  1. Agreed, there is always an alternative.  Yes, I have things I would hate to lose, but none of em is worth a life.    It did not sound like a home, though, it sounded like a small weekend getaway cabin type thing.     Odds are the fire was an accident anyway.   I would say I doubt the LAPD is into setting fires, but, I would also have said 2 weeks ago that the LAPD did not shoot randomly in the general direction of anyone that looked like a suspect.
  2. I can see a partial animation that, going off a total guess, looks like part of the makarov shooting game (complete with russian text) ?
  3.   Its a choice to make, do you risk the lives of your men, with 2 more hit already in the standoff, one dead, or do you light a fire and pay the owner for the damage?  A cabin can be rebuilt.      I could live with it if they burned down my home and paid me for the damage.   I would not be thrilled about it, but I could live with it.    Come to think of it, if he had holed up in my house, he would have had food and water for months on end, and enough ammo and firepower to take over a small city.   Ya gotta sleep eventually.  Keep him awake for 96 hours running and then let him drift away.
  4. aye, fire is a very effective tool when used properly, if they set it, then hats off to someone for having the good sense to do what it takes.   I would say its highly likely he killed himself as the fire became too much.   Those 2 women he had tied up....  really SHOULD get the 1 million reward.
  5. shipping is usually rough though.  It could be as simple as a busted spring,  up to you whether you feel like taking a look in there (not sure at all how difficult it is to get at the action of a 92).
  6. but did the govt tell them to say that the govt isn't behind it all?   :hiding:
  7.   I do not think any modern conservative stands for the bigotry or violence against groups.  The last few mass shootings were left leaning psychopaths, but much as I dislike most leftists, I cannot say the shooters represent the typical lefty.  The right has a few neo-nazis that hate everyone, but those are pretty rare and do not represent the typical righty.   Compromise does not mean changing what you think, it just means working with someone you disagree with to hammer out the best solution you can.  I am very willing to compromise so long as I GET SOMETHING from it.   All to often, compromise at the federal govt level to me ends up meaning "you take it in the #$^% and we get all the perks".   The 2 world views remain pretty much binary and polarized -- which is fine --- but we DO need leadership that can work around that.   We do not have such leadership, and have not had it in many, many decades, if not over a centurary.   Leftist gun control compromise is a great example of this: "you get to keep a shotgun, we take away all the ars, that is compromise and working together!"
  8. mobile meth lab?  Anyone see a van up in a tree?
  9. I think the guns are starting to catch up.  Ammo, not even close, and if it clears up by the end of the year I will be amazed.
  10. I also use the lee die.   I crimp a bit heavy because I use a slower powder and that helps it burn out fully.  A fast powder, all you need is to hold the bullet in place when it hits the freed ramp, which is a light crimp.  Its hard to over-crimp with this die but you can make it heavier than it needs to be (harmless) if you want.   The lee die is nice and consistent, which is a big plus.
  11.   Those are at odds.  It is very difficult to be a "progressive" (whatever that even means to anyone) and follow that with an anti-big-government proclamation.   The entire progressive platform is that government should be in charge of everything and fix all problems.   If the person is law abiding, govt should have no say in who they can or cannot marry, what healthcare they use, or any of thousands of other things that govt has managed to grab control of.     People say everyone is polarized, but at the end of the day, its binary problem.  Either govt is in charge of everything you do, or it isnt.   Its hard to be a moderate here.... what is a "moderate" going to say, that its ok for govt to say what healthcare we use but not who owns a gun?   I agree that the leadership for both parties is horrible and conservative, small government leadership is nonexistant for sure.   But I am unsure of how you can claim to be liberal leaning with such a bold conservative message :)
  12. C+ is failing?  I don't even understand what the problem is, I thought C and up were passing grades.
  13. Hmm, I see 2 choices here...   1) keep the mini.   2) keep the $250 mini stock (put orig back on),  and trade for your favorite.  Sell the stock by itself or replace the mini at a future date.
  14. yea maybe not.  No gun person would, but there are 20 million idiots looking for an AR right now....   bet a guy with 4 ARs has extra mags if you think the mini is worth more.
  15. Yea.  The bush is for the value which is mostly percieved over actual -- brand name recognition.   The other 2 are the ones to get to SHOOT, as already said by several. I dunno a thing about the ATI.
  16. well, he is out a few hundred bucks and that is one down, 400 million -1 to go.    Hey liberals ----   If the police and government and a few individuals can destroy guns at a rate of 2000 per year, and manufacturers can produce them at a rate of 100k per year, how long before there are no guns left in the US?   Show your work.
  17.   there is nothing any of them will do that your 30 will not unless you want better long range accuracy (past 300 yards or competition levels at 100) or are annoyed by the way the mags seat.   If you can pick ANY of those, get the bushmaster ---- the brand is going away (???) I think (???) and of value (notorious for school shooting).  It will be worth more if you change your mind, and IMHO all of those are equal for function for the most part.  The bush maybe better on top of its value.
  18. I have 2 of the M&Ps and unless you are looking to compete long range, I cannot see why you would spend $1000 more for *anything* unless you just had the money to spend (fine by me, but I don't GET it).     One of them I have shot thousands of times in 3 gun and for fun, and not a hiccup, still dead on all day long.   The other has my bumpfire stock and it has been abused some with that (gets HOT FAST) and it also has not had the first glitch.     For now, you take whichever one you can get at a decent price, but all things being equal, the M&P is an exceptional gun for its price range.
  19. SSDD   But really, how you gonna mark ammo?  Its not possible.  Microstamped, it will be destroyed on impact.  At best they can mark the cases somehow... maybe on the inside of the rim?  Once it is known where, its not hard to fix it.   This is the result of decades of no science lol.   Mark the ammo, go ahead.  Have at it.   It will work about as well as copy protection on cds......
  20. He had 2 prisoners and 1 got loose that is how they found him.   This will all be over very soon.
  21. nothing new there, new math: the wrong answer is fine, just try to solve it and that is good enough.   The right answer is not really important anyway.   For the last 20 years or so math in many schools has headed off on this tangent, then we wonder why our SAT scores fell off or why other countries kids are better at math and science than we are.
  22. I do not think that question is "allowed" to be answered outside of the idiotic obvious answers.  I mean, its public domain that we have a variety of anti-missile-missiles --- but that is like saying we have airplanes and submarines.  Actual capability .... is not discussed.
  23.   Would you have us declare war with "they have weapons" as our justification to the rest of the world?  If not, what action would you have us take?  We are unwilling to play to win, so it is not in our interest to get into any war at all.  And this would be a much bigger fight than against a third world military.   Worse, it would prove the leader for life "correct" in his assertation that  the USA is a threat and agressor, and all that goes with the bad press, if we attack first.   EMP IS scary.  I just feel that a hole where a city used to be would be a bigger deal to the average citizen and the UN etc.
  24. eh he has either flown the coop to mexico or canada or something or is holed up waiting for the manhunt to end so he can set up another ambush.     He could live out his life in another country and never be seen again, or he could still be trying to wage his war.   He has had every chance to ambush a 2 man team here and there so either he wants a specific person for a target or he is long gone.
  25.   Yes and no.  Blowing away a city with the loss of life of say around 1 million would be a big, big, big deal.   The actual damage to the USA in the "grand scheme" would be minor, but the impact on society and the world and more would be beyond comprehension.     EMP just does not carry that far, I think the bomb has to be over the target city +- some radius but one fatboy sized nuke over iowa or something isnt going to take out the lights in TN and NY and LA all at one go.   Also --- emp is not too hard to make without a nuke, though a city-sized blast takes a bomb the real danger is hitting a critical system with a small localized pulse.   And, there are defenses against emp for truly critical systems.   I think loss of life would have a greater impact at this time due to the psychology of the average US citizen.   I think NK could land a nuke somewhere in the USA (its a big target) without a lot more tech than they have.  I doubt they could hit DC or NY or anything on purpose, but it does not matter at this stage in the game.  If they can land one *anywhere*, even the middle of nowhere, the result would be .... war, chaos, and a whole lot of things happening across the world.
