WqxyXTa.gif Tasers weren’t around when I was a cop, and I’ve always thought that was a shame. WqxyXTa.gif

When I was a cop I studied martial arts from a friend who ran a weekly class with about a 50/50 mix of LEOs and civilians. One of the civilians was a commercial electrician by trade. One of the MisHap (what we called the Missouri State Highway Patrol) students had been issued a taser that was supposed to be VERY high powered. Well, fellas being fellas, a challenge of sorts was thrown down and the taser was applied to the bare side of the electrician. He just stood there and looked at the Trooper with an amused smirk on his face. That convinced me not to ever waste my money on them.

I’ve never experienced them, but I remember and episode of COPS were they tasered a biker looking dude. He said “I’ve been stabbed shot and had my azz beat, and never had anything hurt like that.” :)

So I’ve always assumed its probably like mace, I’ve had big guys that were resisting sit down on the curb and cry, and once we had an 18 year old kid that was fighting, getting maced by three Officer and it was like we were spraying water on him; had no effect at all. A night stick across the shins dropped him like rock.

Yup, I've got a few flashlight dings in my noggin and elbows in my nose when the fists are flying in the melee. FWIW, we used to actually play "tag" with OC spray, and prank each other's lunch by adding the spicy cayenne additive to each other's chicken sammiches.  Nowadays you hear people claiming their baby is gonna go blind when they get hit with OC. I just laugh knowing how much I've had shot at me.  You wanna know pain, I watched a 19 year old addict having meth OD issues. Paramedics could not get her heart rate to stop escalating.  Know how they solved it? Stopped her heart to give it a reset. She got AED'd while she was awake and fully conscious. Twice!  Now THAT had to hurt!

We were drinking beer at the Police Benevolent Hall one night after work. My friend was standing behind the bar with his leg raised up on the sink. I walked by to get a beer and sprayed mace in the sink. This was back when you could smoke in buildings. It took a few minutes, but his eyes were watering and he said “Damn, I don’t see how you guys can smoke those cigarettes, that smoke is killing my eyes!” 🤣
