They have been making them for several years, I just learned about the .45 version last week, Sphinx Systems Ltd. while there is definitely nothing wrong with the original CZ pistols,they are the only manufacturer good enough to make Swiss Ordnance Pistols and they are put together like a swiss watch which is something I am quite fond of :)

Pretty cool, underwater thugs beware! I shot an email as well. Always interested in new firearms. Thanks for the information and heads up.

The Sphinx 3000! Why didn't you say so! I like it just for the name. :D

LOL.. I love your avatar!

I was not even sure it was the 3000. I actually saw a few models of these in 9 millimeter like 7 years ago. They are hard to source out I am hoping to find out something from Sabre on Monday

No problem. I was told a while back that their pistols are tested more throughly than Glocks That is pretty impressive to me

There is a review of the Sphinx .45 in the May 09 Combat handguns. The MSRP is $2990. It received a very good review. "The Sphinix's quality is in line with a high end custom pistol, making it worth its hefty price tag. Looks like they got a little over 1 inch groups at 25 yrds with it from a free standing position.

I figured it would be, as usual everything I like is expensive :D I just need to win the Power ball.... I am looking around to see what I can get one for, I know in the future I will have to get one it keeps calling my name, here is a portion of that review http://www.tactical-life.com/online/combat-handguns/sabre-defence-sphinx-45acp/

Well, looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to grab one of these. I heard back from both Sabre here in Nashville and Sphinx. Here are their responses:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sabre Defense:
Dear Jason,
Thank you for contacting Sabre Defence. We are no longer importing or distributing Sphinx pistols.
Please contact Sphinx directly for more information. Sphinx Systems Ltd.
Kind Regards,
Michael Curlett
Director of Sales and Marketing
and Sphinx Industries:
Dear Jason
Thank you for your inquiry!
You are right, we are very sorry, current we have no importer for USA - but
it seems, that we will have good solution and soon a new distributor - then
I let you know.
Best regards
At least I got a response, and in less than 24 hours from each. That's good customer service. Thanks for making us aware of this pistol willis, I will be following it's development into the U.S.
For that price every one should come with a compact .380 called the Sphinx Sphincter and blows bubbles when fired under water
So what did you find out? I've been looking for a Sphinx AT 380 M for quite a while.
That is a really nice gun, it is imported by Saber defense which i believe is in Nashville, they are made to some very high standards. the gun is capable of 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards off hand. pretty much a super nice CZ 97 going for about $2200.
