  1. I think someone here suggested that your HCP cover the background check for you as a one time, done deal solution.  This would be similar and work for non permit holders.   This works because presumably if you get a felony conviction or restraining order etc you lose the HCP, right?   And it won't fly.  They want their $$$$ every time you buy, at least in TN.
  2. I don't think its the hoarders or preppers doing most of it so much as people wanting to flip for 100%+ profits it at the next show or online etc.   Catch 22, until the shelves DO fill up again, people will keep trying to make a buck.  But they are the ones buying it.  Recovery is gonna be slow.
  3. Media garble I would wait 2 days for any sense to come out of the media.  Last headliner said a flashbang was set off and they stomed the place because the guy had a gun.  Which is about stoopid  --- he SHOT the bus driver, did you think he had thrown the gun away after???  He had a gun this whole time, and anyone with any sense knew *that*.  Its just random words to some of these reporters.
  4. excessive force.  Now if you can remember how hard you were pushing, try to push less hard than that from now on.     Useless comment aside, really, primers should only take a gentle push to go in.
  5. speaking of kennedy and carcanos and uses for them, I suddenly had an answer for you
  6. I want to try a rhino, on again off again on buying one.    TY for the video, very well done and useful as there still isnt much good info on the rhino.   I do love my 19-3 too, best shooting 357 I have owned (includes a python ).
  7. he looks like a pro wrestler.   Reminds me of that movie about old gangsters...  "you said the good times were gonna last forever"  & response  "I thought we'd be dead by now"   Last time I heard something good from him was their cover attemp (spaghetti incident)
  8. sportsmans warehouse has/had /22 today, 525 gold painted rem.  They were selling either AR or AK as well, I didnt bother them (big crowd) on what it was.  Its all up at the service desk now, NOT in the gun area.  They probably had a sign that said that  but I did not see it.   This was at 4:30 or so that I got a box.
  9. sorry didnt see the other one had degenerated into the comics.
  10. I think its how the [img] tags work here, they only like some links and not others.   there are a bunch here in a slideshow, best I can do right this min   http://www.nationalreview.com/
  11. Do an internet search on "obama shotgun photoshop" for some fun.  My 2 favorites:   Ah it wont link easily.   But I liked the grand theft auto & dukes of hazard car ones.
  12. maybe its anonymous...   or its big brother, looking to see who responds or forwards it etc.
  13. Yes.  Anything involving money: your job, buying a car, buying a house, getting a credit card, etc all run a "credit check" which has more personal info on you than the current gun background checks.   If you work for the govt, and get a clearence, you all but get anal probed, they ask your neigbors, family, co-workers, everyone about you.  They study your finances.  They want to know who your friends are.  Its DEEP.   Insurance: your health history, job, finances, and more are required including your SSN for who knows what backtracking.   Drivers or CCW ID cards -- same deal, background check is run on you.    Most non govt jobs also check you out.   The exception seems to be if you work around kids at a school, where checks suddenly become lax.    Any money transaction over a pittance due to Ws patriot act is investigated so they are sure you are not a terrorist.   I can keep going but mostly its related to income or money, THAT is something we CARE about.
  14. I do not see him as a great speaker either.  He keeps it soft, running a weak PR campaign that is losing on all fronts.  His strategy seems to be to accept the loss in the media, PR, and overall image of the NRA and gun owners while beefing up his bribes to congress.   Effective, but he needs to fight on both fronts, we need better PR.
  15. very little of modern law is "constitutional" yet it passes the SCOTUS by precedence or just activitst judges.     In the same way that obamacare is "constitutional", so will be any gun control garbage.   The court will OK it, stamp it, and it will be the law of the land until the judges are replaced with conservatives --- which won't happen in at least 4 years.  The court, regardless of control, has a habit of not reversing itself in general, though it has happened it is not something to bet the farm on.   If background checks cost money, and they do, it is a TAX ON A RIGHT.   That is how we fight it, if it passes.  But then again, healthcare is NOT A TAX supposedly, except its a tax.   Difficult to win this one.   Individual states can tell the feds to go take a running jump but the feds can follow up by cutting off grants and other money.   Many states will find it difficult to function without handouts.   The BAFTE can try to enforce it but they do not have the resoruces.  NO ONE has the resources actually --- a few stings might net some people, esp expect to be stung if you try to sell or buy at a gun show or off questionable or the most popular websites.   But there is simply no way to stop people from selling guns without going to a FFL first without 10000x the manpower available.    They cannot even stop the bulk of the meth labs, let alone the bubbas that will sell guns to each other quietly.
  16. Right now was JUST FINE.      I already would have been dead a good 5 times over if I had been born to see the civil war or revolutionary war.  WWII would have been rough, they had a semblance of medicine back then but I still would have been legally blind (no lasick yet) and possibly deaf (serious childhood ear infections/ tubes/ surgeries/ more).   I had pnumonia as a kid as well, and spent 2 weeks in a hospital bed with an oxygen tent.   My gall bladder went sour and removal of that in 1875 would have been ROUGH if they even knew what to do in time (like an appendix, it swells and pops and its game over).   I go straight from pale to lobster in any sunlight, and all anyone did before 1970 was stay outside all day long (apparently?) so I would have skin cancer by now too.  My wife would be dying, dead, or immobile from MS by now.  Instead they have slowed it and she can still walk and shoot and more.   So, yea, right now seems to be a good time for me.   It would awesome to visit some of those (for me, I would see the revolutionary war era) but live there? No freakin way.
  17. compromise is great.  What  are they offering, will they remove the 1930s and 1960s gun laws from the books?   I glanced through it but I could not find what they were offering to us in their "compromise" anyone see it?? Hmm.   He also seems to be full retard, claiming automatic weapons are on the streets.   He is not that dumb, so he must be a liar.
  18. watch the surplus, good chance it is corrosive. Plenty of people own and shoot these guns.  I dunno if they are still shooing surplus or making their own loads for it these days.    I think it as a little more following due to LHO using one on kennedy?

guns are not potential voters.  If they thought an m16 would vote for a liberal they would give them out as an entitlement.
  20. the sign should say no tresspassing, and nothing else.   I would talk to them, make friends, give them a number to call if they see anyone, etc.  Might even offer to let them use it if they need to (for what??) in exchange for helping you keep an eye on it?  After all, your goal is likely theirs: keeping it looking decent (no trash dump) and keeping away any crazyies (meth lab, illegal hunting, homeless squatters, etc).  And if they are the ones using it and making a mess, its a warning to cease and desist but in a very nice way --- now they know someone cares about it.
  21. Well, if you grab the foodwrap & make a hat, it means:   there will be a sudden increase to nearly 100% of denied purchases due to a "glitch" in the system caused by "the new improvements" which will then "not exactly register" you in mr database.     If you take off the tinfoil, like it or not, the bafte has a mandate from congress already and I am not sure these measures are "outside" that mandate or not.  Its on the edge, sure, but I am not 100% sure he bypassed congress to do these things.   The american indian data sharing seems within his powers.  The second one, sharing data across agencies, also seems to be within his powers.   The third one, keeping a database, seems to be at best questionable, I am simply not sure if that is an overstep or not.
  22. if you are going to drop a grand on a sig, get a single action design instead IMHO.  Then it will be a different shooting experience from the glock.  The DA/SA would be as well, but that model isnt comfortable to shoot for me, the trigger system is just poorish.
  23. splits are trash or cutdown to another caliber as stated.  I can't see them in the pics, a little in the new pic but not in the original.  I thought you were looking at dents in the case mouth.   50/1000 isnt too bad for range brass sold "as is" --- it happens.
  24. yes.  Run them thru the sizer die and trim them.  Discard AFTER that step if they still look wonky.    At least half of those can be saved, probably all but the next to last one.
  25. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/02/01/biden-concedes-new-laws-wont-end-gun-massacres/     "Nothing we are going to do is fundamentally going to alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down," Biden said, echoing remarks President Barack Obama made in January when he said "there is no law or set of laws that can prevent every senseless act of violence completely."
