has anyone seen this? This pisses me off!

So, what's your point? Katrina couldn't wait for Obama to make a mess

of it. What did Bush have to do with it? Local officials like Mayor Ray Nagin

ordered this and the Governor, at the time, who I think is now gone. No

party politician is sacred, but your statement is unreasonable.

Unless you can show that Bush - in all unlikelihood - got involved in State and Local law enforcement's efforts and issued an order for them to confiscate the citizen's guns, this comment is totally irrelevant to the point of this thread.

Looks like I hit a couple nerves. What I was saying was that it doesn't matter who the president is. This stuff can and will happen because we are governed by politicians.

You say that Bush being president is was irrelevant, but I don't even want to think of the uproar that would ensue if this happened while Obama was president. "See I told you he was going to steal our rights! Bush wouldn't have LET this happen! Socialism! Antichrist! Blah blah!"

This stuff can and will happen, regardless of who is in charge, because:

A.) Politicians want power and money and controlling citizens is the one of the greatest means to that end.

B.) The citizenry, in general, is full of disorganized pushovers who don't even realize that just because a LEO or military personnel tells you to do something doesn't make it law, and just because something is law, doesn't make it right.

As armed as we all are here in TN i'm not sure I can see that happening. If I was LEO I would be scared to death. ;)

Unfortunately...I can...they'll do it one house at a time...people you call "friends" will rat you out as a "gun nut"...and a menace to the neighborhood. At time it seems like the general public (sheeple) are more concerned about us than they are the criminals

The governor is gone, replaced by Jindell(sp).

Unfortunately, the voters of NO must have thought Ray Nagin did a good job. He was reelected. ;)

Nagin is GONE now as well...there was an election for a new Mayor recently

"Hit a nerve"? Not hardly. I'm a centrist. Your comment was completely unrelated to what had happened. What happened was the result of local government; not the president.

I'm originally from LA 1st thing you have to realize is that LA LEO and state Gov. live by there own rules made up by them a lot of the time on the spot. Close to where I grew up at the following things happend.

1. http://www.lacoa2.org/Opinions%20PDF/42126ka.pdf

2. Infamous

I also have a few friends that were in NOLA during and after Katrina. They encountered National Guard troops that seach there vehicle and they were questioned about the Mini-14 and 870 pump shotgun. The Troop asked him if he new how to use them :D and passed him through. After watching the videos I can promise you the out come of the LEO roughing my Grandmother up would not have been pretty. To take a line out of spiderman With great power comes great responsibility.

Forewarned is forearmed. They can't call for backup. No ambulances. You are in a war zone in a situation like katrina. It takes a special kind of stupid to go out there and ask for trouble like LE did. I hope EVERYONE learns from this.

Okay, you hit a couple of nerves. No one's been shot, yet.

We will never know unless a Katrina-like storm happens with him, will we?

Bush was never considered anti gun, was he? Obama, in the WH only goes

far enough about the 2nd by saying drivel like "You can still hunt with

your guns while I'm the Prez". His record has been anti gun before the WH

and I don't recall him wanting to open Illinois' gun laws up a bit. He's

for a treaty that will ban guns in the US. Eric Holder is openly anti gun

and has flapped his jaws about it, once or twice. Hillary has, too.

That leads me to think he is lying about his real agenda.

But is this really new for Obama to lie? Draw your own conclusion.

Still no one shot:D

I had a half a book written in a reply here because this is the sort of thing that I could not tolerate. Personally if that old lady were any relation to me the LEO's involved would want to quickly leave the state and possibly the country depending on how closely related we were because if that were my mother they had attacked like that they wouldn't make it to the state line.

For me firearms are personal insurance. I know that with them I can provide both protection as well as food for my family. This need for them is magnified in times of emergency such as Katrina. In the country that I live, work, and pay taxes in, it is my right to have them. This is a right that will NOT be taken away from me without lives being lost, and I'm aware that my own life in the end will most likely also be lost. I decided a long time ago that there are certain things I'm willing to go to jail and even die for.

But there has been laws passed to make sure things like that dont happen again, and I agree with you that they might, however if LEO's that want to trample on the constitution are met with a citizenry that are well educated and supply documented proof they are in violation of not only constitutional law but state law then the outcome might be different.

I know its hard to argue with an AR stuck in your face but if you provide proof, and explain you will sue there collective azzes off when its all said or done.. well that might change their minds, or get you shot who knows.
