  1. We are all now relieved that our elected represenatives have over ridden the veto of our carpet bagger (NJ) gov and let stand legislation that would allow HCP holders to carry in establishments that serve alcohol. Let me give you some perspective of a former restaurant owner. If your favorite establishment posts a non-compliant sign forbidding carry in their premises, let it ride. The owner is pandering(trying to keep his paycheck) to that portion of his customer base that we call 'sheeple'. He is getting flack from them and has to do something. He knows that a non compliant sign will make the sheeple feel warm and fuzzy and won't prevent any of his HCP customers from breaking the law or enjoying the premises. There is a restaurant chain that posts a small international symbol that could be interpeted to mean no firearms allowed. We have all seen the red circle with a diagonal slash superimposed on a revolver. The sign has no legal standing in any state, and could not be used as the basis for any prosecutions. The restaurant chain makes the sheeple/soccermoms/hystericalhandwringers feel good and does nothing that prevents a legal carrier from entering. If an establishment posts a compliant no carry sign, go after them full bore. Do not let them rest on their warm and fuzzies for a minute. Get your ten best friends to call them ten time a day each and complain. If a restaurant loses ten percent of its gross, the owner's paycheck does not do down a corresponding ten percent, it disappears completely. If someone cites the potential for increased insurance premiums, remind them that posting a compliant sign forbidding legal carry makes THEM liable for a customer's saftey. Talk about raising premiums, they would go out the roof if just one person got injured because they could not defend themselves because of an establishment's no carry policy and posting of a compliant sign. But again, if an establishment posts a non-compliant sign, do not take it personally, they are just trying to keep their livelyhood alive. Smile and let it ride. We won, not the soccer moms, not the sky-is-falling-crowd, not the control freaks, WE WON!!!
  2. M-14 with rifle grenade weighing more than 14,000 grains.
  3. I had a springfield loaded that worked sometime, sometime it did not. I sold it and bought an STI Trojan 5.0 in 9mm. It works everytime I pull the trigger, even with marginal reloads. It is more accurate than I can hold it.

    Glock vs Taurus

If you get a good taurus, you have a good gun. Get a bad taurus and you will till, plant and harvest your garden before taurus responds. I agree with someone above, the Glock is not a mercedes or corvette, it is a Honda Accord that will do what it is supposed to do for a long, long time. If you find a GSSF shoot and take your Glock to the factory armorer who attends, he will repair your gun for nothing unless major parts(barrel, etc) are needed. If you have a manual, a punch and a nice shade tree under which to work, you can probably do most of the repairs that a Glock needs. That said, after almost 20 years with my glock 19, there are no repairs needed yet. Every two thousand rounds, I install a new recoil spring and clean it. Unless you get a real smoking deal on a taurus, go Glock!
  5. Agree with you about Eastside. Bill is a standup guy. I hope they turn Gun City around. No body mentioned ASP in Joelton. Decent folks with OK selection prices. One that is definately on my gunshop circuit. Yes, Phil Mitchell at Bellshire is a good guy to deal with.
  6. This site is CNN INTERNATIONAL!! Most of the readers are euro-weenies and other has beens. If I remember correctly, the main CNN webpage has a poll on the same subject last year. Over 70% voted no on more gun controls in the US.
  7. This pathetic piece of liberal dead tree media is shrinking to oblivion, as are lots of other rags across the country. Craigslist has destroyed their advertising base. A free Craigslist as will generate 10 times the traffic of an expensive classified ad in the gannett/liberalrag/algoretennessean. Their editorial content has cost them lost of subscribers. The best justification I can muster for a subscription is the crossword. However, I can download and print better puzzles for a fraction of the cost. Have I just convinced myself to cancel. Hey Mark Silverman(liberal editor in chief), you are flapping in the breeze.
  8. The Reloading Bench has a limited selection of Masen parts. These are israeli MIM if I remember correctly. Other than that you are out of luck in Nashville.
  9. Hardest cast bullets? This guy guarrantees his bullets are hard enough to shoot in a Glock without leading. www.keadbullets.com It may take him a couple of weeks to cast what you need. His prices are decent.
  10. My gold plated Lorcin used to belong to a guitar player. A relative newcomer to Nashville, I have learned that any abberation can be explained away by saying "but he was a guitar player". I guess that covers this situation.
  11. Some of you old folks can remember when you had to have a church key or bottle opener to drink beer or soda. Anybody under 30 know what a church key is?
  12. 9mm brass is plentiful. Reloaders who shoot .38 super police it up no matter how long it takes.
  13. "lately"? Taurus "sales prevention service" has sucked since it was started. The taurus being discussed may be the best pistol ever made until a part or service is needed. Plan on waiting a year.
  14. High Point is junk. You want a decent gun, get a lorcin like mine, gold plating optional.
  15. How many bottle openers on a GI 1911? No shooting allowed.
  16. Don't knock them just because you can't afford one.
  17. teh? where did you learn your yiddish? Call me bubba tshid.
  18. Some folks either don't have enough keep them busy or else chase government contracts. Who knows, the gov might even be funding his prototype?
  19. I can remember selling more that one gun that hurt to shoot. I thought I got into this for 'fun'. Trips to the orthopod get expensive.
  20. Sell the gun 'as is' and move on. I can't imagine that any honest gunsmith would "certify" a gun as being safe, whatever that means. I don't know of a smith that has the equipment that would enable him to make such a wide ranging statement nor one that insurance that would cover such a representation.
  21. I have an 870 that my father won in a duck calling contest in 1955. The original barrel is 28" full choke. I have added a 20 inch barrel with Cutts Compensator. With the Cutts spreader tube, it makes breaking clay pigeons child's play. Between my father and I, we have killed countless ducks, truckloads of deer, countless doves and thousands of clay pigeons. The finish is now 'distressed' and there is little blueing left and some corrosion pitting from salt water and game blood, but not a part has been replaced and it should serve my grandson very well. If someone were in need of a very reliable shotgun, a Remington Express in 12 ga. with a 28 inch barrel with choke tubes and 3" chamber will be all the gun you need. If you bought a used one in the $200 range, it will last you a lifetime.
  22. As soon as my 3 glocks wear out, I intend to try one.
  23. Great for exercising your cat. A cat will chase the 'dot' until they fall over. Easy on you too, you never have to get out of your chair. On a more practical plain, I think they are great for learning trigger control. If it is not to your advantage to use it, don't. Just don't turn it on. As someone observed above, there is no substitute for learning to use your sights.
  24. The custom bug will bite you in time. Do not attempt to fight it, resistance is futile, save lots of money for this addiction. An addiction for which no cure is needed.
  25. Those pictures were developed by one detective with NYPD in an attempt to convince courts that He could tell if someone was carrying a gun and he could teach it to others. I may be wrong, but I think that the courts failed to buy the premise. The whole series can be thrown out if you are wearing a holster and become accustomed to it.
