Just remember folks: the SAME "doctors" that did this study are the ones who will "evaluate" you for your "fitness to own a weapon" in the future.

"news" has not changed much in 500 years. That is, I firmly believe a lot of it is still brought to the writers via horseback.

You can find a TON of 50's-80s era S&W revolvers in the $500ish price range in 38 and 357. They made bajillions of them and everyone had one. I have a model 19 that I would not trade for anything... its an amazing pistol. The trouble is that 44 is less common and more expensive. You may find one, but it may be a lot harder.... still, if you can find one, they are high quality guns and will serve you well.

29% Think Armed Revolution Needed
Jonnin replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Sort of. I see it as a circle, not a line, though. The far right is as ugly as the far left, but far less common. If you take it to extremes, the right leads to a strong military government or even a king type figure. It leads to military expansion and might makes right type behaviors. Often it leads to a form of nationalism that is intolerant of everything else, which can lead to racist elements and an ego that "we are superior and deserve the best, and we shall take what we want from the lesser beings". Extremism of anything --- political, religious, cultural, etc --- leads to violence. Once a faction becomes so sure that their path is the one and only way to exist, tolerance is thrown away, and violence is inevitable. Once this state is reached, oddly, the far left and far right merge and the distinctions blur. Ironically, the extreme left today uses violence to combat what they see as injustice and intolerance. They are, at the extreme in the USA, intolerant of intolerance, which is funny to me. By most folks' definitions, you get extreme left: socialism/communism extreme right: police state, king, nazis(?). extreme libertarians: anarchy and all 3 of those (and the others I did not bother to list) become very similar in the long run, using the time tested and proven methods of mass executions, brain washing, political prisons/ camps, heavy handed enforcer arm, dependent peasant populations, military conquest, and so on. -
I doubt its CYA, on the same page she says the spray variety does a better job. If it were CYA, she would have put down the spray as ineffective as well. She clearly states the spray is better than the bombs and that the bombs are not recommended. Could be, of course, you KNOW that a lysol rep is trying to make their products out to be the best etc, but it sounds like an honest answer given the comments about both products. And unsaid of course is .... the bomb's cant hurt, and may help. I would certainly use them if I could find some..!!

29% Think Armed Revolution Needed
Jonnin replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Its a concern. And I doubt we would like the outcome. If it comes to actual armed conflict inside the USA, what I personally see happening is not a bunch of folks like us leading an honorable fight to re-establish the constitution and a free country. Far from it. I see millions of angry poor who have been told that they are owed a better life rising up to destroy the "rich" folks that have "oppressed" them. In other words, the armed revolution that I see coming is a massive uprising of the 'poor'. A very, very large number of people in this country feel they have been cheated by the "rich" folks and "deserve" a cut. Thankfully I see most of THAT happening in large cities, which is sort of ok by me --- cities are the source of 9/10ths of our problems. -
we are not gonna get the presidency for a while IMHO. Need to keep congress locked down. The R primary process ensures a crap candidate that cannot win.

still funny though :)

if this is true its the funniest thing I have seen in weeks. I think this is a joke, though... found a link but it looks like fake news. http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/bloombergpizza.asp and if you copied that from a site, next time link instead, as it can cause copyright issues and headaches for TGO david.

I now have 2 941s and a 94, 22m and 22lr respectively, the all steel version (it comes in a lightweight zinc frame too but after the S&W experience I am done with potmetal). They have proven to be very accurate and reliable, the actions were rough out the box but cleaned up nicely. For the money, those little guns cannot be beat. Honestly, I have had good luck with their autos too, shot several beretta 92 clones and had a 709 slim for several years, all functioned properly and for the price I could not complain about any of them. One of the revolvers did have a manufacturing defect, and they promptly fixed the gun with excellent service.

yea the comment was to address why someone acts this way. Only time I act that way is if aggravated by the person, and if you did not do anything, well you have a jerk, about on par with an internet troll, and there isnt much you can do about it.

All those are very nice, and it comes down to what you like best since they are all going to fit the need 100%. From here you are into what feels best in your hand, which no one else can say, or what trigger you like best, or sight picture, or even just cosmetic look, etc. If its for target shooting, I recommend considering a 1911 in 9mm, to get a target friendly trigger. If "target shooting" means practice/plinking, that is different :) If you have not fired a single action auto, do yourself a favor and shoot one before you spend any money at all. Given the general shape and size of the guns you listed, also do yourself a favor and try out a CZ 75 model.

I do not know. But bleach kills almost everything, if that helps. Its also not good on some things, but where you can use it, its the #1 bug killer. You might try a local hospital, they might have a few of *something* you could buy / beg for, if the stores are a no-go. You might find it online with overnight shipping for a premium fee, worth it? food for thought: http://www.lysol.com/lysol-community/conversation/foggerbomb-3492 A comment by a lysol person! ... sorry a fogger/bomb type product would not be an effective surface disinfectant due to its limited and possibly uneven coverage of surfaces. Lysol® Disinfectant Spray, in its current form, offers a much more effective solution as it can be used accurately on a specific surface target, especially areas that are prone to carry germs such as handles, knobs, counters and other commonly touched surfaces.

I admit, I will do this to you if you tailgate me. I will move over if given a chance, but I take a special sort of pleasure in griefing the guy that is parked in my trunk. Its really simple ... 1 car length for every 10 mph. Get closer, and since I can't make you widen the gap, the only control I have is to slow down to match your distance to my bumper. Get 1 car length back, you gonna be going 10 mph in a min.

Honestly, its not US anymore. The USA has done a 100% turn around since the 50's - 70's era of big pollution and nasty manufacturing. If the world needs to go green, look elsewhere first and come back to us in 50 years. The sky here was ORANGE when I was a kid and smelled like an iron pot left on a hot eye only about 1000 times stronger. Now its clean ... we sent all our jobs and manufacturing overseas. The trash is nasty but its not super toxic like the manufacturing chemistry that is dumped all over the world. We certainly can do a lot of damage. That was never in doubt. Its even possible that we could raise the temp by a degree which would destroy a lot of life in the oceans (a lot of critters cant handle even small changes, the ocean changes little and they fail to adapt --- ask any saltwater fish person about screwing up things just a little and losing a tank). I will give the left 100% of global warming as an issue. Fine. But I reject their solutions --- cap and trade is just a tax on industry which is a tax on consumers and it solves nothing, they did not stop pollution, they just paid for it. I reject tax money spent on crap research that is of no value. I reject the idea that government can fix the problem with money, in other words. That leaves me with a desire to go green and be a good steward of the planet, but a distrust of anyone who thinks they can fix it with money. You want to fix the planet? Stop buying goods from third world countries that have no pollution controls, which allows them to make it cheaper and faster at the cost to the environment. You want to fix the planet, stop using all the corn to make crapgas and focus on making cars that can run off ---ane gas canisters or hydrogen or whatever. You want to fix the planet, give rewards to clean industry rather than punishments to offenders. You want to fix the planet, do not use the issue as an agenda to punish your political enemy.... I never see anyone pointing a finger at the unionized car manufacturers and the pollution of the rust belt..... I see them going after big oil, their political enemy.... which invalidates anything they have to say.

Nice one, I love the cz design and grip angle. Very accurate and smooth operating.

before you do anything, break it in more. Can you tell if its just a stout spring you are against or perhaps something could be polished?

smoke may be a sign of your process to some extent. A light crimp may be enough to give the powder time to burn more completely and reduce the smoke. #2 should not be too bad --- its a fast burner designed for a short barreled 380 or 25. I use #5 in 9mm now, 2 was too small a charge to get consistent loads for me. Nothing I have made has been as smoked as the cheap russian ammo. Nothing I have made has been as clean as WWB. Whatever that is worth :)

Welcome! AR is popular because they are accurate with cheap ammo, have big mags, and are highly customizable. Most folks with them have no need or desire to hit anything but paper with them.

Would-be robber didn't see this coming
Jonnin replied to White Goodman's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
hah! the perils of trying to use a shotgun to mug people and getting into hitting distance with a ranged weapon. If you gonna get that close, use a sword, its quieter and easier to conceal. -
the economics of consumable items (vs durable goods) is also different. There is no way to meet demand if the consumption rate is greater than the production rate, for a basic example of the obvious. That makes reselling ammo different from reselling beanie babies or the like.

You know, douglas adams was way underrated. His stuff was funny, but I learned a lot from it. What came to mind here was one of the guys had SEP glasses. (Someone Else's Problem). Whenever the wearer encountered something that was not his problem, the glasses blacked out to prevent having to look at/ deal with it. I have worn a set of these (imaginary of course) for decades now, its a way of life :) Compassion is a good thing, but it is often misplaced. There is a perfectly acceptable and inexpensive (even free) way to prevent having kids with someone you do not like. And there are all sorts of ways to avoid getting married to a tyrant of a woman (or man). I guess what I am saying is your compassion is misplaced. This guy's problems are 100% self inflicted (as are most problems for most people). If you feel a need to have compassion for someone, next time find some poor soul with terminal cancer and give them $500 instead --- it will be better spent. Just my useless 2 cents.

I can't expert you but the starting point is the current rule book, which will tell you what is allowed in a general sense, as a starting point, though its vague in a lot of places. If you have read that already ... someone else will have protips I am sure :) Adding to the above, its not just something you can use daily, it also has to follow their excessive safety rules so no pocket holsters and a number of other rigs are banned, it HAS to be on a belt for example so no ankle/shoulder/back/etc jobs. There are dozens of daily carry holsters that would not be considered safe enough for the sport. # mags is tied to capacity, but 2-3 for a standard 15 shot pistol is about right, 4 for a 1911 may be better. 9x19 caliber. 9mm is not sufficient (380 and 9x18 not allowed for example). lots of regs (again mostly safety) like min trigger weight, etc. So you can trick it out but only so far.

Oh 20 for 100 lol. I thought that was a 500 pak when I said that. Can't read too good sometimez.

If you want a custom gun, get one, and you will be happy with it and I am sure whoever does the work will go out of their way to ensure it is right. You almost never see customs up for sale and when you do, its because 1) the owner died or 2) its worn out or 3) owner is desperate for $$ and its a sad story etc. I have YET to see someone selling their custom $5k 1911 because "they got tired of it" or "it does not work" or the like. When you do see someone with one its their pride and joy. Basically, odds are in your favor of being very happy with it if its what you want.
