My Sig P228, work in progress.

Well with all the Sig threads I thought I'd go ahead and post my work in progress, this is my P228 9mm, it's a Swiss police trade in I bought from TG a few months ago, this was the GOOD quality rating, it has been 100% reliable and I used it at the CIS Defensive pistol class and put close to 1K rounds through it, I shoot it better than any other gun I own but it was really dog ugly from the holster ware, it is a 20 year old gun with the date code KA. It has the Swiss police emblem etched into the side of the slide just behind the Sig Sauer name.

So here are some pictures of before and after I started polishing the slide and the controls, TGO david was kind enough to install some XS Big Dits on it last weekend that I bought from Todd with CIS, thanks again both of you.

Heres the before pics!!!!

And here's the after pictures!!!

As I stated this is still a work in progress, this weekend I will perform a (fluff & buff) to the trigger action and I'm waiting for a spring kit to replace all the springs and some new grips. I know some Sig traditionalists will balk at a 2 tone or a polished Sig but I like it and that's all that really matters. LOL!!! COOP

very nice Sig porn...How about a pic or two showing the new sights?? My 228's are my favorite Sigs (I have a few West German 228's, a few German proofed 2022's and a JJ code West German 226). Just when I think I "need" another different brand of gun, I go to the range and my 228 convinces me I should buy a few more 228's....

The German P228's are one of the best 9mm's ever produced IMO!!!! I liked my P229R Elite, my P245, my P239 but I love my German P228 and P6. My G19 is slowly growing on me but I have some sort of plastic gun mental block? COOP

I wish I would have known that about a year and a half ago a co worker ordered like 9 police trade ins, he wanted to sell me 2 in perfect condition for $700.00 plus FFL fees, turned it down :yum:

OH Wonders.....

oh well we live n learn.:yum:

Jeff you would know this, I didn't know squat about Sigs but one of the crane operators offshore claimed that East German sigs were superior to West German made Sigs, were they ever made in East Germany?

Polishing is a slow process for me, a very fine wire wheel, 3M rambright wheel on a die grinder, very fine sand paper, and to the polishing wheel with green and tan rough for a few hours, I've done a lot of polishing on 4wheeler motors but I'm no expert, I just do the best I can.... COOP
