  4. And they have matches at the Middle TN Sporting Association not far from where you @10-Ring are. You would be looking at shooting factory class. I am head deep into ARA so if you would have any questions, just let me know. They don't start shooting matches this year until April. Eagle Eye Shooting in Mt. Pleasant is farther for you, but Mathew typically has a lot of matches planned. His start in March. MTSA: http://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/club/view/510 Eagle Eye: http://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/club/view/495 A lot depends on what type of shooting you think she would like. ARA is off of a bench and more precision/accuracy oriented. NRL is going to be more interactive with different stages, distances, etc. If it matters, ARA doesn't have youth only shoots. Everyone shoots at the same time but this hasn't ever been an issue. We have many young shooters around the country.
  5. Stopped by eagle eye facility today, holy smokes, what a cool place, 5 HUGE outdoor bays for rifle/pistol, plus 100,200,and further for rifle.,shotgun area w machines as well for bird busting, was in a rush but wow, what a sweet place to shoot! 10 bucks for a day, 15 for multi range use, nice clubhouse, plenty o parking, small gunshop, food, picnic tables, about an hour from nashvegas.Great place to hold a live tgo shoot!
  6. For an indoor range, Top Gun is OK. You might also look at Eagle Eye as an outdoor range as it's a bit closer. If you are going to be shooting often, look into an annual membership as it'll save you a considerable amount. Eagle Eye Shooting Complex 9613 Elk Ridge Rd, Mount Pleasant, TN 38474 931-379-7977 If going to Eagle Eye, I suggest calling ahead and making sure there are no events scheduled before driving down.
  7. EAGLE EYE SHOOTING COMPLEX 30 ELK RIDGE RD. MT. PLEASANT, TN 931-379-7977 CENTERFIRE ONLY MAX CALIBER OF .30, MAX MUZZLE VELOCITY OF 3200FPS MIXTURE OF STEEL AND PAPER TGTS.
  8. EAGLE EYE SHOOTING COMPLEX 30 ELK RIDGE RD. MT. PLEASANT, TN 931-379-7977 HOSTING NRL. 22 MATCH DECEMBER 9TH (THIS IS A TACTICAL PRECISION RIMFIRE MATCH) SHOOTING AT 9:00AM. (SIGHT IN TIME FROM 8:00 TO 8:45 AM) ENTRY FEE IS $20, AGES 8-18 FREE 70 ROUNDS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE MATCH.
  9. Eagle Eye is pay by the day, but you can get an annual family membership. Your 7-year old son wouldn't be an issue. Eagle Eye doesn't have a website, but you can call them at: (931) 379-7977 I'd call before heading down to be sure they're open and a match isn't scheduled for the part of the range you want to use.
  10. Eagle Eye Shooting Complex in Mt. Pleasant, TN is hosting their Rimfire Sniper Challenge 4-8-17. This is as much fun as anyone can have with a rimfire. PRS style shoot with targets as far as 300 yards. Shooting begins at 10 am. Come early if you need to zero. Round Count is 60, but it is a good idea to have 100 on hand. 6 courses of fire. $20 entry fee.
  11. Eagle Eye shooting complex in Mt. Pleasant, TN will be having their 3 gun match, April 9th. registration begins at 9am. 14. My family and I enjoy Eagle eye .
  15. A few outdoor ranges that are fairly close to where you live to check out would be: 1. Charlie Haffner range in Spring Hill 2. Eagle Eye range in Mount Pleasant 3. Maury County Gun Club which is north west of Columbia. 4. Strategic Edge range in Chapel Hill
  16. Has pistol and 100 200 300 400 500 yard ranges here is the web site http://www.eagleeyeshootingrange.com/
  17. Anyone know anything about this place? It's around Summertown on 60 acres and has "up to 500 yard" range.   http://www.eagleeyeshootingrange.com/
  18. I'm a regular there as it's only a couple of miles from home. If you can, show up on Saturday for an early lunch as Saturdays are the only day they have peach cobbler. I suggested "early" as they often sell out of peach cobbler. For a first visit, I'd suggest anything (sandwich or plate) with sliced brisket. When looking the menu, if you want to carry (just) leftovers home, the 2 or 3 meat plates are a good option. Also be sure to try the southwest potatoes. As an aside, Frank not only owns Shaffer's Meats, but also the local gun range Eagle Eye.
  19. There are some ARA matches in Mt. Pleasant at eagle eye. Next one is scheduled in March. https://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/index.php https://www.americanrimfire.com/index.php/club/view/495
  20. I'm in Summertown (in between Lawrenceburg and Columbia) and the local range is Eagle Eye listed as Mt Pleasant. Map: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Eagle+Eye+Shooting+Complex/@35.4387483,-87.2203733,17z

    Eagle Eye

Does anyone else want ot see this movie? I thought it might look interesting, and I was given a link ot a very interesting experience that is related ot the movie. www.eagleeyefreefall.com The name and phone number are required for the experience and are not stored. Believe me, they are needed for the experience. As well, you will want your sound turned up, because it makes the website interface sequences much better. It says running time is about 10 minutes, but it took a bit less for me. Now, just so you know, there are few computer interations, mostly clicking links ot move forward and then entering a number. Otherwise, it is verbal interaction over the phone. No keypad presses, verbal interaction. It is quite neat. Anyone else want to see this movie? It might make a great example of why having cameras and surveillance everywhere is a BAD idea.
  23. Moving at the end of August and the logistics of loading/unloading this safe aren't economical, so I thought I'd list it and see if there was interest. Safe has been in a climate controlled room (the Master BR, the wife LOVES it) so the condition is as new. Paid >$2,300 , asking $1,500 and you come and load it up before August 27th. Happy to answer any questions and take pics as well, I'm in Brentwood near Concord and Sunset. 24. I'm not sure whether this is a thread about the rifle or factor Match grade ammo. I guess it’s actually a little of both. I grew up hunting but never really shot much “precision” rifle. I decided that I wanted to do some of it simply for fun. I didn’t want to spend a lot up front but still have something to get me started. I shoot a lot of pistol but bench rest shooting is new to me. I don’t claim to be a great shot so take that into account. All rifles shoot differently so I have no idea if the results will relate to any other rifles. I found a new Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .308 a few months ago on sale for $500. This is the heavy 26” barrel version with 1:12 twist. I didn’t like the stock but decided I could change it if needed. I mounted a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 scope on it. I reload for pistol but not yet for rifle. I plan to get into this part later this year or early next and I know that will help. I decided I would try different “Match” grade ammo on the market to see what shot well in my gun while I was learning to be a better shooter and see if I really enjoyed it enough to move forward. I got some cheap PMC Bronze 147gr. ammo for barrel break in and to just get some rounds through it and get the feel of the rifle. After 40 rounds of PMC it was clear either the ammo sucks or my rifle really hates it with average groups of almost 5 moa. I tried shooting the rifle in the original configuration but was unable to get any of the Match ammo to shoot less than 1.5 moa. I didn’t collect any real data during this time so can’t show the comparison. All I can say is I was feeling pretty disappointed at this point. The original stock had a lot of flex so I decided to try to improve it. I bedded it and filled the forearm with resin so it could be free floated. This helped quite a bit as you can see below. Even though it was shooting better I just really wasn’t comfortable with the feel of the stock. I decided to use my birthday discount at Midway to order a Bell and Carlson Medalist M40 stock. I put it on and immediately loved the improved feel. Ok, enough of the rifle stuff, on to the ammo. I purchased a box of Match grade ammo from each of these manufactures: Winchester, Federal, Norma, Hornady and two from HSM their AMAX and regular match all in 168 gr. For the second round of testing (B&C Stock) I added some cheap Monarch soft point that I already had. I had also read good things about Eagle Eye Precision so got a box if their 175 gr. to try. I didn’t know how it would shoot with my twist rate but thought I would give it a try. Here are the results from the bedded and free floated original stock and the B&C stock. All shots taken at 100 yards and results in inches. (Edit) when I wrote this I forgot about the fact that I zeroed with the Eagle Eye ammo. The last group I shot with it was actually two groups with one click left difference. Would have tightened a little otherwise. Original B&C Winchester 1.375 .938 Three shots with the B&C were .563 with the 4th extending the group to .938. Federal GMM .875 .500 HSM AMAX .938 1.125 Four shots with B&C were .875 with the 5th extending the group to 1.125. HSM Match .563 This ammo shot so well with original stock I shot it all up. Opps. Norma Match 1.00 .500 Hornady Match 1.25 .687 Eagle Eye (3 shot) n/a .415 Eagle Eye (6 shot) n/a .875 Can’t claim I can do better than this over 6 shots. Monarch n/a 3.575 PMC Bronze 4.700 2.560 Overall I think it was evident the new stock helped. I observed good results with all of the Match ammo, it definitely is a great improvement over the cheap stuff. All of the Match ammo shot sub MOA with the Federal and Norma putting up nice groups. The best three shot group came from the Eagle Eye coming in at .415. I have no idea if this test gives anyone other than me any useful information but it was nice to find out what my rifle likes. It was also a big relief to see me and the rifle shooting a half MOA or better with factory ammo. Sorry for the different style targets I wasn't really planning to document it.
  25. You might want to check out Eagle Eye Range in Mt Pleasant which is about a 35 minute drive from Spring Hill. There's often organized shoots there. For example, last weekend there was a national level NRL hunters match, USPA this weekend (2nd and 4th weekends every month) this coming weekend (on Sunday) an ELR 22 match is planned, and NRL22 matches every second Saturday of the month. Note - the next "official" NRL22 match is in June, but the off season matches are a good time to learn/get started in NRL22.
