Interesting observation. I happen to live where I can observe the wildlife also. My own wildlife refuge, farmland to the front and mountains to the rear. This year we are down a few deer, no fox, no coyotes, lots of rabbits and squirrels, one hen turkey sighted. I have not heard a quail in a couple years, since back when the foxes and coyotes were thick here a couple years back. I do believe wildlife populations runs in cycles.

Well aorund my farm, rabbits are more abundant, never paid attention to the quail, but they are always around. Squirrels, coyotes, fox, plenty of turkey including a white one, a few duck, plenty of geese in season, and deer. All looks good here. I really should take up the bird hunting(especially with all the turkey and geese).
