Great. The state fails to do it's job and we may be penalized for it.

I'm right there with you on this one. Sounds like a break down in the system, and this report called them out on it. Could be used as some very constructive criticism by the state, but I'm sure the media isn't presenting it that way.

Wow, California (no offense canyn) and New York even allow it.

I'm just glad that things like this can go up for a vote by the people that we elected.....oh wait, they can't, they get killed before that from one person and his committees that he appointed members too.

That's a useful map.

Yes it is, just copied it to my computer for future reference.

You can carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol with a state issued concealed handgun permit in Louisiana. You can carry in a restaurant and/or a bar with a parish permit.

I don't know but CarryConcealed.net says you are denied carry in

(10) Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class A-General retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.

Aren't Permits harder to get in these states? I know they are in NYC.

Yes, it's very difficult to get a permit in NY... and CA is 'may issue', so it really depends on what county you live in as to whether you'll be issued a permit. But once you've got the permit, there are almost no restrictions.

"May issue" in CA is a joke. Maybe if you're friends with the Sheriff in one of the rural counties in northern CA?

According to Sheriff Bacca of L.A.S. D., there are under 500 permits in L.A. County (about 10 million population). Basically you need to have already been a victim of a violent crime and still in fear of your life, a retired FBI agent or a sitting judge that has received threats before he'll approve a permit.

Don't forget celebrity. If you're a big name celebrity you can get one.

Any word on if this bill is gonna get stuck in committee indefintely?

I don't know for sure, but I would guess at some point they would go ahead and bring it up for a vote in the committee. This is the last year of this session so if it doesn't pass it would have to start over from scratch next session no matter how far along it had made it this time.

Also this is just something I've heard...so take it for what that may be worth. But many of legislators are up for re-election this year. State law prohibits them from campaigning will the legislature is in session. So some think this may be a short session. When this happens, sometimes close to the end, some bills are more easily passed because of the lack of time to argue about them etc.... Not sure if could be the plan of the sponsor or not.
