What Mike said. No HCP, no carry, "unless" it is a legal hunting weapon "during" hunting season. Without a permit, no loaded guns in the campground, even if legal for hunting.
-
True. If you are allowed by a law enf. agency, & follow Dept. policy, they will cover you. Other than that, you're on your own. At least that's my Dept. policy, and others that I know of. Laws sometimes change...policy sometimes change. Be "certain" you know what they are as it relates to you. Ignorance can be a killer in court.

Employee pulls gun during Wal-Mart produce dispute
Grunt67 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Not to make light of the situation, but this would be understandable at a gas station, but the produce dept? Walmart does play funny little games with prices. Have caught 'em at it. I don't care for tomatoes anyway, but wouldn't draw down on someone over one, or the price. Likely, underlying issues at work here, as well. As someone else said, this doesn't make us look good in the gen. public eye. -
Reloading bench in the house or in the garage?
Grunt67 replied to Dad03's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I keep primers & powder stored in separate locations as well. Both are inside the house tho. Don't have an outside facility where I can control temp. & moisture. It's a safe setup. Edit to add.... in addition to the reloading bench, also have DirecTV, Computer, Verizon internet. A real "man cave". Never have to move....unless the wife says so, of course, LOL. Pretty neat, actually. -
OS, the 709 was 1st. then the 740.

>1 this. Gonna need more support to prevent tipping forward, even with angle brackets to the wall. Good start, but like another poster stated, you're gonna want to expand. Regardless, enjoy. I built my latest bench from scratch, with 2x4s for legs & table top support & 1 1/2 " table top, angle bracketed to the wall studs. This works fine for me, so far, but your setup may be different. My top is 2'x4' BTW. Added shelves above and below top. Still could use more space. Just no more available here. No such thing as too much space. LOL

Well, in this particular issue of AR, Taurus has 1 ad, while Kimber has 5. Springfield as 2, etc. While I'll agree, as I said in an earlier post, that I don't see the 740 as Handgun of the Year, I can't see bashing it either. To each, his/her own.

It's been my experience, if you live in a Metro area, Sprint, AT&T, may be ok. Leave the city limits....Verizon is about the only one that gets reception. Personally, I wouldn't P on AT&Ts butt if their insides were on fire. JMHO

Well, I finally drank the kool-aid & tried the Nu Finish in a batch of cases. Worked fine for me. Came out bright & shiny, & slicker than owl snot. LOL

I have a Wilson, which worked fine for me. Not the fastest thing on the planet, YMMV. If I was into large quantities, I'd likely go with some powered model.

Reloading bench in the house or in the garage?
Grunt67 replied to Dad03's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have done both. Key is keeping temperature & moisture at required levels. Mine is currently inside, which works best if you have a choice. -
While I don't own a PT709, I have fondled several at the gun shows. Like the size, feel, & "slimness" of this little gun. I plan on buying one as soon as I can scrape up the $$$. Wife likes the feel of the 709 as well. Make a great carry gun for her or myself.

Great device for getting ones self shot by mistake.

Probably many of us make the rounds on gun forums, and have read all the horror stories on Taurus quality problems, CS, etc. On the other hand, some of these problems seen to have been corrected. Human nature, myself included, when you have one bad experience with a product, it leaves a permanent bad taste in the mouth. My wife had a Taurus 24/7 40S&W, that worked fine. Finally sold it because it was just too much gun for her. I keep a box of salt handy when reading forums. Same can be said when reading gun mags. I'll agree making the PT740 Handgun Of the Year may be a stretch, but it can still be a decent gun. Just saying, LOL

I've been looking at the PT709 for some time for a carry gun, and also for the wife. Seems like Taurus has the bugs worked out of this model. As soon as finances permit...I'm going to take the plunge for this gun. Currently have a XDM 40, full size, but it's just a bit bulky & heavy for carry. Will need to caliber down to 9mm for the wife. The 40 is a bit much for her. All need now is to win Powerball & I'll be in business, LOL. Won't be trading the XDM, BTW. It has found a home here.

+1 on Cades Cove. My favorite place on the planet. LOL, snakes are everywhere. Black panthers....don't hold your breath.

Goodman's Gun Show this weekend @ Fairgrounds
Grunt67 replied to Grunt67's topic in Events and Gatherings
I didn't find anything much at the show. Did pick up a box of 22LR. Went by the Reloaders Bench in Mt. Juliet & picked up some powder & bullets. Noticed a few of the regular dealers weren't at the show. Show admission going up....quality going down. But, then, so are many other things. -
Where is the best place to buy Snap Caps
Grunt67 replied to wcsc12's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Saw some .22LR snap caps at the fairgrounds show today. 2 for $1. Looked like solid plastic. Wonder how long that would hold up. -
what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
Grunt67 replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
I like a good bourbon. Usually Old Charter 8 yrs. old. Sometimes a good Long Island Tea. -
Probably not the same situation from the OP, but in case you're not aware yet, there is a scam running now, whereby the caller says your debit card has been revoked, names a bank & likely asks for personal info, which you should never give out & your bank will not ask for over the phone. I've had three of these calls. Just hung up. It's all over Middle TN, I know, unsure about state/nation wide. There will be no useable phone # on the caller ID. Sounds automated. Bottom line, if it doesn't sound right, hang up!

Got a question before I put this in our no guns list.
Grunt67 replied to bronco302's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The one in Clarksville on Ft. Campbell Blvd. was not posted about a year ago. I was by there a few days ago, but didn't stop there, so.... May just be managers discretion. -
I agree totally. With this guys background, it'd make me a bit nervous about the weapons background. I work in LE myself, and would want to clear this up, personally, before I bought it. A problem now will go down better now than later. FWIW, my wife is a much better negotiator than I am as well. She could talk a squirrel down out of a hickory tree. LOL Hope all works out for the best. As stated by another poster, I'm not the biggest Glock fan. Owned a GL22, my duty weapon is a GL22. Good gun, very reliable, just like my XDm 40 much better. To each his/her own. Enjoy!

Anyone interested in tactical pants I recently bought a pair of TruSpec 24/7 65% 35% ripstop pants. These things are really great. Wear good, look good, can be used tactical or casual. Function great either way. Liked them so well, I bought 2 more pair. Ordered mine from U.S. Cavalry online. Shipping was fast. Couple of days via FedEx. Price was $36 + S/H, total about $48. Just FWIW TRU-SPEC® 24-7 Series Tactical Pant

Point taken. Kinda like calling the IRS about a tax issue. Talk to 20 different folks, get 20 different replies. I'd still give Lisa a call, she seems to be the only person at DOS with any grasp of what's going on.

Could be. Lebanon has 4 at last count. Not that far away, so........if there's a market, maybe gun times are good. Competition helps keep prices down, or so they say. LOL
