Wow!! That is sweet. I bet it kicked like a mule on steroids.

It doesnt, actually. It has stout recoil springs (2 of them!) and weighs a ton, with a 1911 style grip. Put the same ammo in my ruger blackhawk with a 8 inch barrel, and the revolver has a good 30% more felt recoil.

The only time I ever felt the DE kick was a bit harsh was when I shot up some old deer-killers, 300 grain jacketed soft point ammo, and some old self defense ammo, silver-bullet stuff (winchester??). The hot loads are, as expected, stout, and they are still far, far less stout in the DE than the revolver. Normal loads of 200 grain or so is really not bad at all. Unlike the revolver, though, you cannot shoot 44 specials thru it to take a break from the magnums.

I have fired the DE in .44mag and .50 along side of the Casull .454 and Smith .50. The DE is so heavy, it eats up that recoil energy fast. Shooting the revolvers was nuts. As for the fire...anytime you can have fireworks during the day you know you are having fun.

Great picture. Makes me miss my DE. Traded it a while back for a Loaded Liteweight Operator and haven't really regretted it. Not that the Eagle wasn't fun or a good gun, I just found it too specialized. Couldn't really carry it without a shoulder holster or a big drop-leg unit and a hellava good belt and suspenders. But it was fun.

Good luck with yours.

I love mine hence the avatar pic. Haven't felt the heart to get rid of it despite never getting around to shooting it. It pulls everyone off the rifle range when I shoot it at the local range. Lots of fire and noise.
