Another reason not to OC

Safepacker holsters are big and klunky especially the ones that will hold a full size gun, but if it had been in a safepacker it may have survived. Or maybe not, dunno anything. Safepackers are pretty rigid and well padded however. Which might also make the gun less painful to land on...

I carry my M&P 45c in a Safepacker when I'm working out in the yard. I love the protection from the elements as well as dirt and other stuff it gives the weapon and the extra mags I carry in it. I also keep it in the car when I am traveling. And, even though it will make me seem paranoid, I take it in the shower with me and drop in in the towel rack so it's right there in the unlikely event that I needed it. The other day I was getting it off the rack and I dropped it. It hit the tile floor with a thud, but the padding and thick nylon protected it well and there was no damage to either the weapon or the tile floor.

I'm sold on them.
