i can usually connect, but sometimes I get the "low res" version: i.e. if an icon image doesn't load, I get the "text" version. But other than that - no problems here. I access via 3 different ISPs. Comcast, private work, and Verizon 3G

Well crap. Anybody got a suggestion about what to try to fix this?

I'm assuming you can connect to other websites just fine using the Comcast connections?

A good starting point would be to verify if you can't connect at all, or just can't connect by name (DNS resolution):

Open up a Command Prompt, and type: ping www.tngunowners.com and then press Enter.

You should get 4 replies back from the server.

If they fail, ping by IP address, type: ping 72.44.88.31 and press Enter.

You should get 4 replies back from the server.

If it works by IP, but not by name, you have a DNS issue, and you should probably place a call to Comcast.

Ok tried this, had to ping ip address : this is what I got back.

Ping statistics for 72.44.88.31:

Packets : sent = 4, received =0, lost = 4 (100% loss)

So now what?

one thing I have noticed is tons of dns cache corruption. clear your dns cache locally and maybe even try using a different dns server.

open a dos box and type (in vista open it as admin)

ipconfig /flushdns

this will clear your local cache. you can also try using another dns server like 4.2.2.1 which is a public level3 server.

just a few things to try...

next time you or anyone else can't connect do a traceroute to the site, save the results and post when you can.. this will show who's dropping the ball. It's either a dns or routing issue as there are no providers blocking such sites.

in windows it's:

open dos box and type

tracert tngunowners.com

Right now I'm being told that it was a router upstream from our data center that was dropping packets. In other words, it wasn't us and it wasn't our hosting company, but whomever they get their connectivity from. It seems to be correcting itself now.
