Damn it....  Did he really have to use a full auto gun to demonstrate this?  Guess who's going to pick up on this and perpetuate the idea that all AR type rifles are full auto?   A large amount of the US population does not know the first thing about an AR but when they see this stuff they think that they are all full auto guns.

The ammo magazine clip appears to be durable; Defense Distributed
test-fired 86 rounds from a 30-round prototype last month, and the clip
showed no signs of damage.

Wow. That's quite the durability test.  :shake:

And for the record, you can 3D print the housing and the follower, but not the spring.  So it's not completely 3D printed.

They are working on a process for printing 3D in other mediums including metal. Have to see where the technology goes.

Airbus has a project going to 3D print an entire jumbo jet by 2050.  Small printers can be had for a modest cost, but bigger ones get expensive real fast.

A 3D printer for aluminum is available.  The cheaper ones cost about $150K.

What nobody mentions is that a small CAD milling machine only costs about $5K.  You can make a LOT of nice guns with one of those!  And it will fit nicely in your garage or basement without taking up too much room.

The point of these articles is that people without the skills of a machinist can make these things. As popularity grows, price drops.

Its a start.  86 rounds out of a virtually disposable mag is sufficient.
