Took my HCP class Saturday!

Finally found a chance to take my class Saturday and ended up being at Hixson Sportsman Supply. The instructor, Mark, was pretty good. We couldn't watch the new DVD because the shop owner forgot to bring a DVD player so we had the old VHS.

Class was semi informative and easy. They made it too easy IMO. Leaving I felt that there were some people that might not fully understand when they can use deadly force or threat.

Qualifying was of course easy and my Kimber is getting through the break in period finally. Good hits with one stray low and right .....which I think the guy in the lane next to me might have hit my paper (he was all over his target).

Now to get my paperwork in and sit and wait.

Same place I took mine. I think I know what you mean when you say it was maybe too easy... but hey, so long as I get my permit, I'm all good. Don't get too antsy waiting for it to show up in the mail- I'm into week 8 now. One day, I'm sure, it'll show up..........

Got any tickets?If so and you plead lets say nolo then it never made it to the computer in Nash then you will have a problem.This happened to this great looking guy I know vewy well.I ha....I mean he had to go to the court house and get a cert copy of the court records and mail them in.

i know the wait is rough. i am not making fun. but i got mine in the GOOD OLD DAYS and it was over 8 months for my son and i.

The only Tickets I have ever gotten were in Alabama in like '98 and 2000. Went to traffic school on both and paid them off. Hopefully that won't have any effect on it.

SH**. I got a ticket, I went to court in Lewisburg on 4/5/08. Took paperwork, 4/29/08. I was doing 56 in a 30. It was dismissed if I paid 120.00.

I hope there not a problem with that being its in AL.Im not sure court records can be mailed,but you should be ok.

I'm looking to attend my Carry class when I return from Afghanistan on break in July. I come home approximately every 90-100 days. Its good to see I can attend the class, submit my paperwork and have the permit when I return for my next break. I won't have to wait around, stalking the mailman.

Uker/Mike I think since you are Military(you are correct?) that you dont have to take a class just have to have proof of military training....least thats the impression I was under.

Its day 45 for me and i just called Nashville. They said it was still in processing and to check back next week. I guess i can take a break from stalking the mailman for a little bit now.

I think you will find that no matter how thorough the course this would still be a little hazy. The laws are just to gray and numerous. congrats and have fun waiting. Shoot a lot in the mean time.

My wife and I took it together several years ago. Waiting is hard but the reward is satisfaction of having your HCP.

My sister is a TBI agent (forensics). She didn't have to take the class. She got her permit the same day!
