You probably won't face anyone in court...and it's not because they'll be scared off, either.

I am starting to get the feeling you just like screwing with people.

But the validity and rationality of one's argument is again a matter of the observers personal opinion. In court a judge or jury weighs the arguments and determines who is right. Here we dont have that but rather a group of similarly positioned people debating. The difference is whether you accept the other person's opinion as just that or whether you choose to flame them for their position. I find the former to be a more mature approach but what do I know about maturity...I am only 22

Go in front of a judge some time with opinion, without any facts to back it up, or at very least, first-hand knowledge.

An Expert Witness can get away with opinion... That's usually the very reason they are called. Someone who has no real working knowledge of whatever subject is before the court can't, and will be nothing more than meat for the grinder. Seen it personally too many times.

So your contention that all opinions have equal value is false, and has been proven so many times.

Sorry.

I get the impression that Jamie isn't a real big fan of nonlethal weapons

I like nonlethal weapons just fine... so long as they at least have the capacity to do permanent damage.

I mean, hell, what's the use in using it if you can't leave someone with a permanent twitch or limp? :hat:

If your opinion and that of your comrades is representative of what the military as a whole believes then yes I concede you win hands down. I guess you would consider your opinion to be that of an expert.

On the whole man/women shower thing really isnt a matter of personal experience but rather drawing a logical distinction between what makes that different from making heterosexual and homosexuals shower together. Some said their isnt a difference and that both should be allowed. Others seem to just answer with the summary of "its just not the same". I guess I was just hoping for a little more explanation than that.

Probably won't be.

Just out of curiosity what do you actually do for a living since you have stated the legal profession is too easy for your taste...

No not at all. I understand their very intelligent people in many different careers. I am just curious to see which one you thought was a better use of your time and intelligence.

Not ganging up. It's my opinion, and has nothing to do with your viewpoint. There are others on this board that share your viewpoint.

I know there are they just choose not to participate in these type threads anymore lol

The whole point has been that you have no frame of reference to use to refute what I and others have been relating to you. There is nothing ( yet ) revealed in what you've said to us that gives any indication that there's anything in your background that would be comparable.

That's not meant as a slur or a put-down, it's just a simple fact.

Only in that I've been in the military, and have some knowledge of psychology and psychiatry, and know how people tend to think and behave in such circumstances. Other folks here have been through boot camp much more recently than I, so have a better knowledge of how it's changed since I was there, but so far that extra information hasn't invalidated what I've already personally observed.

At very minimum, my opinion qualifies as "educated", I think, and not simply my best guess.

Since you asked...I'm currently a senior(graduating in the spring) of a double major of microbiology and biochemistry. I've also got applications out to several Ph.D. programs so that I may go straight into that after I leave Cookeville. It's no theoretical physics program....but, meh.

You're gonna have to stand up to the inquiry, and you'll probably get sued, so you might as well make it worth your while? Right?

I agree. I havent been there. You have. However I would like to see the results of the surveys the military has apparently been implementing to see what current soldiers think on the issue. That to me would be the best evidence. Whether that will ever occur or not is another matter.

Actually, it's more "If you're gonna force me to hit you, I wanna make sure you always remember it."

Very impressive. Yes there are some careers out there that require more than a law degree does like your current Ph.D. pursuit. However I wouldnt disregard law school as something that any guy/girl off the street could do either.
