I'm a professional session drummer, been playing over 25 years and doing it professionally (i.e. getting paid to play) for nearly 20 years. It's where the 2and4 comes from in my username, that being the backbeat of a vast majority of music.

I carry a Glock 23 in a Don Hume IWB holster, in the 4-5 o'clock position. Even when playing drums it's comfortable to wear and discreet enough for my needs. I've done 9-hour session days wearing it and no one else in the studio has noticed.

Good thread bump since I missed it the first time. I haven't done anything else since I turned 20. Spent 7 years as a classical bassist and almost as many as a college teacher. Now, I work in the casinos and I do some sessions.

Primarily mandolin and guitar... been an engineer for 6 years since graduating MTSU, although doing more photography recently. Also play a bit of clawhammer style banjo and attempted to play the fiddle but had to give up. Just adopted a Bourgeois Vintage D acoustic guitar and am in love!

Glenn, do I know you?

Don't think we've ever been on a session in the same crew. But sounds like if we were, the joint would be well armed.

Guitar, bass, dobro, mandolin, and banjo, of course!

Never played in a bar, but I've played in some pretty rough churches...

Good one! As a church rhythm section veteran, I can totally relate! :)

Played guitar for 20 years, bluegrass gospel mostly. After my heart problems, when I got home, I remembered how to play, ( always played by ear) just didn't remember any songs!!! Really scary, They said my memory problems were related to my time on the heart-lung machine. Really it was a lot of fun to re-learn all the old songs, had a lot of help from family showing me all the runs I used to play. 05 developed RA. It's done a number on my hips and left wrist. Playing has become just too painful. I sold my Guild DV 52 last summer. I still mourn over it , stupid aren't I .

Yeah definitely a good thread bump....guess it came along the first time before I got here.

I played drums in my "former life" as I usually refer to it. Also taught lessons at the local shop for 7 years, but gave it up quite a few years ago. One day I will get back into it on my own terms for my own enjoyment and I am sure it will provide me with the same enjoyment. Just seems a lot harder to support a percussion addiction than the same for other instruments. It is a lot of committment to space/room/soundproofing moreso than the other instruments.

I'm a no-talent hack on the guitar. And that's not just your typical musician modesty, I really stink. Though I'd like very much to get better. I play mostly for myself and my 2 yr old. I have an older Ibanez electric with full Floyd Rose and a cheap acoustic.

I have been playing at the guitar for over 20 years - that can't be right. I am not that old.

I have played on stage a couple of times. Never got paid more than a couple pitchers or beer though.

I still enjoy it and recently picked up Mexican Strat since my electric was stripped 20 years ago and never put back together. That one makes me cry as it was a Gibson U2 from the time when the head of Jackson took over making guitars. Only a limited run and I can't find one now for a decent price. Would love to have it back.

I play for the kids these days and am self taught. Guitar for the Practicing Musician helped out tremendously in the 80's.

Played keyboards semi-pro 1967 to 1976. Main income source from 1977 to 1996. Which I suppose you would call pro, though all I can do is attempt to string all the klinkers together in a somewhat-smooth fashion. Occasionally will play a gig nowadays.

Maybe will go back to gigging sometime. The money ain't great when you don't have any talent, but it beats having a real job.

When took up shooting, was surprised how many jazz players from the union I'd meet in gun shops. For years had assumed some of those fellers were liberal weenies. Maybe they had assumed the same about me.
