THP Peterbilt

Alright, has anyone got a picture of this thing? I saw a Peterbilt semi tractor painted up with the THP colors with blue lights on it sitting behind the weigh station building on I-40 headed into Knoxville today. I didn't have time to get a picture of it.

So, does anyone have a photo of the this truck? My Google search hasn't found much. Anyone know why they even have a truck like this? I think it's pretty cool that they do, I just don't see the reason. Do they take possession of enough trailers to justify the cost, instead of simply calling out a towing company?

I'm not sure it was a PB but I saw a semi tractor and trailer with THP stuff all over it parked in front of the THP office here in Jackson a few weeks ago. I have no idea what they use it for but it did look cool.

Hindsight....Cell phone cam, I guess I am too old to remember my "phone" will take pics....;)

They use it to haul a sentient 1982 Pontiac Firebird also painted up in THP colors. They call the car the Super Highway Interceptor Traffic Transport 2000. The driver seems to be really stuck in the 80's himself, but I hear he's real popular in Germany.

That is cool looking. I couldn't find anything with a search.

Well... not a Peterbilt, but I stumbled onto this.....

The've got one of the new style bugs like this too.

I think that most of the odd ball stuff "lives" in the yard behind the drivers testing station out at the Nashville airport, or at least it did several years ago when I used to work at the airport. Also had the new cars coming in for final package installation and old cars being phased out.

One of the things I really like about this site is that no matter what I am wondering about someone else will be wondering the same thing. All I have to do is wait for them to ask and someone else to answer. I saw the THP tractor at the Watt Rd. truck over the weekend and was eat up with curiosity about it.

I think their is a officer with the Blount Co. Sheriff's dept. that took a VW and put the dept. markings and a light bar on it and made it his "cruiser". We, Oak Ridge, had a Mustang that was confinscated several years ago. The equipment shop painted it black and white and put dept. marking on it and an light bar and the SRO drove it to work at the high school for several years.
