4.9 "Earthquake" Nuclear Bomb North Korea
Jonnin replied to TLRMADE's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Its like a kid with a box of firecrackers lol. We should just give them a wad of the good stuff and see if they are stupid enough to test it underground. OOO a 23.7 quake.... derp. -
Nice, I have a very similar model, might be the exact same one, and its been an excellent shooter. I upgraded mine a little along the way, but out of the box it was very good and reasonably priced.

Came into a snipped Enfield #4 -- need advice
Jonnin replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
sounds like it has been ruined of all value. I would make a custom rifle out of it, if it shoots straight after a cleaning and seems to be in good contion for action / barrel. You could sorta restore it but it would just be mismatched parts on a cut up gun -- semi authentic looking but of no value and probably not as easy to make accurate in scrap/spare original wood. I think it could be done if you can find a stock, the other parts are out there. Might convert the caliber, 303 is a bit hard to work with IMHO. -
It is not terribly difficult if you just want ammo that goes bang simialr to off the shelf ammo that you buy. If you get picky about accuracy, it can become more difficult. I will never be the one that tells you that handling ANY explosives is ever dummy proof, but it does follow a process and its not a difficult one. Even a detailed process of it is short, 5-10 steps depending on how picky you are about what a step IS. The last time I loaded big rifle (last year sometime) it was about $30 for 100 shots, compare that to whatever you buy for a rough idea of savings.

honestly even for 06, you may want to reload. Most rifle rounds cost far too much to not make your own. And once you reload em, the difference between the big group of 30 to 35 caliber rifles is small; the bulk of them are ballistically identical to 308 roughly with a few magnums that are more potent and a small number that are weaker (30-30 for example). If looking used, the caliber is what it is when you find a sweet gun. Much easier to find a good one if you compromise the caliber a wee bit.

Muslims want gun shop to stop selling targets
Jonnin replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
they are the loudest but many fundy baptists (and similar other protestants) would LOVE to have laws that allowed prayer in school, bible classes, and a number of them support morality laws as well such as anti-gay laws etc. My mom is one of these, wants school prayer but its NOT ok to teach the quaran in schools at the same time. She don't get it. I keep telling her schools have all they can do to get a tiny bit of reading, math, and science taught -- they barely accomplish this. -
1k is a lot for a BA rifle unless you want a top end long range gun. If you are willing to get a used gun, you can find some real gems for sale. If not dead set on the caliber, there are so many that perform like an 06 to pick from, one is as good as another. 308 being the most common but the bulk of the WWII stuff is about like 06 and *some* (a lot of them suck so beware) of the "sportered" mausers and mosins etc are very good quality, rugged guns for a modest price. I think buying new really limits your choices, but there is a lot to be said for not having to deal with something someone else messed up.

My boss is a bit annoying so I keep some of those fiber breakfast bars on hand. If he is feeling the need to chat I can down one of those and clear out my office before he eats up the whole day.

I would rather have a doctor onhand. Teeth problems suck, but you can always pull em out if it comes to that. The rest of the body is less forgiving.

yea the only cover up is the downplay in the media. It is seriously being played as "oops, sorry," / no big deal. The shoot first ask later approach has not really been questioned much. -
There is a personality type that has to be in your face --- this is usually the same type as the ones that think that they have to talk louder than everyone else because they are more important. I think you did well. There is no need to get in a fight over this --- the guy probably did not even realize he was doing it. Any chance he was a yankee?

Shooting in Delaware, 3 dead, 2 wounded
Jonnin replied to billyscott's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If they must do that, use car exhaust or sleeping pills or a rope please, no more gun suicides as that is almost as bad for us. People do break up like adults, who-knows-how-many times a day, 10k + I would bet easily? A few nuts in a population of billions is to be expected. even animals that are normally very social have "rogues" like the notorious rogue elephant or the like... -

the police cover something up? The media downplay it as nothing to worry about? Shoot to kill if so much as the vehicle looks like the one? Nah, couldn't be. -
I have a hard time finding "probable cause" when someone tells the LEO they have a legal weapon without being asked to do so. At that point, the citizen has done nothing wrong and has gone above and beyond the law to work with the LEO.

Muslims want gun shop to stop selling targets
Jonnin replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Correct, it is *wrong/bigoted* (I totally agree) but it is not illegal to be a bigot (yet). People are not obligated to be PC or follow the moral compass of anyone else. Those who are not offended can buy these things and shoot them. Those who are offended can buy something else or shoot at a beer can instead. What a great country! I support their right to complain. I support the shop to choose to not sell these products by choice. I would still shop there. Because the above were all by choice, and not by law, nothing that happened here is a big deal to me. -

Muslim isnt a race. It is not racist at all. Its a form of religious discrimination, same as one sees in the media daily (southparks jesus figure, for example) or using the name of the Lord as a curseword (thousands of movies, songs, etc). Or the thousands of church jokes, how many have you heard about (a,b, c die and meet st. peter..... etc) ? Americans (right or wrong) poke fun at religion frequently. It is intolerent, sure, but its mostly in good fun. The same is true of these targets. I do not personally shoot them or care for them, but as long as it is OK to play southpark on TV, its OK to shoot a turban clad target. Turbans, after all, are a religious symbol and nothing more --- and they are not unique to muslims; I think the hindu wear them as well? -
presumably some tiny minority of people who do not drive might want a gun? In which case the DL becomes a HCP only code, its not that hard to handle, there is an ID only version anyway I think (?). It would make sense to stamp a code on the DL to me, they do that for people with glasses and what vehicle types you can use and so on. I am OK with telling the LEO up to the point that I encounter a jerk. One jerk will spoil this for me, has not happened yet but disarm me over speeding, I will no longer tell them. Make up BS laws (you cant have one in the chamber is a common one) and I will stop telling them. Basically, if they want us to tell them, they better toe the line on respecting our rights and knowing the law.

I am trying to think of the last time a baptist strapped on a stick of dynamite and blew themselves up at the abortion clinic, and drawing a blank. The last time an angsty islamist "radical" exploded was last month (though not in the states lately). -

I guess after obama busted a cap in osama, the zombie "muslim" targets hit too close to home.. -
Most shooters are such noobs that when they leave a target, I am happy to use it --- usually the middle is still there and their shotgun patter off the center does not bother me :)
-
Most likely it just ended up there somehow, rather than intentionally put there. You find all kinds of strange things. People back then also did not have trash service and would bury or make a pile someplace not too far from the house, anything else nearby? I have never been able to make "sense" of the stuff on our family property --- you would find nearly intact (but now very rusty), usable stuff (usually a tool of some sort) buried anywhere and everywhere, like it was just dropped and left there one day. In the tornados that hit most recently we lost most of our big trees and one of em fell over to reveal a trash heap, which was now a treasure trove of intact antique bottles. The above is a thought, any bones under it?

You know, its sort of eye opening. This part of the above.... And before anyone here starts to say I need to be tolerant of other peoples beliefs, well I am. Don’t get me wrong I believe in live and let live… But when you have a group of people that wants to change every thing to fit their way of life, or it offends them well that’s when I draw a line on the pavement. And I have a list of things that I am going to do, and I really don’t care what the **** say. 100% fits liberals. -
sorta the same thing but I have twice ordered something new rather than wait for info on the gun to come out in more detail. Someone has to be the first, right? I won't do that again!

I think the truck was a diversion. He may not be rambo but he knows how cops think. If he is rational (and who knows?) he would have left them stuff to waste time on while he got away and waits out the hunt. Then he hunts again. Or he could have paniced when his steal a boat plan went wrong. Again, I keep expecting a "tip" that is an ambush. In a sense, he has already done a ton of damage. A couple of victims aside (sounds cold but 3 people is less than any number of gang members in LA, I would bet on it) we have 2 screwup shootings (lawsuits possible?? or deal for a new truck??) , we have 10000000 cops runing across the state burning fuel and using up all kinds of cop equipment, we have them opening his investigation again (time and money), and so on. He will singlehandedly bankrupt the state in a month at this rate ---- and he could do it dead under a snowbank, for that matter. -
Shared table at the Chattanooga Alhambra Show Feb 9th and 10th
Jonnin replied to a topic in Events and Gatherings
That depends on what you want out of it? Its not a good place to seek out modern rifles or pistols & high demand ammo. Because atm there isnt any good place to find those things. There were a "few" reasonably priced modern guns if they did not sell yet, but mostly, this show is more collectors, and 3/4 the guns are older than I am.
