Ruger sues Thompson Center Arms

Recommended Posts

Interesting story, but I think it’s crazy that all the headlines are fake news just like on everything else. I guess they think having a headline that Ruger is suing Smith & Wesson will get more clicks…and I'm sure it does; even though it isn't true.

I took my wife to VUMC to get the cast taken off her broken ankle Thursday morning and read an article in an Outdoor Life from this summer.  From all the obvious lookalike of the Ruger, I wondered when and if the lawsuits were coming.

Well it looks like a 10/22. Its made to use aftermarket 10/22 parts. I'd say Ruger probably has a case. OTOH, I've heard that patent law can be real tricky. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out.

Valid point. Fake headline for sure. Its about name recognition and getting attention. Very few people have heard of American Outdoor Brands or even Thompson Center, but just about everybody knows Smith & Wesson.

Its an outright lie now that AOB has split S&W off into a completely separate company.

I don't know anything about patent laws as regards to infringement issues, but after watching a couple of videos on field stripping and takedown of this gun, it's pretty much a dead ringer for a 10/22 ...

I honestly thought it was an authorized copy of the 10/22. There are many out there, Magnum Research makes one as well.
