Eotech or Aimpoint for 6.8

Recommended Posts

I've purchased a Stag Model 5 6.8. I want to get a quick sight for it and am not sure if I should go with the Eotech or the Aimpoint. I don't want to buy both just to see which one I like best, so I'm asking for likes and dislikes about both, or even the Trijicon Reflex. I want to shoot with both eyes open for better retrospect of the surrounding conditions. I added the 4-rail handguard so I can extend either for a magnifier later if I choose to. I have BUIS I like to use mostly, and would like any system to line up with them in case of failure. Any input would help me greatly. Thanks.

Having no personal extended time on either, I like the Aimpoint better. If I had the funds I personally have a AP T-2 micro. Those things are awesome! I had a Millet DMS-1 on mine that I really liked. You could use both eyes open on 1x but eye relief was more like a traditional scope. I did like the dot in doughnut reticle especially well.

Just went thru the same thing. Bought an EOTec because of the dot and circle reticle -- lots easier to see than just a dot. The aimpoint has a dot reticle. I'm a little older and the dot and circle works the best for me.

Kind regards,

LEROY

PS -- Find some to look thru. That's the best way to go. I like the Trijicon too.

If money is not an issue chose the one that offers a .308 Win. ballistic drop. The 6.8 and the 308 have basically the same flight profile out to 400 yards. I have used both and Eotech and a Aimpoint extensively. I like the battery life of the Aimpoint, but not the single dot. I really like the Eotech for its reticle as it gives reference points when shooting at distance.

I also have a 6.8 spc and absolutely love it. Its a very accurate round. I have the Rock River though. I wanted a Stag model 7 , but couldn't find one at the time. I may still get one to compliment the RR. I can also recommend Silver State Armory ammo, its some good stuff.

Thanks for all of the good input. I ended up with the Trijicon RX-30 with an A.R.M.S. throw lever mount. It lines up perfectly with my iron sights. The discussions of the battery life got me to thinking, why not use No batteries? The Trijicon uses Tritium and self adjusts the brightness to the light conditions. I tested this before I bought it. It works perfectly. I can use a magnifier with .308 drop and also buy a NV extension. I was turned off of the Aimpoint by the long scope style, and the Eotech by the batt. life. I now have a Sightmark Ultra-Shot to sell. I'll take 75. It's similar to the Eotech, just a little smaller and not waterproof. 4 reticle types+Green or Red. Once again, Thanks for all of the valuable input, it really gave me a great perspective of what's important to a wide range of actual users.
