  1. You're right, gas prices are expected to hit $4 / gal by Memorial Day, which will be no surprise. Not far from there now. It's going to trickle down to everything else. Wouldn't suggest you grab every component you can lay hands on ( we've been there before), but if you need something, or in the near future, might want to pick up a few. May get another can of HS-6 & some Hornady 40 S&W bullets. That's about it. Good shape on primers.
  2. LOL, Well, that's been known to happen. Happened to me a few times. One of the reasons I was curious why the trade. You Tropic Lightning too?
  3. I have the XDm40 full size. Wish I had waited for the compact. Other than that, no complaints. Full size is just a bit heavy & bulky for carry, especially concealed. Heck of a gun tho.
  4. Bill Goodman's Gun /Knife Show this weekend @ Nashville Fairgrounds. Anyone gonna make it? Only game in town this weekend. Guess I'll have a go at it.
  5. Just wondering why you want to change. Apparently not the caliber.
  6. Certainly better than times past. Congratulations & welcome to the club.
  7. Used to shoot quite a bit of Alabama ammo years ago, in 9mm. Never had an issue. Never tried the Tenn stuff.
  8. This show is for folks with nothing whatsoever to do. Trump is a a--hole. Bad news is, he wants to be Pres.
  9. Gotta agree with my East TN. neighbor here. Gets old quick. On a line with American Chopper, Survivor, Top Shot, etc. Do something interesting we can relate to. Making a RPG out of a hand full of Lucks bean cans or whatever isn't worth watching. You can do most anything if you have the budget & a shop full of equipment.
  10. There was an article in the "Tennessean" a few days ago that debunked the "black panther' or any other panther theory. According to the TWRA, there has been no proof of any panthers in TN. Now believe what you will, or what you may have seen or heard. Also, according to the article, panthers, mountain lions, etc. may be working their way Eastward, much like coyotes have. Whether they are here or not, may not be far from actuality. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you? Stay tuned. If you have a sighting, etc. get some viable proof. Scat, hair, photo, video, etc. Something you can take to the bank. Otherwise, it'll be right up there with Bigfoot. "the truth is out there" X Files.........
  11. Maybe, maybe not. LOL. Many moons ago, I had a Remington Mod.742 Bdl. in 30-06 go full auto on me. Scared the crap out of me! Never did it before or after. Have NO idea what went wrong, but had my full, undivided attention for a long time afterward. Full auto is great if you're expecting it. Hair raising otherwise. This was maybe 40 yrs. ago. Still in memory.
  12. Never tried one of these. Never had any faith in this stuff. My opinion, somewhat like a placebo. If you believe it works, it might. Like to see some tangible evidence.
  13. Yes, it will show up when they run your DL in TN. Other states I can't say, but likely they do as well. Should show the HCP status as well, unless it's so recent it hasn't been posted in the system yet. Things will go much smoother if you just mention it up front. Remember, "you" know you're a good guy/gal. The officer has no idea who he/she is dealing with when they walk up to your vehicle. Thanks
  14. No problem. Honestly believe you'll find it worth the time & money. $19.95 +S&H at Amazon. Here's the link to it. Amazon.com: Teaching Women to Shoot: A Law Enforcement Instructor's Guide (9780965942232): Vicki Farnam, Diane Nicholl: Books
  15. Here's what I did with my wife, and will recommend it to anyone. Get a copy of "Teaching Women To Shoot, A Law Enforcement Instructor's Guide". Got mine from Amazon. Written By two female firearms instructors, Viki Farnam & Diane Nicholl. The book is geared for women. Women learn firearms differently than men. Think the book was about $20, and worth every penny. What you have started out doing is great. Simple steps, with time for it to sink in & be comfortable. Basically what the book teaches. Good luck to both.
  16. Not many things man has made that cannot fail. Take care of your equipment...it'll take care of you. Guns & accessories are not a set & forget item.
  17. Yeah, I don't like clocks either. No trigger, hammer, magazine, barrel. Great for keeping up with the time of day tho.
  18. I like going to the gun shows. Personally, I would prefer they keep the flea mkt. stuff out of it. I'm sure it helps pay the bills, but with admission continually going up, not sure they can justify that issue. I'm not into jerky or knives, but obviously some are, or the dealers couldn't afford to keep showing up. Best part being, lots of stuff to lay eyes & hands on, you won't find in any one store. As someone else stated, the Goodman show has gone downhill since the old days with multi bldgs. Would be interested to know why that is. Not like the fairgrounds buildings are all full on that weekend. RK shows are nowhere near what they were in the old Walmart bldg. in Smyrna. In spite of all the B'ing & griping, I still enjoy going. Exception: Franklin show. Total waste of time & admission. Won't go back there. BTW, it started out great as well.
  19. Went to the Gallatin show about mid-day. Decent show, building not filled to capacity with dealers or buyers. Parking was improved...gravel where there was mud back in the winter. Just too many shows, too close together, according to some dealers I talked to. Still looking for an old/new, 16ga. single shot at a decent price. All I find are Winchester Mod. 37 @ $ 200 - $350 range.
  20. LOL, you beat me to it! Was going to ask the same thing.
  21. Doesn't really matter. This bill would have about the same chance as a snowball in a furnace. Maybe later, not right now.
  22. Always seemed strange to me is why this moron, who could have made himself a General, Prime Minister, El Presidente'. etc., instead made himself a "Colonel"!
  23. Cypher, as suggested, the first thing you need to do is find out from the DOS, what happened to cause your HCP to be revoked. Don't spend money on an attorney until you have to. If this is a screwup by DOS, let them fix it, then take the correction to the DA or court as required, and get a court order for the return of the gun & permit. As for notifying the officer, as you did, that you were carrying, you did right. The "law" doesn't require it, but it is accepted procedure. Things work better that way. As for any order of protection, you could have one issued by the court "ex parte'", which is usually issued in case of emergency, until everyone involved gets into court. In that case you would not have been notified beforehand. Since you say you haven't had any problem of this nature, it's not likely. I work in LE & a Court Officer. This is the usual procedure for such matters. Whether this fits your situation exactly, I can't say. Just an educated guess. Wait until you get word from DOS & go from there. Little else you can do 'til then. If you do have a more serious problem, then a lawyer may be in order. Good luck...
  24. Never give away your location. The element of surprise is the best thing you have going for you vs a BG. Racking a shell into the chamber, firing a warning shot, yelling get out of here, may just be the last thing you ever do.
  25. Yeah, I kept expecting the gun to go off accidentally.
