I prefer them myself. But I have a lot of admiration for the more advanced, or methodical, home brewer who can craft a fine pilsner beer. My limited experience with home wine making was less then favorable but I've seen people with the most basic of equipment grow their own grapes, raspberries and elderberries and turn out exceptional tasting wine...
  22. I always thought beer was easier to start with but harder to refine into a superior end product. You don't need a basement, the floor of one of the cooler closets (generally a hallway closet) will work jus fine. The one gallon wine or apple juice style glass carboys make an excellent beer. You can also buy kits to do a home brewed root beer that your kids will love.
  23. Home brewing is a fun hobby that is something everyone can participate in while learning new skillsets. In a lot of ways there's enough chemistry involved to be helpful for school age children. The Mr. Brew Kits are just fine to start out with and will help you decide how serious you want to get. Any dark non twist off lid beer bottle can be reused and you can by empty beer bottles. I use glass carboys to brew in gallon lots but am looking at 3 gallon carboys. You'll find your local public library has every possible home brewing book possible so spend a little time reading what you can.
  24. I'd say that those involved in the video have now had a dose of reality dumped on them and aren't likely to do something as insensitive and disrespectful pertaining to 9/11. I'll also say that as crass as the add was it doesn't merit the level of continued outrage that appears evident. Best advice is to recognize the naivety of those involved and keep on moving, I suspect the store involved will end up going out of business now.
  25. I bought one when they were first imported and immediately persuaded one of my BIL's to also purchase one for himself. Were it not a MISURP rifle I'd have long since turned mine into a scout rifle. The FR-8 is based on a 98 type action and he FR-7 the 96 with the FR-8 being the stronger of the two. The tube under the barrel contains the rifles cleaning kit and while I don't have one the FR-8 bayonet was kind of distinctive. Good review and pictures.
