Heh. Improvement does not mean good, great, awesome, etc. It just means better than something else. Joe is a white old guy, so he loses the young/minority/etc pass on being an idiot. Every other sentence he fumbles and makes a fool of himself. He is incapable of leadership or pushing an agenda, and would be more or less harmless *compared to obama*. Obama can push an agenda and if you are against him, you are racist or backward or whatever. It pulls the teeth of the entire administration if they lose the race cards because that is ALL THEY HAVE in the deck.

MSNBC blames NRA for slowing down Boston investigators

Practical questions in the face of illogic but I will ask it anyway. What effect would said taggant compounds added to gunpowder have on the guns? Is it corrosive or subject to buildup? What about the shooters exposed to it? Does it cause cancer or headaches or lung problems when inhaled? How does it work? Ideally you have a compound for each of hundreds of thousands of gun shops and ammo makers. Ideally each maker stops production to change out the compound as it decides who will buy which lots of powder. This sounds like fail for manufacturing though, who has time to do that, not only the changing of the compounds but the management of it all? I presume government offered to pick up the tab for all expenses incurred in said process? It works in plastic explosives because the public does not buy billions of pounds of it every month. Its not too hard to say that Mohammad Alboom got a stick of c4 from an insider at the army base. Its much harder to say that he bought a box of 9mm at walmart or bubba's guns or dicks or academy or ............................................. and so what if he did? Who cares where he bought it, you get a blurry useless video of some goon that could be *anybody* off the security cam at best. At worst you hassle 300 guys that also bought powder that day. -
Kind of neat. I would say its impractical, but as I have a AR pistol, I can't really do that can I? What I learned with my AR pistol though is that a big heavy pistol that does not go into the shoulder is awkward to use, even downright hard to use. Fun on the range, and one needs little more justification than that to buy something they like, but at the end of the day, a toy.

Ah, I missed they had lowered it so far. Have not kept up, its a lot less than I remembered! I was saying I would make 9s that were about at 380 power for target shooting, not that I would use an actual 380. They keep drifting farther away.... used to be about using stock equipment and has moved more and more into the pay to play arena. Kinda sad.

I have to disagree. Biden would be a major improvement. The only concern with THAT would be his second term, which I would predict has a 75% chance of winning due to the martyr effect.

I thought most forms of Adolph were out of style as a name since about 1940. Sounds like another "you can have a hunting rifle" "pro-gun" type guy.
-
Its all relative. If they had no rules about it, I would probably shoot 9s that were on par with target quality 380.

IDPA does not allow light loads. You have to make a specific momentum with your ammo that is on par with standard pressure factory ammo, if you are under I think you will be disqualified. Light target loads are used in target shooting competition, but not action shooting sports. Also many heavy steel targets are used that light loads may not be able to knock over.

there was a list of what he could do online after sandy hook. It was pretty weak stuff, the most powerful one was something like appoint a BAFTE director.

welcome! Local is relative, soon as you see something in the classifieds that you want and realize how far away bristol really is....

CCRKBA endorsement of Manchin-Toomey?
Jonnin replied to Slasher's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
at a guess 3/10 or more of gun "owners" would betray us in this manner, so its no surprise. You know the ones. See em on tv now and then "its ok to have a hunting rifle and this law won't effect that". -
To propose limitations or regulations on gunpowder. Apparently that was the propellent used in boston......

the bulk of them were doing something idiotic like whacking in public. The 3 closest to me have things like "lewd conduct". People have been marked as sex offenders for being naked in their own homes and a kid sees em thru the window or something. Or for watching porn in public. Etc. Not all sex offenders deserve more than a slap on the wrist. If it involves an actual living victim that interacted with the actual criminal, that is a serious offense. The rest of it --- is overreaction often.

I should have put in a plug for a revolver. The brand and type and all do not matter but with the right grips and frame size/weight/caliber for your tastes, its hard to beat a good one. My favorite is a s&w model 19

I decided the same thing some few years ago. I do still have a couple of safe queens but I have slowly exchanged the bulk of them for shooters (usually at a 2-3 for 1 ratio in my favor) and will likely flip the rest eventually. Certainly my carry guns have always been expected to take some abuse and to be shot a lot.

Bloomberg: "I don't know how we would ever enforce that"
Jonnin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Duh? Criminals obey the law, just like gun free zones, of course. He must have been feeling poorly to say such a dumb thing. Which is why I just do not understand why they don't make it illegal to hurt people, and simplify the entire legal system. -
Dress codes are a terrible waste of time and only useful in a few situations (such as school, where disruptive clothing should not be allowed) or mental institutions (some disturbed folks can get upset at some things) or prisons (no freedom of any kind should be allowed). Out in the world, clothing should not be regulated beyond passing whatever nudity laws are in place (which is another issue entirely)

Recommended practice information for wife's HCP exam.
Jonnin replied to Tobashadow's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
what they said when we were talking about it was 50 shots 70% in the 7 ring or better to pass format was 3 distances, and some sort of 20, 20, 10 for the shot breakdown. Unclear if the 10 were the close or the far shots, probably the far ones (?????). so 35 hits under those conditions. Whether that is the instructor's setup or the state's, I do not know. There could be some discretion on how it is done within some guidelines, like it was before? I can ask, I see 2 of the instructors almost weekly. -
Probably my makarov. Thousands upon thousands of rounds later, its not showing it, just a touch of wear to hint at a long life; no finish on the front of the grip anymore (I keep it touched up with a 'blue' pen). A home-made trigger job makes it special and an extra sweet shooter but even before that it was a favorite. Also I love the design, a handful of simple parts that make it easy to work on and a fixed barrel keeps it accurate. Runner up is my old ruger mark 2, which also has an insane round count and is still as accurate as I am.

All I know is second hand from the instructors who both said people were really struggling with it now (the first time shooters). I agree, from what I could tell (they gave me one of the new targets) its the same "visual" target since it is closer. But talking first timers, perhaps the smaller target is intimidating or some other nervous or psycho issue is coming into play that causes more misses. Also (??? unclear ????) hits may have to be in the torso 7 ring or better, whereas before anywhere on orange was given credit before (???). I dunno, just be aware that people are having more trouble with it than before and if a totally new shooter consider going once on your own to practice ahead of the class, just to be sure. -
I wonder what happened to gold? (rhetorical)
Jonnin replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
these type places are expected to make money for their clients. This is very difficult in a world with the problems that ours has, or even locally with the troubles the USA has right now. All investing is always of some risk, but right now the high risk high reward stuff is just that: high risk -- and the rewards are, while higher than other investments, not all that good for the risk involved. The mess leaves these companies in a bind --- trying to make money when there are no sure bets. So what do you do? Buy gold and hope it goes up instead of down? If the country does well, investing in gold will lose you money in a big way in the not too distant future. If the country continues to go downward, you win. So even gold is not a sure thing. Personally, at the end of this year, if my accounts (not with goldman, but they are all the same) are not doing well I am going to pay off my house instead and give the investment scene a rest. The interest on my house is low and it is still outpacing the returns on investment as of last year.... ugg. -

I was recently told that the targets and distances have changed. Now the target is about 1/2 the size it was, and shooters are having (according to the instructors) a hard time hitting them to pass. Be aware. Be able to hit a sheet of notebook paper at 15 yards. -
Only in new york where guns are bad and nazis are good. A New York state teacher is facing disciplinary action for assigning students to argue Jews were to blame for the problems of Nazi Germany. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22130962

40 is a high pressure round, with not a lot of room to play between max and min loads for many powders, and can be downright scary if you get bullet setback during a load cycle. I was nervous every time I made a batch of it and am glad to be out of this caliber. Its a good caliber, but its not a forgiving one.
